Chapter 1 - Death is only the beginning

In a treacherous forest filled with savage beasts, a woman clutching her bleeding stomach stumbled into the woods to escape her pursuers. She was terribly wounded. Panting, she sat on a tree stump to catch her breath. " I never expected a betrayal from my friend. I should've put my guard up. Known as 'Ares', the god of war, how can I fall here like a pathetic weakling ? I will never accept death or defeat. Even if I have to fight the heavens to do so, I will not back down. "

All of a sudden, her consciousness was pulled into another dimension. " Not the icy one again. " her spirit/consciousness groaned. " Why ? Don't like it ? " rang a androgynous voice. " Why did you call me here ? " " My child, death is only a temporary lapse in memory, it is just changing your body for a new, cute one. Why fear it ? " " I can't. It is impossible for the god of war to die in a decrepit place like a nobody without a proper burial. " " The mother nature is your grave. Her embrace, your coffin. The raging winds and howling wolves are the messengers of your death. The sky is your shroud. The rain, tears of the family that send you on your way to the otherworld. I am the priest for this ritual, the friend in your afterlife journey, the guide for your rebirth, the one who shall respectfully cremate your remains. You are a legend, your body may rot, but your legacy shall forever remain etched in the annals of this multiverse. Aren't you satisfied ? "

" Haah, fine, fine, I accept defeat. My father, oh the Almighty God. Just bless me with your grace. " Ares bowed her head and cupped her hands in respect. She felt her consciousness fading. Her body fell on the forest floor, lifeless, ragged, wounded, alone. The majestic Ares, who lived her life to the fullest, had fallen. The woman, whose name would never be forgotten, who was a legend, who spent her entire life battling her fate, could finally rest, in peace.

Her body was lifted by a gust of wind which carried it to the horizon, never to be seen again.

In a weird, somewhat sticky place, Ares felt her groggy consciousness return to reality. She felt as if suspended in a warm fluid, all her memories forgotten, her body feeling extremely heavy. She was pushed towards a vague source of light by some mysterious force.

" Ah! such a cute baby girl, can't we keep her ? " " We don't know her origin, she might be something dangerous," " Matriarch! she is just a baby, what if she is in a meteor that came from the sky ? she only appears adorable to me. " " Fine, but at the first sight of trouble, we are to ditch her, got that ? " " Yes, matriarch. "

Ares opened her eyes to see two women with pointy ears smiling at her. One of them carried her in her arms while other was peeking at her face. ~~Uwaaah~~ she let out a huge wail. She was an infant after all. She could only cry to express her hunger.

DEATH IS ONLY THE BEGINNING

Ares, who died, was now back, but as an infant found in a meteorite.
