Baekhyun stood there shocked for a moment as he came face to face with the boy who had inspired him to create songs. Not just sing. But to create.
And he tried to hide it.
So many times in his life he had pictured this moment happening... But now?! Now he wasn't ready!
He had just yelled at him.
He had just snapped, lost his temper as his rehearsal was interrupted for the twelfth time. After almost no sleep and traveling for three days straight between three countries. And he had lost it!
'Ahhh... How could he have lost face in front of him!'
He felt so embarrassed. He wanted to apologize. Explain that he wasn't normally like this... But then his assistant had come. And the man's face had softened. Then she introduced him and for the first time, he learned his name.
His heart thumped hard in his chest and he had this wonderful sensation ooze all over his body. A tingling that went from his hair to his toes.
Chanyeol... His name was Chanyeol.
But then Chanyeol turned and smiled at Daehyun.
The girl stared back and brightened with his charm.
He really couldn't blame her. Chanyeol was dashing... He had grown up so freaking handsome.
People had said many times all his life that Bakehyun had grown up to be beautiful. He had been hearing it since he was a child.
But this big oaf had probably never heard it from anyone outside his family. Because he wasn't a conventional standard of beauty. He was unique. His ears were large and his body though rather tall was lean, like a weed. Making anything close to him look small in comparison. He had a strong jaw and a simple babyface, with large cheeks, bright eyes and an unmanageable mat of hair. And yet despite all that he drew every person's eyes with his sheer magnetism.
He had that magic.
That presence that once people encountered it they craved it like a drug. And seeing how friendly Daehyun and Chanyeol's interactions were when they had just met. Set him off.
It was utterly childish. But he had been searching for years. For the boy, he had met that day. He had seemed so sad. So utterly broken. And he thought he would never be able to live a day without remembering those eyes connecting with his. There had been a kindred link between them.
And now that man. Chanyeol was turning those mesmerizing, captivating eyes on someone else.
His jealousy, Childish... stupid. And unnecessary, yes. But he still felt it. He had been looking for him for five years, of course, he would. He had built up notions, scenarios. Fantasies that revolved around this moment since he signed the contract to be a star. How could he not be disappointed the attention wasn't on him. He had been a part of his dream.
'Who said they could get along! Who said he could look at you like that instead of me..... It was supposed to be our moment....'
'I just wanted to have him smile at me like before.' He thought.
'I just wanted to make him happy again, to make him smile again like that day...'
'It's ruined.'
He lifted his finger, anger turned outward at the nearest target. Daehyun.
Poor innocent Daehyun. Why was she holding his eye even now?
Baekhyun watched from the corner of his eye as he yelled at her. Watched Chanyeol. But Chanyeol was barely even registering him at all. He was to busy watching Daehyun.
And then suddenly in between his anger and Daehyun's useless stupid blabbering. Chanyeol was in front of him behind Daehyun and Catching her in a tight embrace.
He watched on utterly shocked forgetting how to breathe. All that ran through his head was 'Our moments ruined... years of searching for you and it's all ruined...' He wanted to cry. He knew he must be turning a brighter shade of red as he stood there since their faces grew alarmed. And he finally let out a deep breath.
The breath burst out of him only making them both step back and Chanyeol shield her into his arms tighter. Assuming his frustration was specifically from this incident. But he couldn't explain he was wrong. That it was all a misunderstanding.
Chanyeol let go of Daehyun awkwardly and the two of them blushed and then giggled their nerves getting the better of them. Baekhyun didn't miss a thing.
'Ahhh, it hurts... The face he is showing me right now hurts...'
And then his brain malfunctioned because he heard himself say the most mortifying words in his life. But it was from far off as if someone had stolen his body and voice and were wearing it completely in control of him.
"You are banned from ever setting foot in any venue of mine ever again!" He heard himself say.
And he almost fainted. He walked away shocked at what he had just done, at how badly he had lost control. He wanted to blame it on the lack of sleep, the twenty-plus hours of flying, the trains, the constant work and stress that caused his brain to fatigue. And he knew in no small part it was that as well. But he wasn't sure if he would ever get that instant look of hurt and shock he had caused on Chanyeol's face.
'I must be losing my marbles. I need to rest! I am not thinking rationally at all... One little outburst and you ban the guy you have been searching for your whole life! Baekhyunah pull yourself together! Oeehh, please pull yourself together.'
Luckily Daehyun stepped up and attempted to talk sense into him. His brain seemed to snap back into reality and he argued with her for a hairs length of time before pretending to change his mind and "agreeing" to let Chanyeol stay.
Daehyun left the stage and he turned back around to get ready to continue rehearsal. Praying that he could just get through this night. That he could just make it to his mid-show nap and then maybe by the time it was over he could have met with Chanyeol. Properly this time.
Because he wanted to tell him. Tell him how much he searched for him... How he had a gift for him. It had only been one day in each of their lives. But it had been the most important day of his life. A day he would remember forever. For it held so much love, hope, and pain for him.
A memory he didn't want to let go of. A memory he almost needed to latch onto to survive.
He just had to hope he hadn't lost his chance with Chanyeol yet. He had to make it work. To pull themselves together. Create an opportunity.
Because he hadn't planned his life for past this moment without him.
