Lucas Dow's POV
I was looking at the newspaper as I was sipping on my coffee when I told Scott that he will be meeting me here, in Greece, at The Hypnos Camp. I sighed as I was folding the newspaper in my hand before I saw the familiar red headed man that was coming at me right now.
Luckily, Scott was not far off from Athens when he was in Rome, Italy last night.
"Lucas Dow, as I live and breathe," he said as I stood up before we hugged each other.
"How are you?" I asked him before he was pulling his sunglasses off that showed off his uncanny amber eyes. He smirked at me.
"Well, I must say that it was unpleasant but I don't want to be rude with you so I came here instead," he said as I was rolling my eyes at Scott.
"So, where's this device that you want me to look at?" Scott asked me before I was pulling out the device that trapped Harriet last night.
"This," I said as I was sliding it on the floor before Scoot scooped down and looked at it. It was a trap that pulled the victim to the wall before they were hanging there. Scott was examining it before I was waiting for his analysis.
"Hmm, this person is either a genius or very creative with the thieving," Scott said before I was rolling my eyes.
"So, what can you gather?"
"It was definitely handmade and I think I never se anything like this. Is there any finger prints or some sort of that? I would love to recruit this person," Scott said as he smirked at me.
"This person is a thief,"
"The more reason why I should hire them. It would do them good to leave crime behind in their past. I wanted to give them a better chance at this," Scott said as I sighed before we were sitting at the table and I was putting the evidence away.
"So, may I be any other assistance for you?" Scott asked me as I was calling for waitress to get his order. He smiled before he ordered an omelette with black coffee, same as me.
"I don't know but I think I might want some advice on personal matter," I said before Scott stared at me as he was putting the coffee down on the table and focused on me.
"Ooo, sounds nice and I wondered what would you tell me?" He asked before I put the coffee down and I was pulling the package that came to me by Edmond. I don't even know why he was giving me this.
"I want you to keep this away from any prying eyes," I said as I was handing the book to Scott. He was surprised before he took it and read the title.
"The Book of Time Bloodline. Sounds fancy," he said as he was putting the book onto the chair next to him. I sighed before I nodded.
"It was Conall's and then Edmond was trusted to keep it. But he said that he would not be needing this anymore and told me to keep it away from him,"
"And you don't want it because?"
"Because I am busy with work while you goofing off to some exotic country and do stuff that you normally do," I said as Scott laughed at me before I scowled at him.
"And what is it that I usually do?" He asked me before I was thinking about it. Honestly, I don't know what he did.
"How should I know? It's not like I wanted to be in this escapade that you manage to get from your lawyer. I thought you wanted to work at the company now," I said as I was arching my eyebrow at him. Scott smirked before he was picking up the fork and knife.
"That was for me to know and you to see when I will be the head of the company,"
"Aren't you kind of are?" I asked him as Scott was putting some food inside his mouth. He chewed a bit before nodding at me.
"True but not like this. This is behind the scene, I was talking about the frontal page of Forbes magazine. Now that's something," he said before I was shaking my head. I smiled at my best friend.
"Whatever you say, McBaran," I said as I looked at Scott. He smirked.
Later after that, I told Scott that I have to be out for work before Scott told me that he wanted to explore Athens before he leaves the country tomorrow.
"It was a shame that you did not stay longer. I could show you around," I said as I was walking outside of the restaurant with him. Scott smirked at him before he was patting my shoulder.
"I don't want to be in the way of your work. besides, I think I can get on with this by myself. I don't need a baby sitter,'' he said as I was punching his arm. Scott laughed.
"As if I was one," I said before we hugged and parted our ways as I was going to the National Athens museum by cab. It was not that far from the restaurant before I was stopping a cab and got inside as the driver took me there.
I was looking at the scenery outside. It was calming. There were people walking around and they were happy. I must say that they did not care about anything and the children were running around. I smiled before the cab stopped in front of the museum and I paid the driver before I went out of the cab.
I was looking at the museum that was magnificent in sunlight as last night did not do justice to the building. I was smiling before I went inside the museum and I was greeted by the museum director, Harriet.
"Thank goodness you're here. I thought you might have forgot about us," Harriet said as I was smiling at him.
"Not a chance. I think I might have a clue for this incident," I said as I was pulling my note and I was scanning it through before I cleared my throat.
"It seems that this has been planned for months. The gem will be there when they were on display where our elusive thief has been coming into this museum for the last couple of months to find the perfect target. I must say, we have a lot at our hands," I said as I was looking at the familiar figure that was coming toward us. Harriet smiled affectionately before he was greeting Ari.
"Ah, you're finally here. I thought you will not be here until next week," Harriet asked Ari before she smiled and tucked her hair behind her ear. I was holding my breath when I saw there was a tint of pink blushed on her cheeks.
Ari was blushing in front of Harriet!
I felt something dark, dangerous that was coming out from inside me. I don't even know that I would be feeling this way but right now, I think I wanted to rip out Harriet's head before Ari was speaking to him.
I calmed down a bit. Keynote: a bit.
"Well, I have checked all the security cameras and the sensor motion but nothing came up. I think this cat burglar has hacked into our system before we can find her. I think she has the technology to breach our security, sir," Ari said before she was looking at the clipboard that she carried with her around. I did not notice that until she was looking at the paper.
"Damn. If only we have all the things that we can possible catch her again," he said as he was tapping his chin. I arched my eyebrow.
"What makes you so sure that she will be coming here again?" I asked them before Harriet was clearing his throat at me. Ari smiled before she acknowledged me.
"Mr. Lucas Dow, I did not know that you will be coming. If you want the private tour now—"
"What are you talking about, Ari? Mr. Dow here is an Interpol agent. Why on earth would he wanted a private tour in this museum? I'm sorry, Lucas. But Ari is our new curator. She did not get with the program yet," Harriet said before he excused himself when his phone rang. I looked at his retreating figure before Ari sighed.
"Well, I think it's a very unfortunate then. You can't do the tour with this thieving going around," Ari said as she was tucking her hair behind her ear as she was looking at me. I was looking at her action before she cleared her throat. I turned to gaze into her eyes. She was blushing.
"Stop staring. People will be looking at us now," she whispered before I was looking around the room. The tourists and locals that were inside the museum was not watching us but I was happy to know that I have effect on her.
"So, what are you doing here? And I know it was not to meet me for the private tour, so, what is your reason then?" She asked as I was looking into her brown eyes that were shining in the sunlight. I smiled before I was putting away my notepad into my jacket.
"No reason. I was just wondering to look at your workplace," I said before Ari chuckled.
"Lucas, no one comes to museum for no reason,"
"Well, I have you as my reason," I said before Ari was blushing again. She chuckled before I was looking around.
"If you have any question, you can ask me but I think I have to settle something first in the basement," Ari said as I was furrowing at the word.
"Wait, this museum has a basement?" I asked before Ari chuckled.
"Of course, it was where we have all the things stored," she said before an idea was coming into me.
"Then, why don't you show me the basement as one of your act for my tour guide?" I asked as Ari was blinking at me. I know it was insane but she doesn't need to know that I was trying to catch the Woman in Gold and possibly this new cat burglar, two at once.
I just wanted to keep it as a secret for now.
