The child fell back and the adults looked between themselves uncomfortably.
"Well that was some greeting, what was it that you needed exactly?"
Gordan smiled a rather broad and not at all threatening smiled, which made all those present tremble in fear. They looked from one to the other and back at the child who was still staring and pointing at Gordan in fear. He looked at them with mild attention and then went back to stroking the cat creature on his lap. The adults started to come forward to pull the child away as she didn't seem to be in a state to speak, but the winds got much faster and did not let them pass any further than the line of flower petals. Gordan sighed and turned his attention back to the child in front of him.
"What seems to be the problem young one? Or is it usual to point and stare at people while screaming bloody murder?"
His smile got thinner and the cat creatures eyes narrowed down while it seemed to be assessing the child's exsistance. Gordan leaned forward and flicked the petrified child's forehead sending her tumbling back to the edge of the area where the adults pulled her out and began trying to comfort her and calm her down.
"Sigh... This is rather monotonous, do you need something or did you come here to give me a headache?"
The cat creature also let out a bit of a sigh and tried to settle back onto his lap, but Gordan gently picked it up and set it on his shoulder before standing up from his seat. He took a step forward and paused to let the cat creature re-adjust comfortably on his shoulder so that he wouldn't have to worry about the creature falling off. When he was satisfied he walked the rest of the distance and crouched down next to the group which had been focusing their attention on the child.
"I will ask you once more before I require you to leave this place. What is it that you need from me?"
He let his teeth show and the three of them shivered in fear once more. The child suddenly stood up and got between him and the others holding up her arms to stop him from coming any closer.
"I am the one who has business with you guardian, please do not involve others who are not related to this situation for no reason."
Gordan turned his head to the side slightly and then waved his hand dismissively.
"Fine, then tell me what you want. I have been waiting here in sleep, and you have awoken me. What could possibly be so important."
He snapped his fingers and the three others disappeared leaving the child, Gordan, and the cat creature, plus one headache for Gordan. He knew that the guardian race had control over certain elements of nature that were not really tied to magic affinity, but he wasn't quite a full fledged member of that race, and even if he could use the abilitys in his current form he still needed to train those kinds of skills to be able to use them properly. So in this case using magic was the more easy way of doing things, even if he did end up with a headache for his troubles.
The small child was trying to put on a brave face, but he could see that she was shaking in her boots. He let his face fall down into a natural expression to make her more comfortable. He was rather pleasantly surprised that his smile didn't effect them all that much in this form, but if he had to guess it was most likely either a result of him not having settled into his skin yet, or his new appearance acting as a type of mask to protect the people. Suddenly while thinking of that he remembered that the guardian shook his hand earlier, which made him curious about what he could have done during the hand shake. He made a small motion with his hand and a small mirror made of water to look at his appearance and scowled at the cat creature on his shoulder who looked away in an innocent way like it didn't know that anything was wrong. Gordan scratched at the paint on his face but it was like it had been fused to his skin. He now didn't wonder why the child had been slightly scared of his appearance his skin had been coated down to the base of his neck with a deep black that made it look like there was nothing there, over which was painted the the upper part of a skull which cut off the jaw. The thing was a pure white color that seemed to glow in comparison to the deep black which was around it. Pair that with the red of his eyes and he could see why they had been afraid, and he indeed wouldn't have been surprised if they had called him a monster. He sighed and made the water mirror disappear turning his attention back to the child. He knew he should actually be happy that one of them had remembered what happened when he smiled, but it was still slightly annoying how things had gone down without his knowledge.
"Seriously kid, this is a waste of my time you know."
The child who had been in a daze while he was looking at the water mirror suddenly snapped out of it and looked serious again. This kind of reminded Gordan of several times when he had been speaking to people, in that village of people who had betrayed him earlier on in his journey, which in turn made him think about the others who were now on their ways once more, moving on with their lives, while he was in this place having to deal with another child again, it almost seemed like some sort of pattern was forming in his life, which probably wouldn't be that bad since that ment he would meet people similar to the ones who's companionship he had greatly enjoyed. But it also ment that he would have to deal with idiots and annoying people which was never that fun, hopefully he wouldn't have to much of an emotional problem over things like this, but he assumed that he would go back into his rather unfeeling self after awhile.
"You see, I am a priestess from the flora village. I have come to seek your aid becouse our seer saw that you would help us with out current problem."
Gordan looked at the child for a bit wondering what all of this priestess garbage was about. Unless things had changed in the last bit, the tribes didn't have priestesses, and when they came to ask for a guardians help, they sent sacrifices who would be offered to the guardian to dispose of at the guardians discretion. So either things had changed or this child was sorely misinformed about the way that things worked. Gordan sighed and stood up walking back to his chair. Now that he had established the start of the conversation he needed to deal with this in the way that a guardian was supposed to.
This was a contract, and if he was going to play the part of a guardian then he would have to deal with things this way, even if he wasn't all that comfortable with contracts in general. Ever since he had broken from his own contract, other than the side effect of his arms being the way that they were he felt a sence of freedom that he hadn't experienced in to long of a time.
He sat in he chair and waited for the child to come forward.
"Do you understand what you are asking me at the moment?"
The child flinched and came forward sitting down in front of the chair, looking up at Gordan with resolve.
"Yes, I know what the price of the request is, and I am willing to pay that price for the sake of my village."
Gordan nodded his head.
"Good, so why call yourself a priestess? Never mind that's not important right now, state your business before the others return, not to mention the other one should be getting close soon."
The last part he said under his breath as far as the other intruder was concerned. The child straitened up and began her pitch.
"Our village is under attack due to a group of human pirates who have been attacking our shores and killing our people. Since most of our worriors were called by the monster king to a war council we have no way to stop the attacks, and they will soon destroy us completely. We need you to deal with them and in exchange I will work under you until you feel the debt has been paid."
The cat creature jumped back onto Gordan's lap and looked into the child's eyes carefully before turning back to Gordan and nodding its head.
"These will be the terms of the contract then. First, I will rid your village of the pirates and in exchange you will work for me for the span of five years unless the time is shortened for any reason. Second, no abuse of the contract will be tolerated, and anything over the parameters will be considered a breach of contract unless the contract is reprised by both contractors of free will and in their right mind. Thirdly in the case of one or both of the contractors dying the contract will become void. And finally if you try to betray this contract or me, you will be killed without hesitation. Do you agree to the terms?"
The girl swallowed and then held out her hand with her palm up. Gordan streached out his claw over her palm and the red glow on his arms intensified and began to glow brightly. The child flinched as a small amount of the red light transferred over to her and formed into a strange spider like pattern on the back of her hand. The glowing cooled off and Gordan removed his hand which had no such mark, since he was now in the role of a guardian and the oath on a guardians side was already set in stone.
Gordan picked up the cat creature and held it in one of his hands before standing to his feet.
"Well, we had better deal with these guests and then head out don't you think?"
Suddenly the sound of someone running up the stairs toward them. A figure burst over the last stairs and bounded toward Gordan brandishing a strange looking spear. The wind attempted to stop him but the person was able to push forward and strike out at Gordan, who caught the weapon without any problem.
"Lily, whatever you do don't sign the contract, brother came back and offered to take your place, he should be here any minute."
Gordan twisted the spear over his head dragging the person off of the ground and then slammed him onto the ground tipping the spear out of his hand. Before the person could react Gordan turned the spear around and poised it over his throat.
"You're a bit late I'm afraid, and you should really work on your manners you know."
