Chereads / The Fallen Consort / Chapter 12 - Dreams

Chapter 12 - Dreams

Yi Ling was standing in a dark space. She couldn't see anything at all. She didn't know where she was.

"BEAR! I swear to God! If you're playing a trick on me again, I will kick your butt so hard!!" she yelled.

She didn't notice that she had fainted earlier. She just found herself in this dark place instantly. No sound could be heard except her breathing and her fast-paced heart. Where am I? she thought.

Just then, she floated in space. She saw her body becoming translucent, and her clothes changed into a beautiful white dress. It scared her senseless! Is this a dream!? she thought.

The surrounding dark place changed. She was now floating above a wonderful palace. It was entirely pearly white and gold. She saw a bunch of white-gold robed people, but no one seemed to notice her floating in the air. She couldn't control herself at all, and she was scared that she might fall. Her body kept floating until she reached the palace hall. In contrast to the heavenly feel outside, inside the palace hall was dim. There was a throne up ahead. A beautiful man, dressed in black and gold robes, sat on the throne. He had the aura of a ruler. He also had the most beautiful, long black hair she had ever seen. His eyes were closed, and his face was leaning on his hand as it rested on the armrest. His face was very handsome, fit for a god! she exclaimed inside her mind. It was like a perfect picture.

Time went very slow. She wished she could stop time. She liked staring at this stranger. As time went by, tears were forming in the corner of her eyes. She didn't notice it; she was captivated by the man sitting on the throne.

As the tear fell on the floor, the ring shimmered.

Plink

The man's brows furrowed. He heard a droplet sound. His beautiful eyes opened.

Yi Ling gasped! The handsome man's eyes were purple. They were so beautiful! She felt like her heart skipped a beat. She raised her hand, trying to touch the man's beautiful face.

The man instantly stood up, looking everywhere but not seeing anything. He definitely felt it! She pulled her hand back quickly. She didn't know why, but she felt like the dream was too real. He then sensed a familiar aura.

"It can't be," he whispered. His heart was beating fast. His hand tried to reach where the aura was coming from but felt nothing.

Yi Ling was shocked. The man touched her hand, like he knew she was there. Little did she know that the Sapphire Jade Ring was emitting an aura.

"It's been too long... I can't remember your face anymore." He sighed. "I must be imagining; she will never be back." There was pain evident on his face. He sat back down on the throne and closed his eyes.

Yi Ling didn't know what to make of it. Who is the woman that he was talking about? She felt pain inside her heart. She envied the woman that the man was yearning for.

As she was wondering what to do next, her surroundings changed again.

Now, she was looking at a young man. He was dressed like a young scholar. He was sitting up in a tree with a long leaf in his mouth. As soon as she saw him, he felt that he was being stared at. He instantly opened his eyes and sat up. In contrast to the beautiful man earlier, he actually saw her. She was still floating in the air and had a translucent body.

"Mother!?" he exclaimed. His eyes were wide. It was definitely her, he thought.

Yi Ling gasped.

"Do I look that old to you!?" she yelled back. She was furious. She couldn't believe someone had the audacity to call her mother! She was 15! For goodness' sake. She had just entered the marriageable age. She wasn't even in love yet! How can she be called a mother?! She couldn't accept it at all!

Her emotions were going haywire. From happy to crying to being angry. This dream is getting me hyped up!

The young man was shocked. He heard her. He slapped his face so hard he felt the pain. "Ahh!!" He wasn't dreaming, he thought. It was real indeed. His mother's ghost was here!

He stared at her mother for a long time. Yi Ling glared back. This dream ought to stop, she thought.
