I surveyed the area we're in. This is a more open space than the lower levels. The ceiling and walls are both place up high and so wide. I could speculate that if what threw the dog is bigger than the dogs. It'll have no problem walking in here.
Loud thundering stomps echoed. Then a roar vibrated through the floors. Stomp stomp. The sound we both can make out. There the one who threw the dogs. It was standing upright about nine feet tall. The head resembled the dog. Body with few select patches of fur. There were some parts covered with skin while other was some still bare flesh. It gave a loud roar.
Without even missing a beat. Julia fired three consecutive shots at the beast. As the blast hits the body only a small burn mark left. It seemed like the beast had a high pain tolerance. I was taken a shock by Julia's instinct that it took me a couple seconds late to fire as well. My blaster did the same damage as Julia which is to say not much.
The beast was pissed at us that it roared a deafening one. It smashed the floor destroying a chunk of it. It grabbed the chunk and hurled it to us. We rolled dodging the debris. Continued to fire at the beast.
"Run and shoot. Now!" I exclaimed as I grabbed Julia's wrist.
She picked her pace and started to run as well. We kept firing at the beast. The beast kept running as if the bullets were just nothing.
"Rover. Do you have any grenades left?" She asked through her breath.
"I have a few. But in this space, I doubt it'll work"
"Well we need to find a way to kill it"
"I'm working on it."
As we continued our cat and mouse. We unknowingly approached a small opening. Julia seemed to know what I was thinking.
"Control pannel by the door." She pointed out. I nodded.
Julia kept firing at the beast. I steadied my hand to aim at the control panel. Bang. First try. The doors slowly opened. By the looks of it, it was blast doors. Julia and I sprinted across the closing doors. Like action stars we gracefully made it as the doors slowly closed itself. I was on my ass sitting, I glanced at Julia and saw her near the door. My body involuntarily moved. I grabbed her by the shoulder and dragged her close to me. The door gave a loud bang as it closed.
A few seconds later a loud bang vibrated the doors. It was the beast trying to go inside. But the blast doors were holding it in. The dorr shaked. A few dust fall off.
"That won't hold it for long." Julia said as she pick her self up. She offered her hand to me.
"Go find the codex. I'll deal with this guy"
"But."
"I have a map and so do you. I'll go to you once it's dead"
She gave me a nod. She pulled out her copy of the tablet and walked off to the area where the codex is placed. I waited a little while for Julia to be out of range. The beast kept banging on the door. Soon few cracks emerged. A little more banging. I took a few steps back as I reloaded my blaster. The doors suddenly gave out, crumbling to the ground. The beast with its bloody fist roared.
I pulled out a small sonic grenade. I threw it which exploded on the beast. It temporarily incapacitated it, I saw this as an opportunity to run. And so I did. I ran and shot at the beast. The blast really doesn't affect it in the slightest.
I kept running from the beast. But I don't run aimlessly. I am running with the copy of the tablet in my display. I am trying my best to be out of Julia's way. To keep her and the codex safe. As I continued to review the tablet, I saw that we're on our way to a section that is diverging then merging a couple of blocks later. Basically a roundabout. As we approached it, I pulled some grenades and stuck it against the wall, just like before. I made a turn to the roundabout and detonated the bombs. The walls and ceiling exploded toppling the beast. The debris around its body is heavy but it's trying to stand. But because of the explosion it was partially weakened.
I took this opportunity to come over the beast. I took about three grenades. The beast still moving, I decided to sit on it's head. Using my hands I tried to pry open its mouth but it was no good. I grabbed a steel bar next to me and forced it to open. As I opened the mouth I immediately stuffed it like a turkey stuffing.
I got off the beast smiling. But the beast wasn't so keen on the idea of it being compared to a turkey. It stood up, seemingly recovered from the damaged I gave. I swallowed the grenaded like a soup and growled at me.
"Dammit" I said loudly as I looked at the beast.
The beast took a small step. Then it stopped. It caressed its belly. I took a moment to observe. Until I hear it. Small explosions, that's what I could make up. After a while the beast who stands tall and angry suddenly took a step back and collapsed. As it hit the floor its mouth opened and smoke came out.
"Well that did the trick." I grinned.
I went around the roundabout to where Julia is. I entered the place where the codex was said to be. There was a white room with rust, dust, and grimace. The entire room were filled with rows of computers. About three large computers screens were on front. They were the type of screens that were used on earth year 1980's or something like that. At the center is the codex. It was hovering in cased in glass with gold dust that appears to be going out of it. There was a large glass screen at the front.
I could almost say that this room looked like the NASA command center in the 80's. The only difference is there are six giant glass tubes on both left and right wing of the room. It was the size of the dogs. I saw Julia near one of the main computers.
"That's the codex" She pointed out.
"Pretty sure." I went closer into the computer.
I began to press random keys on the computer. Suddenly every computer on the room turned on. The gold dust on the codex multiplied. The glass tube turned on like a 3D printer. It started to print something.
"What'd you do?" Julia asked with a little anxiety.
"Oh. Son of a"
