Arianna Contos' POV
After I got inside the room, I was looking at the ceiling as I was leaning against the door. That man was too hot for me to handle but I did not jump on him when we were standing outside my room, so that was a new accomplishment.
I was smiling like an idiot before I was remembering the way that he was looking at me with his silver eyes. I was happy to know that he was attracted to me as well before something was beeping on my computer. I grimaced.
I put my handbag on the bed before I went to my computer as I was looking at the notification. It was from the museum that I will be targeting for my next side business. It looked like someone has beaten me to it.
"Huh, interesting," I said as I was looking at the fingerprint of the thief that managed to get the gemstone that was on display for the Gems around the World exhibition. Then I felt my hair at the back of my nape was up.
I turned around and saw the last person that I have to see in all of Greece.
"Jesus, you scared me," I said as I was looking at the woman that was standing there in all black. The other side of the coin when I know who was exactly behind the mask.
"I thought you will not be coming here until next year," her alluring voice was coming into my eardrums before I was rolling my eyes at her.
"Jen," I said before the intruder was taking off the mask that she used when she was stealing something precious.
"What? Can't I welcome my best friend back into her home country?" Jenny said as I was sighing before I was leaning against the chair.
"You know pretty well why I don't want you to welcome me," I said before Jenny smirked at me.
Jenny Franco, born in the streets and right now, she was the elusive cat burglar while she was working as a curator as well in Sicily Island, Italy.
"I thought you were in Sicily. What are you doing here?" I asked Jenny before she flopped herself onto the couch as she was taking a deep breath. I know how much she needs to sit down after that adrenaline rush of stealing something.
You see, we did not just steal anything, we're doing something good for the humankind and also trying to take down the corrupted museums all over the world. We're working on both sides of the coin, it made our jobs easier.
"Oh, come on. Can't I work here as well? I heard that you will be working at the museum that I just stole and I think it was a perfect surprise for my best friend," she said as I was rolling my eyes when I was giving her a glass of wine for her nerves.
"Thanks," she said as I was sitting on the couch with her as well. I was sipping on the wine before I sighed.
"I met someone today," I said as I was looking at the ceiling. Jenny stopped her glass midway to her mouth before she turned to look at me.
"Wait, hold up, you met someone? And I don't even know about this?" She asked me before I was looking at the ceiling, smiling like an idiot.
"Okay, spill it out sister," she said before I turned to look at her. I was clearing my throat before I was holding the glass in my hand.
"Okay. So, I was trying to pickpocket in the airport when I landed in Greece this morning," I started when Jenny was sipping on her wine, nodding for encouragement.
"Then, I got caught by the man that I was stealing from. I wanted to get away but he was too much and I don't have any strength to take him out myself since it was a public space," I said as I was looking at Jenny. She nodded.
"Then, out of sudden, a very handsome, the silver-eyed man saved me from that confrontation. I cannot think of anyone that would do that for me when he was not even related to me. I am happy beyond reason right now," I said as I was leaning against the couch as Jenny was nudging me on my ribcages.
"So, he's hot and you have been dying to meet him again?" Jenny asked before I turned to look at her and I smirked.
"Well, we're far more than that now," I said before I was sipping on my wine as Jenny laughed at me.
"You sure work more than you admitted, best friend,"
"I can only say for yourself as well. How's the thieving coming?" I asked before Jenny grimaced. I don't think that she would be unhappy with her success these days.
"It's…complicated," she said before I was arching my eyebrow at her.
"What do you mean?"
"It's a …never mind. I don't want it to be about me. I want to know about you for 4 years we have been separated. So any juicy details?"
"Nope. I don't work my charm yet but I think it will be coming," I said as I was holding the glass in my hand and smiled when I remembered that Lucas Dow was one hell of attractiveness.
"When?" Jenny asked me impatiently. I smiled before I know that she will not rest until she knows about it.
"Soon enough," I said before I was moving to the kitchen as Jenny was following me. I think she will not rest until I gave in to her the answer that she wanted from me.
And I will not give it until I have done the stuff that I have to do first.
Lucas Dow's POV
Since I was not a local, I have to get a cab to go to the museum when I don't even know where I was. It was hard to navigate oneself when I was looking around the road. Not to mention it was night as well. I sighed before the driver was looking at me.
"Late night shifts?" He asked as I smiled weakly at him.
"You can say that,"
"I get it. Always working, no time to play around," he said before I remembered the brown eyes that have been staring at me over the table during dinner. I smiled.
"Well. Not all the time. I have some time to play," I said before the driver chuckled and he parked in front of the museum. I thanked him before I paid as I was getting out of the taxi. I was looking around and there were red and blue lights everywhere.
"Are you the Interpol representative?" Someone asked me as I turned to look at the person. He was tall and fit. I think he's a lady's man.
"Yes, I'm Lucas Dow. Interpol and you are?"
"Harriet Hermes, the director of National Athens Museum. I have been trying to place you for the last 5 hours. Where have you been?" He asked as I was moving around the yellow tape as the witnesses and the cops were doing their jobs. I was looking at some clues when I was retrieving the gloves before I put it on.
"So, tell me about the missing item," I asked as I was looking around.
"Right, it was the Crown Jewel of Sicily. It has been missing since then but we have retrieved it back before tonight, that cat burglar has done it again," the director said as I was looking at him. He looked pissed.
"You said, a cat burglar. Can you describe her?" I asked as I was pulling my notepad to do some note takings. It might help with my investigation of the Woman in Gold.
"Ah, yes. She wore all black and there was a mask that was on her face. It was all black too," Harriet said as I was jotting it down. I nodded at him before I was furrowing my eyebrows.
"So, no other color on her? Just black?"
"Yes, that's what I said," Harriet said as I was closing the note pad.
"How can you be so sure?" I asked him as he was looking at me before scowling.
"How can I not? She was standing in front of me before she was flying kissed me goodbye as I was being trapped inside the device that she planted when I walked in on her," Harriet said before he was putting his hands on his hips. I nodded before I was looking around.
"Thank you for your time. And if you would be kind to put the device into evidence box, that would be helpful," I said as Harriet nodded at me before he was talking to the local police and asked for the device for Interpol's inspection. I know Scott would be happy to look at it if I brought it to him.
I sighed because he would ask for so much money that I don't think Interpol will be willing to pay for him.
"Looks like I have to deal it with him all alone," I said as I was calling my other best friend besides Conall and Edmond. Scott was just like us, orphan and wealthy. He was the sole heir for a Tech company back in England but now he was in Italy, doing what God knows what.
The phone ranged before Scott picked it up.
"Hello?" His voice was grungy as he was waking up when he yawned on the phone. I rolled my eyes at him.
"Are you drunk?"
"No, just sated. What's up, Dow? It's rare for you to call me. I thought it would be Reid or Lattone, never expect it was you,"
"I need an expert opinion, can you come to Athens tomorrow?" I asked him before he smirked on the phone.
"For my best client, of course,"
