"Human. Why have you disturbed my slumber?" The white wyvern's head moved forward until it's face was in front of them both. A pair of baby blue eyes just stared them both down as it awaited their response. It felt as though the wyvern was trying to test their reactions as it bared its pearl white teeth before them.
"I did know this place was your resting place. We were simply investigating what was below the city." Gunner spoke up as he took a step towards the wyvern in attempt to resolve the problem before him. He could feel Apollo's tail tightening around him as the demon worried how the wyvern would react to being approached so brazenly.
"What are you doing? What if that thing tries to eat you?" Apollo attempted to scold Gunner for his action but the man was not even listening to him. His purple eyes swiftly swept around the area to look for a way out of the place in case they had to rush for an exit.
"Eat you? Ahahaha!" The wyvern laughed as it heard Apollo's question directed at Gunner. It could only find amusement in the fact that the demon would judge it to be a man eating beast. Laughing hard the ground and walls around them began to quake until loose brick rained from the tunnel ceiling into the filthy waterway inside the sewer tunnel.
"You wont eat us then?" Apollo mockingly asked the question with a sarcastic smirk on his face. He did not believe the beast would be so kind as to allow them to leave after waking it. Only one of his ears seemed to flick back against his head as he stared forward at it while placing a hand onto Gunner's shoulder.
"Of course I wont eat you.. Filthy demon, why would I taint my diet for something like you." It's voice was cold and deafening as it's massive head shoved towards Apollo causing him to shudder. The wyvern's hot breath blowed his hair all about the air as it heavily exhaled on them both again. Gunner was thrown into a coughing fit as he tried to catch his own breath from the heat of the beast's breathing.
"Why are you below the city?" Gunner forced out the question in between his coughing while he kept his hand held up to his own mouth to guard his face from any further breathing down on them.
"Why? Why does the stars shine only at night? Why is the sky so vast and yet land is so minimal? Human, I need not validate my actions for your sake." Resting it's massive body down against the ground it kept its head held high while gazing down at them. Light trickled into the tunnel from holes in the ground above that made the faint gold tone around some of its white scales glisten in the light of the sunlight that escaped below the city to where the wyvern lay.
"Do you know where the hell hound den is? I heard it was sighted under ground as well. Are they-" Gunner found himself being cut off by the wyvern.
"Human, you dare question me like one of your mortal kin?" The wyvern's blue eyes seemed to crease shut only faintly as it glared Gunner down. It had never before met someone so willing to stand firm against it's presence and it made it feel slightly impressed by his determination.
"I meant no harm.. I just have someone I wish to aid.. If something happened to them while they try to keep me from getting involved.." Gunner grit his teeth as he thought of how Prince Clyde always kept leaving him out of everything that involved the restoration of Abaron City. At his side he could feel the grip of Apollo's hand tightening from his words. He was not sure if Apollo felt jealous over the mention of Clyde or was trying to comfort him but the feeling of knowing he was there was enough to calm him down almost instantly so that he could hold focus on his task.
"Hahaha! This one has spunk he does!" The wyvern laughed out loud again as it slowly raised to it's feet once more using it's wings to brace himself upward. Everything around shook as its tail slammed against the sides of the tunnel causing rubble and water to splatter all around.
"What the hell?" Apollo shouted the question as he tried to hold both himself and Gunner steady where they stood with the aid of his tail.
"Human, I do not know where this so called nest of the hell hounds are among Abaron." The wyvern paused for a moment as it thought about something before continuing. "I like your spirit, however, so I will gift you with one thing."
"What do you-?" Before Gunner could ask fully what the white wyvern meant by its own words the beast flung its head and wings against both the ceiling and the walls of the underground sewers. With its massive head and wings smashing the ceiling wide open from above the light of day shone brightly down on them. Gunner and Apollo were both huddling together under the body of the massive beast in order to escape the falling rubble so that they would not be smashed to death as it came crashing down around them.
"Mind your surroundings, Human." Its voice called out from above as it stood up on one leg to use its other foot to grab the both of them together. Apollo's face flushed faintly as his chest was pressed firmly up against Gunner's from the way the wyvern was holding onto them. They both wanted to speak up about the situation but before they had a chance to it began to scale its way up out of the sewers through the hole it had made in the ceiling so that it could climb straight up onto the city road above.
Releasing a deafening roar into the city streets many glass windows that were still intact shattered instantly from the force of power behind the beast's call. Slowly the three of them began to ascend into the sky as it beat its wide wings against the air. Gunner and Apollo could both feel their hearts racing as the city ground began to fade into the distance below them. It was not the height that scared them because they both had been in high places before but the fact that they were being carried away by a white wyvern that made them worry what was in store for them.
