Chapter 77 - Finding the Rat Den

The villagers had all been warned of the guardians message but after the sound of continued screaming was heard from the small hut, the villagers couldn't help but wonder what was happening inside of the hut which had been sealed off from them.

A small crowd formed outside of the radius of the building trying to get some idea of what was happening. Suddenly the screams were cut off and the door of the hut opened up, the guardian emerged covered in blood splatters from head to toe, the villagers curiosity was heightened even further.

"Well I have all of the information that I require, and don't worry about the guy in there, he has already been delt with."

He began walking away from the hut and the crowd parted to let him pass by them. Some of the adults walked over to the entrance of the hut and saw what had been left behind by the guardian, afterwhich they instantly shut the door so the children would not be able to see what had happened. The person was cut into pieces at each of the joints and each if the pieces were plated in a thin metal with made the corpse look like a broken statue. They decided to despose of the body at a later date.

Gordan walked through the village until he came upon Bjorn who was with the small child Lily. Gordan walked to them with the cat creature following close behind him.

"Well, we had better be on our way Bjorn, I have the location of the main base, but we have to act quickly on the information."

Bjorn stood up after saying his goodbyes to Lily, and followed Gordan without saying a word. The two of them walked to the shoreline without saying a word and then Gordan began to walk into the water.

"You know that I can't breath under water, nor am I able to swim extreme distances easily."

Gordan snapped his fingers and a bubble formed around Bjorn who started to emediatly try to escape the bubble which was drawing closer and closer to the water.

"Don't worry about the transportation it is perfectly safe."

The guardian acted like it was dealing with a headache because he kept gripping the sides of his head at his temples periodically. Bjorn stopped struggling and just let the bubble float under the surface of the water. Bjorn was greeted with something that he had never experienced before. The beauty of the water under the surface was breathtaking, he had been under the surface of the water but he had never seen it so clearly before. The bubble acted as a lense that enabled him to see the beauty of the ocean. Once his awe had died down he noticed that the guardian was swimming next to the bubble directing its course, the odd thing was, he couldn't see the cat creature that usually was with the guardian. He was looking around when he heard the sound of a cat at his feet.

"So that is where you were. How did you get in here without me noticing?"

Bjorn sat down in the bubble and picked up the cat creature placing it in his lap while they both watched the beauty of the sea pass by them. Bjorn was so transfixed on the wonders that he was witnessing that he didn't notice that they had arrived at their destination. Gordan pulled the bubble up to the surface and maintained it until they reached dry land. They were on a small island which was covered in thick vegetation and rocky cliffs.

"Well then, let's get to work shall we?"

Gordan rubbed his hands together and began walking toward the coastline which was covered in spiky rocks and fallen debris, with Bjorn following behind him silently.

Gordan walked softly across the beach not leaving a trace of his presence in the area which was quite the odd sight to see since not even his footprints could be seen in the sand that he had just walked across. Given his size it was even more shocking, Gordan could tell that he weighed more in this form than he had previously by quote a large margin and so it was also odd for him. He wondered if it was a natural trait of a guardian, but then he remembered that even if he resembled a guardian, he was not one by any means. He was a product of an over imaginative system that had only desired to see how far it could bend his genes before they broke, resulting in his current appearance which coincidently resembled the guardian race.

He could smell the stench of unfamiliar humans in the direction of the cliffs and that was why he had directed them towards that way. The person that he questioned had informed him that the group often moved their location around the island depending on the captains mood on that day. so he wouldn't have known where the actuall headquarters was anyway. Gordan had been quite satisfied with the amount of information that he had gained from the captive who had eventually succumb to the pain after losing his arms and legs one joint at a time, and even though Gordan sped up the usual process it was still quite the effective method of doing things, especially when it came to the psychological trauma that was afflicted when the person didn't die no matter how much pain they endured.

Gordan took a deep breath of the sea air and looked at the nature around him, the trees were reminiscent of the first time he had seen an island like this. The blues of both the sky and ocean complimented the differing shades of green which indicated the depth of the greenery in certain areas. It looked like a picture that was longing to be painted, but as Gordan was no artist he would leave that for another to accomplish.

Bjorn noticed the guardians rather nostalgic look and wondered if the guardian had some fond memories attached to this place. The guardian was much more odd then he had expected him to be, and in some ways he was also much more powerful than he had expected. Bjorn could never tell what was on the guardians train of thought, he hadn't really shown any particular emotion other than a slightly joking way of being which felt almost like a cover over something much darker. Something seemed to be unnatural about the guardian over all but since he hadn't spent all that much time around him he wasn't really sure what that could be, or if it was even an actuall problem at all since it was very likely that it could all be in his head.

"We're here."

The guardian raised up his hand for the ones behind him to stop and emedeatly both Bjorn and the cat creature became completely still like statues. Before he had realised it they had already reached their destination. Bjorn looked around Gordan to get a better veiw of what was in front of them, and found that they were at the top of a kind of cliff that suddenly had appeared in front of them. From a distance the entrance had been completely blocked from veiw, but now that he could see it, Bjorn was shocked to see that is was large enough to fit a large ship through easily. Below them he could hear the low murmer of people speaking amongst themselves about something that he couldn't quite make out. Gordan on the other hand was able to hear the conversation like he was standing right next to them.

The conversations were mostly worthless information, but none of it escaped his hearing from general conversations to ones that were of a more important degree.

Gordan smiled a bit after gaining all of this interesting information, now all he had to do was deal with this in the most interesting way that he could think of at the moment.
