Sheloah can't help but feel bad for Veon. Right now, his life seemed to be full of depressing memories such as him killing his parents and now one of his important friends.
She thought what if she were in Veon's situation? Would she have the courage to do the same?
They both returned to their classmates and they continued killing the zombies along their way. As time went on, they all felt raindrops on their skin as they attacked. Soon, the rain started pouring strong.
They were not just drenched in sweat, but they were drenched in the rain as well. They continued running onward towards the playground. Once they reach the playground, they would all rush in their bus for comfort and safety. They can't wait to leave the school as one big group and family.
After a few moments, they have reached the playground. Veon, Josh, Tyler, Sheloah's uncle, Sir Jim, and Sir Erick led the class and the parents as they killed the zombies.
"Go to your respective buses! We have told you the plan earlier. We're going to handle this place! Go!" Sheloah's uncle shouted as they fought the zombies while the students and the parents ran towards the buses.
The seven of them were fighting the zombies under the strong rain. Despite their fatigue and discomfort, they did not stop until all of the students and all of the parents went inside the buses.
When they noticed that most of the zombies were killed and none were going to their direction, the seven of them stopped to catch their breaths. All of them were already in the two buses except for the seven who stayed for attack.
Sheloah got surprised and got curious when she noticed that one by one, their classmates were coming out of the bus.
"Why are you guys coming out? Go back!" Josh shouted at them but they did not enter just yet.
"We're waiting for you, guys," one of their classmates said and they smiled at their classmates' concern, except for Sir Jim.
"Thanks. Let's go, guys," Veon said but their attention went to Sir Jim when he spoke suddenly.
"I won't come with you, guys," he said and the people who were walking towards the buses stopped and looked back to see Sir Jim.
Sheloah laughed slightly, not believing Sir Jim. To her, he seemed like he just told a joke.
"What are you saying? We can't just leave you," she said and Sir Jim just looked at everyone seriously, with hurt in his eyes.
"Sheloah's right! We have already been together for two days! A lot had happened already. We're practically family," Josh added and Tyler nodded, agreeing to what he said. Both of them smiled at Sir Jim.
Sir Jim held his face, looking desperate and sad at the same time. It was like he was about to break down and cry.
'Why?'
"You don't know what I did," he said and all of them grew curious.
"What are you saying," Sheloah asked, waiting for his answer.
"Why do you trust me?" Sir Jim asked, hurt evident in his voice. It was as if he told them that he didn't deserve their trust.
What did he mean?
"Sir Jim, you're one of us. Do you even need an answer to that question," Josh said and Sir Jim took a deep breath before he sighed.
"I did something wrong. I did something you won't like once you knew," he said and one by one, each and everyone gathered near Sir Jim, curious of what he wanted to say.
"What do you mean," Sheloah asked and Sir Jim's eyes started to water. There were already tears escaping from his eyes. They never saw their mathematics teacher like this before.
As they waited, the rain continued to strongly pour every second. They didn't care if they were already drenched in water. They were still waiting patiently for their teacher to speak and join them in the bus.
Sir Jim said something loud and clear as he cried. Everyone was surprised when they heard it and some were even crying when they heard the news. Sir Jim suddenly fell on the floor, crying his eyes out as the rain poured stronger than earlier.
Sheloah's hands were shaking. She did not expect Sir Jim to have done something so wrong. It was out of his character and it was very unexpected. They didn't expect him to have done such an act. They needed answers as to why he did it.
They just stood there under the rain as the words he said just kept echoing inside their mind.
"I killed Sir Cesar."
