Chapter 9 - Chapter 9

As the light of day shined through the window into Prince Clyde's room Gunner's eyes slowly fluttered open. The first thing he saw when waking up was the sight of Clyde at his desk looking over more paperwork. He was not surprised to see the man working away again because that was what he spent most of his day doing no matter what day of the week it was. When it came to him taking over the city there was a lot of work that he had to keep his focus on which caused him to naturally push things away without him even realizing what he was doing. Gunner did not blame him for that at all but at the same time he did not enjoy it either.

"Good morning." Gunner yawned as he stretched out his limbs. The night had been a long one and neither of them had gotten much rest which left him surprised that Prince Clyde even had the energy to work. Most people would have been too tired to even crawl out of bed if they had been in Prince Clyde's position last night. Though the man was far from a normal person since he was a demon.

It must be his bloodline that gives him so much stamina.. Gunner thought to himself with a slight chuckle. It was the little things about Prince Clyde that he found so cute he could not help but tease the man at every chance he gained.

"You're up early. Are you going out again today?" Prince Clyde asked as he sat down the papers he was holding to look at Gunner sitting up on the bed. From the way he saw Gunner already waking up he could tell the man was up to something and probably planning to leave the mansion again.

"I'm not the only thing that's up~" Gunner smiled teasingly at the prince as he pointed in a direction that caused the prince to glance down at the blankets where Gunner's lower region was causing him to flush red at the mere thought of what they had done last night and that Gunner would suggest something like that again so soon.

"Rubbish." He scoffed slightly as he tried to play it cool. Shifting his eyes away from Gunner he tried to hide the fact that he felt embarrassed to hear the comment.

Sounds of footsteps could be heard in the room as Gunner climbed himself off the bed and made his way towards the prince. The only thing he was wearing at the moment were his pants that he had slipped into to sleep last night before bed. Prince Clyde, however, was already fully dressed in his usual princely clothing. Placing a hand on the prince's shoulder he smiled down at him where he sat.

"I can't help it when you make such an expression it makes me excited." Gunner teased as he leaned down towards Prince Clyde and planted his forehead against Clyde's to gaze straight into his eyes. It was easy to see that the prince was nervous from his actions and it caused him to shiver slightly where he sat. The black iron crown on his head nearly getting knocked from his head.

"I have work to do I can't play around with you." Prince Clyde blushed slightly as he tried to clear his throat and readjust the crown that Gunner had knocked backward on him. He was certain the man was just toying with his emotions because he found it enjoyable.

"I know. I have somewhere to be so I'll head off for today and come back later tonight so you can enjoy your work in peace without me getting in your way." Gunner muttered out as he headed for the door to leave the room. If he planned on heading out tonight to meet up with Apollo he would have to leave early to make sure that Prince Clyde did not know for certain that he was leaving for the sake of tonight. He only ever left during the daylight hours because the city was harder to maneuver at night. Prince Clyde knew that Gunner refused to go out during the nights except on rare occasions so if he left after sun down without giving a reason it would only raise more question. By leaving during the day he could simply tell him he got caught up in something making his way back home.

"Be careful out there." Prince Clyde said as he watched the man leave. Once Gunner was gone he glanced over at the empty bed and let out a soft sigh. He knew that something was being kept from him and he was not sure what it was. The very thought that Apollo might be involved made his skin crawl as he worried over it.

Tap. Tap. Tap.

Clyde's index finger beat against the desk amidst the silence of the room. Debating on sending someone to watch over Gunner today he stopped himself from doing so. If he was to send someone to supervise Gunner's actions he feared he might cause more trouble then he wanted. As he sat there lost in thought he could only wait patiently for the man to return home to his mansion. Gunner had always been alright when it came to wandering the streets of the city so he hoped the man would be able to handle Apollo as well. Though when it came down to Apollo, if something was to happen to Gunner to bring harm to him he felt as though he would become a tyrant himself. He was not willing to allow anything to fall upon the man.

"Even if you hate me for it I will never allow you to be taken from me." Prince Clyde whispered under his breath as he sat there alone in his room. Imagining the very thought of something bad happening to Gunner gave him to urge to lock the man in his room and never allow him to leave but he did not want to destroy the very part of Gunner that made him who he was because it would destroy the very fabric of the man.
