Chapter 61 - Portion 30: The Complication

Edmond Lattone's POV

I was staring at the officer that was looking at our documents for our marriage to be valid and I can flaunt it at everyone's face. The officer was shaking his head before he was looking at me and Lyana.

"So, what's wrong?" I asked the officer before he sighed.

"Well, it looks like you don't have the translation of your birth certificate and your passport as well. We cannot proceed until you have them translated and officially in French language transcripts," he said before I sighed. I don't know what to say but Lyana was patting my arm.

"It's alright. We can get that done now. Where can we have the documents to be translated into French?" Lyana asked the officer before he was printing the address for the businesses that did the translation.

"Oh my God! Are you kidding me? 100 euros for one translation?! That's bloody expensive," I exploded when I was looking at the price as we were sitting in the car and I was looking at the businesses online. I sighed before Lyana chuckled at me.

"Well, you did want to get married to me, a French woman, and we have some complicated issues to officially get married to a foreigner in this country," Lyana said before I glared at her. I don't think I can handle her sassy mouth right now.

"I think we can get married in the church first and maybe we can have our honeymoon before our marriage certificates are done," I said as I was looking at Lyana's fingers. They were glistening with a sapphire engagement ring. It was my ring and my chest were pounding with pride right now.

"Whatever you say, love," Lyana said before I was starting the ignition of my car and we're off to the church. We're in Paris so we might as well go to the Notre Dame Cathedral to get married.

But unfortunately, it was closed down due to maintenance and we settled for the church that was closer to my apartment.

I was smiling when Lyana was sitting in front of me and we were looking at each other with a priest that was blessing our union right now.

"We gather here today to witness the union of these two souls in a tie of holy matrimony and for the celebration of tying the knot. Is there any objection to this union? You may speak now or forever hold your peace," the priest said before Lucas coughed behind us. He was our witness and I think that was enough for me while Lyana got her friend, Lena, to join us as a witness as well.

"Okay, so we may begin with the vows," the priest said before I was holding Lyana's hands and I was staring at her sky blue eyes.

"My love, Lyana, I have come to realize that 4 years ago I had let you slipped out of my arms and now that Fate has to bring us together, I know that I will forever be with you and cherish our love together as long as we both shall live,"

"And your vow, the bride?" The priest asked before Lyana was looking at me with adoration and Love in her eyes.

"My dear Edmond, I have been waiting for you my whole life. I thought I never see you again but I know deep down, the universe has spoken to me and I know that once I saw you in that museum, I know that I have been ensnared by your blue eyes," she said as I was arching my eyebrow at her.

"Only my blue eyes?" I asked before Lyana was rolling her eyes at me.

"Well, one of the reasons," she mumbled before the priest has blessed our wedding rings and I was putting it on Lyana's delicate hand next to her sapphire engagement ring. I got it from Vork's Vow. They were the best jewelry designers in the whole world.

"I pronounce you man and wife. Now, you may kiss the bride," the priest said before I was pulling Lyana's face between my hands and I was kissing her like there was no tomorrow. Like she was my oxygen tank and I cannot live without her.

"I love you, Lyana Lattone,"

"And I love you, Edmond Debaux," she replied before I was smiling and we were thanking the priest before I was making a good donation for the celebration of our wedding.

"May your married life be blessed," he said before we were walking out of the church as Lucas and Lena joined us.

"So, what's next?" I asked Lyana as she was looking at me before her friend, Lena was making a good suggestion.

"How about a honeymoon? I know Lyana needs one since she has been working hard for the Ancient Greece exhibition," Lena said as I was arching my eyebrow. I forgot that Lyana was a curator.

"And when that exhibition will take place?" I asked Lena as she was looking at her phone before she looked at me.

"Oh, it will be a grand opening in 2 days but it was not in France. It will be in Sicily, an island in Italy. And I was hoping that Lyana would take you there. Consider it as your honeymoon destination/work," Lena said as Lyana was nudging her.

"Lena!"

"What? I was trying to help," she said before she smirked and she was excusing herself from us to take the call. She said it was work and I know how important that was.

"So, what's your plan now?" I asked Lucas as he was putting his hands in his pockets. He sighed before Lucas was looking at us. Lyana was leaning against me before I wrapped my hand around her waist. Lucas rolled his eyes at our affection.

"Sorry if you have to be a third wheeler," I said as I was smirking at Lucas. He waved his hand dismissively.

"No, it's fine. I was just distracted with something,"

"Oh, and what is that? Surely the great Lucas Dow was not distracted. I hope he would stay focus on the task that was assigned to him," I teased him before Lucas punched me on the shoulder as I laughed at his flustered face.

"It's the Citrine of Greece thieving. I have to retrieve it back," Lucas said before I was looking at Lyana. She shook her head.

"Well, why don't I treat you guys to a nice lunch? It is the last thing I can do for your support," I said as I was patting Lucas' shoulder and Lena was joining us.

"Sounds great. I'm famished," Lena said before we were heading toward the nearest restaurant next to the church.

I can hardly wait for this day to be over.

Lyana Debaux's POV

I was looking around the menu when Edmond decided that we will be trying some Greek food for our wedding celebration. I think it was a good idea as I never had Greek before.

"So, what are you guys getting?" Lena asked us before I was still deciding between chicken grills or moussaka with grilled fish.

"Hmm, I don't know. It was hard to guess," I said as I was looking at Lena before she was smirking at me. I rolled my eyes before I was putting my menu and I asked my husband what he was having.

"What are you getting?"

"Some moussaka with grilled fish,"

"That what I was going for but we cannot have the same dish then. So I will stick with grilled chicken then," I said as I was smiling before Lucas put his menu down. Lena called for our waiter and we placed our orders.

"So, have you consider the honeymoon destination yet?" Lena asked as I was sipping on the Chardonnay that Edmond ordered a bottle.

"I don't know. Sicily sounds fun but I don't want to mix pleasure with business," I said as Edmond smirked before Lucas was whispering something to him. I wondered what they talked about before Edmond cleared his throat and he was looking at me with his blue eyes.

"I think I have come up with a solution then," he said as I was arching my eyebrows at him. Edmond smirked before he was announcing our honeymoon destination.

"We will be going to Porquerolles,"
