Chaaya gave me a glass of water. I took it from her and drank. She was staring at me. I turned away from her and started my story.
"After few month of struggle, my mom gave birth to me. My dad took me away from her. They locked her up inside the room. My dad hired a nurse and a care taker for mom and baby sitter for me. He became very busy and he never came home.
When I was 5 years old, I understood that my family was not like other family. My mom was not mentally stable and my dad didn't want to see my mom like that. So he came home once in a while to see me and mom. In that 5 years, he became the No.1 business man and very rich. He never had a problem for Money. But we never lived as a family under a roof. My dad had lot of enemies because of his success. So he always carried a gun with him. Where he go.
One day no one was there in home. My care taker when out to get groceries. Mom care taker and a nurse took a day off. So my care taker had to take care of Mom as well. I thought to sneak inside her room and see what was she doing. because they never allowed me to get inside that room. I walked towards the place where we keep all the keys. I took all the keys without knowing which one was for that room. I tried one by one. At my 7th attempt, I opened that room. I sneaked inside the room and saw my mom who was sitting on the floor in one corner with a cute doll in her hand. Her eyes were empty and they didn't hold any emotions. I walked towards her and pounced on her and hugged her tightly. I held her neck tightly. I was feeling the mother's fragrance for the first time. She pushed me away from her.
"Who are you? Why are you hugging me?" She asked angrily.
"Mom" I called her.
My mom turned towards me and glared at me.
"Why can't you be like all the moms? I asked her.
She didn't talk anything. She was simply staring at me. I tried to hug her again. But she pushed me away again.
"Mom, Let me hold you for a moment" I started crying while saying this. She pulled my arm and made me sit on her lap and held me tightly. I held her back even tighter. I heard a sound of someone walking towards us. We both turned and looked. It was dad. He was shocked seeing us in that position. Mom never allowed anyone to touch her. But she held me tightly in her arms. When she saw dad, she became nervous and held my neck tightly. I was feeling suffocating.
"Mom, you are choking my neck" I said her when I was trying to escape from her grip.
"If you try to come inside, I will kill your son" She said in a scared voice. I was so shocked hearing what she said.
"No Andrea, Leave him. I will not come inside. I promise." He said while moving bit by bit towards us.
"He is the one who separated you from me. He went far away from me Joshua."
"Andrea please. He is our son. You can't do this to our son" He said worriedly. But she tightened her grip on my neck. I was struggling to breath. I was fighting against her to get myself out of her grip.
"Andrea, He is our son baby. You can't do this to our son" He was a bit close to us.
"I will kill him. If he is not here, you would not lock me up in this room. I would have been able to do whatever I wanted". She blurted while took a knife under a carpet and took that near to my neck. I was struggling a lot.
"I think I don't have option Andrea. I am so sorry. Forgive me" He said as he took his gun out and shoot her on her forehead. I was frozen. My mom hands fell down. My dad was crying like he was going to cry. Choosing one among the two people you love was more difficult. My dad chose me.
