Chapter 18 - 18. Action Director

Rowan stopped thinking about it and asked the burly man about the situation of the "The Mask of Zorro" crew.

He's not a newcomer to Hollywood now either.

After playing major supporting role and frequently chatting with people, Rowan had some superficial understanding of Hollywood, and he decided to do some research whenever he joins a new crew.

Once you have the intelligence, you will know what to do and how to seize opportunities and avoid risks.

The strongman told him many things he knew.

For example, it was TriStar Pictures and Steven Spielberg who initially worked on The Mask of Zorro.

Later, due to various reasons, the filming was postponed from October 1992, and capital such as Amblin Entertainment and McDonnell/Parks Productions was attracted to share the cost.

As time went by, super director Steven Spielberg had a new project and gave up the idea of directing it himself, and instead became a producer...

With just a few pieces of information, Rowan roughly understood the food chain of the "The Mask of Zorro" crew.

It seems that the film is led by director Martin Campbell, but the right to speak is firmly in the hands of Steven Spielberg.

However, with DreamWorks and other projects to deal with, Steven Spielberg doesn't have that much energy.

In other words, when Steven Spielberg is not around, director Martin Campbell will be the boss.

Because of this, when director Martin Campbell fell ill the filming of "The Mask of Zorro" was suspended.

If it was a normal two-strong structure, after the director falls, the producer can still lead the assistant director to continue working and not waste time.

Rowan analyzed the situation in his mind, but remained expressionless as he chatted with the burly man.

Soon the business car arrived at the set. Rowan went to the interview first.

Although he has been busy during this period, he has never stopped exercising and is actively learning new skills.

Although after clearing the "Face/off" copy as the Sean Trice, he was only given his fighting skills and shooting skills which Rowan already had still it improves his physical fitness even further

He simply showed off my skills, easily passed the interview, and got a contract paying $20,000 a month.

After signing the contract, Rowan diligently helped the team move.

It was a three-hour drive to Tlaxcala, where the crew built the Montero estate and part of the town set.

Some of the leading actors are training here, with motion designers demonstrating and choreographing the movements next to them.

Rowan's eyes swept over the leading actors. Men are not important. Anyway, no one is as handsome as him.

Leading actress Catherine Zeta -Jones made him take a second look.

The long black curly hair is like a waterfall, the melancholy and charming amber eyes, and she is born with a unique classical romantic temperament. She is a beauty that amazes people at first sight.

In terms of appearance, Rowan prefers Catherine Zeta-Jones to Charlize Theron in "The Devil's Advocate".

"But it has nothing to do with me."

Rowan admired it for just a few seconds and then politely stopped looking at it.

The burly man pointed at the man in the center and whispered, "That's Antonio Banderas. He plays the leading role, Young Zorro."

"He is very dedicated and a perfectionist. He practiced with the Spanish Olympic fencing team for four months and spent extra time every day watching movies and videos to study his moves. His attitude is worthy of recognition, but we all don't like him."

"Why?" Rowan asked to which the strongman replied

"He likes to express his opinions and is not easy to get along with. We all call him Angry Bob in private. He uses five curse words in ten sentences to his wife. My friend, I suggest you don't talk to him too much, otherwise he will make you so angry that you may die of anger."

Is it that exaggerated?

When Rowan was doubtful, he saw Antonio Banderas and said, "I want to design a better fencing move."

"Mr. Banderas, do we really need to change this fencing fight? I think this version is already very good."

The action director is very confident in the actions he designed.

Antonio Banderas pondered for a moment and shook his head: "It doesn't feel right."

The action director took a deep breath and asked, "What's wrong?"

Antonio Banderas couldn't explain it "It just wasn't right. It should feel better."

We are all here to make a living, so Party B should have Party B's attitude.

The action director endured it.

He discussed it with his companions, revised it, and then asked, "What now?"

Antonio Banderas still shook his head.

After revising it several times, Antonio Banderas said, "I think the first version is still the best."

"I...."

The action director looked like he wanted to beat Antonio Bandera s to death.

Others quickly pulled him back "Forget it, Mr. Jack, forget it, it's just work..."

Bang!

The action director slaps himseIf.

"Teacher Jack, don't do this! Don't do this, Teacher Jack!"

The farce lasted for a while before being stopped.

Because Antonio Banderas was angry and said, "I don't care what you think, I only care what I think!"

Rowan understood why he was nicknamed 'Cranky Bob'.

This is not the reaction of a normal person when they feel guilty.

The sturdy man whispered, "Now you know why you shouldn't talk to him anymore, right?"

Rowan nodded in agreement, thinking that this guy should be thankful for the rule of law if he wasn't beaten to death...

The sturdy man continued, "The newspapers all praised him for having a kind of semi-primitive and wild sex appeal that is rare in modern men. He is known as the public's Latin lover. I really don't know what the people will think about its latin lover. I really don't know what they are thinking. He has no charm, only wildness."

"I don't think he's very handsome, either. His eyes are weird, the whites of his eyes roll back too much, and his face shape is weird too. He's not as handsome as you, man I think he'll dislike you."

But Rowan didn't take him seriously, as he never gets forced to slap someone in the face just because he doesn't like them.

But later Antonio Banderas approached him and said, "I heard you are a a very creative action director. Can you design fencing moves?"

Rowan nodded: "Okay."

Antonio Banderas scratches his chin: "Please give this gentleman props."

A staff member handed over the prop sword.

Rowan weighed it.

It weighs about 500 grams, which is about the same weight as a real sword. The center of gravity is perfect, and it is worthy of being a prop customized by a large crew.

After getting used to the weight, Rowan swung the foil.

He may not be as good at fencing as a professional, but he has the basic skills and can still fence well.

But Antonio Banderas wasn't too happy.

"That's it?"

Antonio Banderas shook his head and sighed: "My expectations were too high."

Rowan: "..."

His blood pressure started to rise.

Originally, he had a little bit of affection for the male lead.

It is an actor's duty to prepare for a movie role in advance, but Antonio Banderas insists on going through every action scene himself without a stunt double. This shows how dedicated he is.

Rowan admires such dedicated actors.

But he really can't stand Antonio Banderas's mouth.

Fuck, who is this!

However, Rowan also knew that his fencing skills were just barely acceptable.

After all, I haven't learned fencing professionally.

Rowan had no intention of going back on his word, and secretly worked hard to hone his fencing skilIs and speak with strength. While doing that he also found out that his Dream Dungeon works even as a Action Director but in this Dream Dungeon he couldn't do anything and only watch it through a third person perspective Rowan understood that this would be really useful for a director as he would have the whole movie already there for him as a reference but it wasn't useful to him now. Maybe in the future when tries his hand in directing he can use this but for now it's not useful.

For the next half month, the crew continued to prepare and they were designing the actions.

After many revisions, it was shown to director Martin Campbell for review.

Director Martin Campbell was satisfied, but he always took Antonio Banderas's opinions into consideration.

At this time, Antonio Banderas was overly demanding of perfection.

Martin Campbell knew but was in no hurry.

He's still lying down anyway. Let Antonio Banderas do it, maybe he can come up with something better...

The unlucky second-party action design met Antonio Banderas, and each version was forced to be better than the last.

The price he paid was that the action director lost a lot of hair, his personality became increasingly irritable, and he accumulated a lot of negative emotions.

Rowan is in a good mood. To understand the reason is that he is a salary thief.

"I feel much better when I think about being able to take advantage of capital." Rowan mumbled but his good days didn't last for long.
