Another gunshot echoed through the lobby, there was no time to chase after that one harpy. There wasn't even time to put the knife back into its sheath. Holding it firmly in my right hand I rushed back into the corridor and jumped out through the first foodcourt on my left.
"Karen!" My voice was carried through emptiness. Nothing until I was about to shout her name again.
"H...help me!" her voice echoed from somewhere within part where luggage belts were. It didn't take me too long to forget about that small harpy, sprinting down I made sharp turn running under the food court deeper into the terminal. Tents here were torn and messier than those at the front of the building.
"Nathan help me it's dragging me into sorting halls!" heavy breaths were filling space between her words as she fought with her enemy.
-was there another gron?- before my brain could give me answer Karen's scream filled the room where luggage used to be taken by passengers. Right as I came to that part of building she got dragged into the other hall where employees were operating those conveyor belts.
"Karen!" I shouted and ran right to doors where her bangs disappeared.
As I follow the trail on my left was conveyor belt that went through the wall to part from which I came here. Following it through the room with my eyes there was nothing unusual. Fingers around my knife locked in a death grip and chill rushed through my spine as there was nothing. Not a slight trace of Karen or anything that might attack her. Luggage thrown here and there. Near roll, doors were an old car used for pulling carts stuffed with bags. In the middle was huge machine that sorted all the baggage and sends it to different parts of the arrival hall. Other than that few sleeping bags and some tools lying here and there... no sign of anything violent happening here.
"Hello?" lump in my mouth made it really hard for me to talk.
"Karen?" another word run from my dry mouth out.
Kicking things aside I move deeper into the hall. The soft smell of hot boiling chocolate filled my nose as I get close to the belt in the middle. Chocolate scent gets stronger with each inhales and bit by bit I calm my mind. My muscles relax and I sigh in relief when I see Karen standing on the other side of the conveyor belt.
"You scared shit out of me Karen." I was so happy to see her standing that my eyes slowly watered.
"Nathan..." somewhat familiar voice said my name from the hall I came from.
-who could that be?- my mind slowly drifted away as I glare at Karen. She quietly stood waiting for me to get on the other side of that belt.
"Nathan, where are you?!" that voice sounded pushy and annoying, why do I even know someone who is that annoying?
-shh, we are safe- my thoughts put me at ease.
"Nathan I swear to god if you died on that harpy I kill you again!" I opened eyes on the thought of dying and at the place where Karen stood was something of her shape.
That creature had the size of Karen and even her outfit. dark leggings with knee pads, high boots, and belts holding magazines with ammo for her rifle. Dark brown jacket and a gray shirt. her mas resting on top of her head and from beneath it, her red hair embracing her shoulders.
It took me a while, Starring at her I couldn't figure out what is wrong. but longer I stare she gave me feeling like her whole body id made out of worms that are constantly moving. A loud crack echoed as from impostors back flew out tentacles wrapping around my wrists and legs, she yanked with those around my legs and I fell on the ground.
Karen's voice that led me here changed, it was a breathless ear-piercing scream that made my skin shiver like nails on a blackboard does.
my foot stuck on the side of the belt and she tried to pull me closer.
my mouth parted as I wanted to shout for help, but another tentacle made of worms went right into my mouth. she pushed those worms down my throat and they slowly get thicker as they try to rip apart my throat
Choking and gagging sound was all that left my mouth. Kicking with feet I tried to free myself but soon my body just shook in agony as there was no air to breathe in.
Tears running down my cheeks as there was no air in my lungs, my muscles tenses and relax constantly as my whole body is on the brink of collapse.
A deep growl echoed through the sorting hall and something jumped above me over the conveyor belt and attacked the impostor.
