Chapter 23 - 23. Rising fame

"Our crew recognized this man's identity. His name is Rowan. He is our crew's action director. I think he may be able to help us promote "The Mask of Zorro"." The assistant stated

"oh?"

Before Steven Spielberg could say anything his phone rang and the caller was none other than his partner and friend Jeffery Ketzenberg.

"Jeffery weren't you busy negotiating with the author of kung fu panda where did you find the time to call me."

"Well, something happened and I couldn't meet the author because he stopped a robbery today and then decided to go back to join the film crew he was working in Mexico." Jeffery Ketzenberg said

"Rowan the Action Director of 'The Mask of Zorro' the author of Kung fu Panda." Spielberg said as he had just heard the name from the assistant.

"Yes, looks like you have also heard about the robbery. This guy is also an actor and has already played an important supporting actor in John Woo's Face/off. I heard he is the 2nd important actor after the two male leads, I know 'The Mask of Zorro' is having some problems why don't you cast him to increase the exposure of the movie"

"Ok, Jeffery. I will looks into it."

"Then I won't disturb you anymore." Jeffery said then disconnected the call

Steven Spielberg has now became interested and walked out of the temporary meeting room.

When he got outside, the TV was broadcasting the robbery news where the rest of the members who got out of the room early were watching the news as well.

"Two robbers, five rifles, and 18 kilograms of bulletproof vests suppressed the LAPD for 20 minutes."

"The 75-round drum magazine consumed 3,000 rounds of ammunition, causing 18 police officers to be injured, but in the end, it was a caring citizen who subdued them."

"I'm not going to discuss whether the LAPD is incompetent or not. I just want to say this is a hero, a real superhero living around us!"

The camera was very close, giving a super close-up of Rowan's handsome face.

Steven Spielberg looked at this handsome face with interest and commented pertinently "His conditions are no worse than Leonardo DiCaprio's."

Martin Campbell "I've heard of this name. He's an excellent action director, but I didn't expect him to be so handsome. He's not of the same type as Leonardo Dicaprio, but they're equally charming."

"Action director, so he can also fence, right?"

Listening to the reporters' flattery and watching Rowan being chased by male and female fans for autographs on TV, Steven Spielberg was thoughtful.

After a moment, he nodded his glasses with a smile on his face "They say that The Mask of Zorro had bad luck, but now something good is happening."

Someone nearby said: "Mr. Spielberg is right. This proves that we are getting lucky. This movie will surely be a success after the setbacks."

A few words of flattery made the atmosphere much more relaxed.

They returned to the temporary meeting room to continue the discussion.

It was two days after the robbery when Rowan returned to the set of The Mask of Zorro. There was no way Mary would let him come here before they can use his new found fame to good use.

After getting off the plane, Rowan saw an old acquaintance.

"Long time no see, buddy."

The sturdy man waved his hand and a sked sourly, "Your face has been all over the TV these past two days. How does it feel to be famous?"

"not bad." Rowan laughed.

The North Los Angeles bank robbery made Rowan famous.

His name spread all over the West Coast.

There were also media interviews in several major cities on the East Coast.

And as time goes by, Rowan's popularity is still skyrocketing at an extremely astonishing rate.

First of all, the North Los Angeles bank robbery was indeed a major event that shocked the whole country.

Two robbers - since one was subdued, strictly speaking there was only one when the frontal shooting began - faced off against many of police officers.

The police officers were outnumbered one by one. Things like this have too much impact.

As we all know, big events are the fastest way to become famous. Rowan became famous across the country as the storm of the great robbery spread.

If you add the prefix 'You are a super handsome guy', it is like adding a rocket booster at the end.

If you add the halo of "You are a super handsome guy and a genius student who got full scholarship for USC."

That's incredible. It's not just going to heaven, this is a direct warpdrive that exceeds the speed of light.

Unfortunately, Rowan is such a genius academic master and super handsome guy.

Rowan experienced a process of becoming famous at a faster-than-light speed, and he is now the man with the highest traffic in the United States.

Being praised by others is always a refreshing thing, and Rowan is no exception.

But for him, 'fun' is more important. For example, dream copies, for example, real things.

Fortunately, Mary was good at seizing opportunities and used the traffic to bring him benefits.

Several carefully selected advertising endorsements, each priced between US$500,000 and US$1 million per year.

It's not very high, but the advantage is that payment is simple and easy and does not take too much time.

In just a few days, Rowan's deposit soared to about 3 million US dollars, an increase of two orders of magnitude, this is not including the profit he gained from investing his previous money in tech companies.

Recalling the experience, Rowan said sincerely: "Being handsome can indeed be the best thing that happens to someone."

"That's great..."

The strong man felt even more sour.

Fortunately, Rowan's attitude is no different from before.

After bumping the strong man's shoulders and chatting with him for a while, the relationship between the two men returned to normal.

The sturdy man felt better, patted Rowan on the back, and pulled his suitcase in to the trunk.

Back on the set of The Mask of Zorro, many staff members ran to Rowan's side.

Rowan's attitude towards them was still as friendly and enthusiastic as before.

This left the staff with a very good impression of Rowan.

Fame and fortune can easily alienate people.

Rowan is only 17 years old, but he remains true to himself in the face of fame and fortune. Who doesn't want to make friends with such a person?

But Rowan didn't really regard fame and fortune as nothing.

He also drifted by.

But when he returned to the crew of "T he Mask of Zorro" and thought about the end of Antonio Banderas, Rowan returned to the earth.

This person is a lesson for us!

Even an idiot with low emotional intelligence knows what to do, let alone a genius like Rowan who has extremely high emotional intelligence and EQ.

With his feet on the ground and the virus not occupying the IQ high ground, Rowan certainly won't make the same mistake.

Being humble won't cost you anything, and having more friends means you have more paths to take, so why not do it?

While Rowan was enjoying expanding his network, the assistant director called them together to discuss the script.

It included the main members of each department, including Rowan.

The group arrived at the office.

There are already quite a few people here, and in the front row is a middle-aged Jewish man wearing glasses.

Steven Spielberg? Not gone yet. Rowan was a little surprised.

On second thought, the leading male role has not been decided yet, so it makes sense for producer Steven Spielberg to stay.

He sat down without thinking much.

After everyone gathered, Martin Campbell presided over the meeting and discussed the script in a friendly manner.

Rowan flipped through the script that was handed to him.

It is much more complete than the previous version he came across, and most of the content is pasted on it.

The background of "The Mask of Zorr o" is 1821, when Spain's three hundred years of rule over Mexico ended.

That was the appearance of the legendary hero Zorro.

The scene then turns to twenty years Iater, when Montero leads his army back to Mexico in an attempt to establish the independent California Republic.

The elderly Zorro stepped forward again, but he was indeed unable to do enough.

He needs a successor.

He trained Alessandro (the male protagonist), a young peasant who had a deep hatred for the nobles, into a new generation of Zorro. He fought side by side with Alessandro, eventually killing Montero and rescuing a large number of miners.

The film's theme of revenge is what brings the new and old Zorro together.

But soon as the new Zorro set out and witnessed the miserable plight of the gold miners, his desire for revenge gradually shifted to a more noble goal: to rescue the exploited miners and destroy the conspiracy of the nobles.

The theme has shifted to the legendary and passionate color of a heroic movie.

Justice was once again served, and evil finally suffered its consequences.

Rowan muttered to himself, "It's a familiar routine."
