That same night as Emil was blushing deep red, a certain someone occupying a room on the same floor was fuming with anger.
Daniel had been calling Lina for ten whole minutes but not once had she answered the call ! He was fuming with rage
'What the hell !'
He had almost thrown his phone to wherever, when the phone beeped alerting him of a message
"Sorry friend, I was taking my bath that's why I couldn't answer your call. If you don't mind, should I call back?"
Daniel raised a brow when he read the last sentence, but the raised brow couldn't prevent his mind from wondering and imagining things pertaining to her first sentence.
'Stop being a pervert boy! ' he chided himself
Lina stared at her phone fixedly waiting to see a confirmation message from Daniel, but nothing happened as such after five minutes.
She began to worry 'Is he angry because I didn't answer his calls? But that shouldn't be, I've already explained my reason to him. Should I call? Maybe I shouldn't. Let's wait for some few more minutes' she concluded and placed her phone down.
Daniel didn't plan on testing her back, he had actually wanted to call immediately after reading her message but he just couldn't bring himself to.
'That girl sure did it on purpose! why must she say that to me ! Now look, my innocent mind is affected !'
The vibration of the phone startled him, he stares fixedly at the name popping up on the screen and felt shameful. And just like that the call ended.
Lina at this moment was consumed by worry, She couldn't comprehend why Daniel refuse to message her back or answer her call.
In her moment of worry, her phone rung. She jerked up from the bed and answered the call
"He.... hello?" Lina stammered as she said the word
When Daniel heard her soft voice, his earlier shame vanished into thin air and was replaced with mischief.
"Sorry friend, I was taking a shower so I didn't see your message, I saw it just now " Daniel smirked as he lied.
We have to be on the same boat. If you showered, then I also showered! It's simple. Daniel thought as he patiently waited for Lina to speak
"Oh, is that so? Okay. Bu...but why did you call in the first place? " Lina spoke as she sat back down on the bed. She felt something wasn't right about Daniel's words but she chose to keep mum about it.
"Huh? why did I call?" Daniel repeated her words, he had totally forgotten the reason for his earlier calls.
But in truth, he didn't have any agenda for calling Lina in the first place.
"Yeah, that's what I asked. Is there something I could help you with? " Lina rephrased her sentence thinking that Daniel didn't get her earlier question.
He softly chuckled ' Why is this girl asking again? I heard the first time alright ? Am just confuse as to what to say. '
"Oh yes, I called to inquire about Yvonne's date of birth. My brother wants to throw a party for her" Daniel smiled at how genius he is. He just wish his brother won't hold him up for this!
"Birth date? " Lina mumbled softly
"Yeah, her birth date" Daniel confirmed thinking Lina didn't get his earlier words
"But she no longer celebrates her birthday" Lina nervously said
"No longer?, And why's that? " Daniel further questioned
"It's a long story, and... and... " Lina's eyelashes turned moist.
She couldn't bring herself to tell him the reason behind her best friend not celebrating her birthday. Also she knew it wasn't her place to tell Daniel about it. Only Yvonne has the right to.
Daniel heard her words and felt some sadness in it so he stopped inquiring. He wasn't insensitive as to not know when someone doesn't want to continue a conversation.
But, there seems to be a major problem. What should he do now that this conversation has ended? He didn't want to end the call with her!
The silence brought awkwardness between the two. Daniel wanted to say something, Lina wanted to say something but none didn't know what to say.
"If there's nothing else, then am hangi....."
"Wait! " Daniel immediately cut through Lina's sentence " There's something"
"Okay" Lina said as she lied down on the bed. She lightly yawned, she was feeling sleepy as she had been busy the whole day accompanying her boss
" Can you design some clothes for me? I want to wear those during my upcoming concert. " Daniel heaved a sign of relief as he was finally able to come up with something !
But sadly for him, the person on the other side of the line was already in the dream land. How was it possible for her to respond!
When Daniel didn't hear any reply after some few seconds, he opened his lips to speak again when,
....... light snores could be heard over the line.
"What the hell ! this girl slept on me !" he cursed out
'Was he that boring to make her fall asleep while listening to him? ' he wondered
He made a sign to end the call when the girl's soft snores entered his ears. Her snores seemed like a beautiful rhythm to his ears.
He switched his phone to recording and recorded her light snores.
" I can make sounds from this" he thought
It could be crush, it could be like and it could also be love. But unconsciously, the process has already began for the two.
That night, two slept peaceful while two couldn't sleep until early morning before sleep took over them.
