Walking down the streets of Abaron you could see the wildlife growing up over the buildings where no one had been taking care of the spread of wildlife. Trees that had fed on the energy of the magical beasts had already begun to tower over some of the buildings while other plants and vines had clung onto the ruins of abandoned buildings. In some areas of the city it was impossible to tell where the city began and wildlife started. The scent of plants and dirt had a strange combination of blood and oil to it that was sickening for most with sensitive noses while for those who had lived in the city long enough with higher tolerance could hardly notice it anymore. When it came to Gunner he had a strange fondness for the smell that made it almost seem intoxicating to him.
Pushing open a heavy door to head into an abandoned building that no longer had a sign he could see the ruins of what use to be a mall. At the top of the building he could see a huge skylight ceiling that allowed the sun to shine through and brighten the inside of the building. Many of the stores still had their gates locked down but there were a few who'd left their gates open for what use to be common stores for the city mall. Turning towards the door he had pushed open he returned it to it's closed position so that no wild beasts could just walk right in behind him.
Wandering around the mall for a while he could not help checking out what things were left behind to see if there was anything useful he could return to the mansion with. Days in the city had began to bore him without something to do when he was kept indoors while the prince was working. His eyes had wandered around but nothing could catch his eye. After a while of searching he eventually found himself walking into a Jewelry store without realizing where he had began to walk.
Glancing around out of simple curiosity his eyes eventually connected with a chain necklace that was silver in color. He could not help picturing the necklace around the neck of Prince Clyde as he stared at it. Contemplating on the thought of picking it up for the man he stood there in silence for a while. Picking up the chain necklace he placed it into his pocket and left the store he was in to check the next one. His fingers gently toyed with the necklace inside of his pocket as he wondered if it would seem a bit too much to give it to him.
The rest of his searching did not lead to much but that did not bother him because there was an actual team that went out to make trips for the real things he would need back at the mansion. Gunner only left the mansion at times because he enjoyed the freedom he got to do whatever he wanted and explore how the city was developing. There were safe zones for survivors that were protected by those Prince Clyde would assign to the task of looking over and protecting while the city was still being swept clean of it's infestation of demon beasts.
As Gunner was walking he could hear the sudden sound of footsteps from somewhere close by. His eyes glanced around to try and find the source of the noise but he could not pin down it's location.
Gggrrrrr..... Gggrrrrrrrrrr...
Fierce growling could be heard causing Gunner to quickly turn and glance towards one of the locked down stores. Behind the gate that was pulled to the floor stood a massive hell hound. It's fierce jaws snarling as drool fell to the floor where it stood. The fur of the beast was pitch black in color and it's white pupil-less eyes were staring him down as it obviously desired to devour him whole. Gunner would not help but sigh in relief that it was locked behind a gate so that he would have time to get out of the mall.
Ooooo!
The beast bellowed out a piercing howl that caused Gunner's body to shudder slightly as he glanced around to check his surroundings as he heard the sounds of more steps being taken. From all around he could see several hell hounds jumping out from different places they had been resting. Shattering glass flew everywhere as one hell hound jumped right through a glass window in order to get out of the store it had been asleep in.
"Well shit!" Gunner shouted quietly under his breath at himself.
One.. Two... He thought to himself as he glanced around at the beasts while his feet took slow and quiet steps backwards towards the closest way out he could see. There was an emergency exit not far from where he stood and he could only pray that it was unlocked so that he could escape.
"Three!" He shouted out loud to himself as his body twisted around as fast as he could. His feet leading him straight for the exit with a pack of wild hell hounds taking chase from behind after him. Their loud hungry growls and barks could be heard clear as day to him. Slamming his hands into the exit door it flung open so that he could jump outside fast and slam the door shut behind him.
BAM! BAM! BAM!
Holding the door firm he could feel the hounds slamming their heavy bodies against the door from the other side as they tried to get out after him. Giving them a moment to calm down he quickly took to running again. He knew they would not give up that easily with him right on the other side of the door so he had to get as far away as possible. As soon as he had left the door and resumed his running he could hear the sound of the door being smashed down from the hungry beasts as they resumed their hunt.
