Chapter 3 - Ch3: The old Steward

She inspects the holographic window in front of her, then waves her right hand across the window but her hand just passes through it. She uttered the word "close" and the window disappears like specks of dust. She shifted her gaze towards the yin-yang pendant and her memories begin to rekindle her inner flame just like when she was a child.

An 8-year-old child was wearing a below the knee floral dress. She was sitting on the lap of someone she knew from her past. Alexandria remembers that she always sits on her lap, listening to her stories all the time. But there was a particular story that she really likes...

The girl smile at the same time she encourages her grandma to tell her stories. The old lady sat on the rocking chair and look at her grandchild. Alexandria who was looking at the old lady noticed that the old lady's eyes show sadness and regret. The old lady forces herself to smile for the sake of her grandchild. The old lean backward with a faint smile and said, " There was one time during my adolescent years, that time I was lost and that man help me, he was….one of a kind….a race that doesn't exist in our world." The girl eyes widened and said, " Did you meet him again?" The old woman pats her grandchild's head and sigh. The old lady handed the girl a yin-yang pendant and said, "I hope that one day he will forgive me."

Alexandria widened her eyes and thought, so it was her grandmother who handed me this necklace!? Why did I forgot about it? The scene in front of her became blurry then just like smoke it vanished. Alexandria whispered, "Grandma…." She looks around and realized that she still in her room.

Ding-Ding! Ding! A sound that she already heard before. She said "open" and the holographic window appeared. There is a text, "please read it." Alexandria nodded and the letter was unfolded. The message states, "I already clean the entire kitchen and dining hall. Kindly step out from your room and let me clean it. It will take a couple of minutes.

Alexandria nodded and step out of her room. To her surprise, the dining hall is very clean. The mosses earlier which were growing on the floor and wall were already gone. Aside from cleanliness, she also noticed four 1 sqm2 table with four chairs in each table. She walks towards the kitchen and saw a masonry oven. The oven is made up of clay-like material. The color is dark brown. The shape is like a dome and the opening is around 70cm in radius. Near the wall, there are clay pots and 3 big brown water jars. Alexandria heard again the bell sounds but instead with of reading the messages, an older female voice can be heard. "Good morning Alexandria, I am the steward within the artifact. I am sorry if I did not use my voice earlier, it is just…..I don't know what voice type you want to her so it took me a few minutes to look unto your memories." Alexandria nodded and said, "Your voice reminds me of someone…. Anyway, I would like to ask where am I? or Am I still on earth?" The steward paused for about 2 minutes then speak, "Based on your memories about your description of the earth, I am sorry to tell you that only 15% matched. Unless your description is wrong then mine also is wrong."

After hearing the stewards explanation, Alexandria became panicky. She paced around the house for about 10 minutes before she stops. She took a deep breath and asked, " Then can you tell me where we are." The steward responded, " I am sorry, but I don't where we are, you see…..I am a newly born artifact. Basically, I was born because of you, my memories are as good as yours but I have some other abilities that can help you." Alexandria pondered, " So there are other artifacts other than you?" The steward responded, " In this world, there is." Alexandria sigh, " Can you tell me….what will I do next? I am confused right now." The steward responded, "The best thing that you should is to rank me up. The higher my rank the more benefit you will receive."

Alexandria sat on one of the chairs and twitch her lips, " What kind of artifact are….you?" The steward responded, " I am an auxiliary type but it does not mean I can't harm people…..If you want to level up and me to rank up, you need to accumulate sphere deeds." "Sphere deeds" she unconsciously asked. "sphere deeds are just everywhere, I don't know how will you get it but if you meet the citizen in this world maybe you can ask them."

Alexandria was worried because she doesn't have money. How will she maintain this property? What if someone will ask for tax? How will she pay them? The bell rang again, "Master, why don't you use this house for business? I already gave you four tables, all you have to do is serve food for the costumers." Alexandria frowned, when she was a kid her dream was to become a chef but due to her parents insistent because of family honor, she became a Doctor. In her family, being a chef is inferior to any Doctor, Lawyers or Architect. She pondered a bit and faintly smile, maybe that is the reason why her artifact is a Hostel?

The bell ring again then the steward spoke, " Master, I can give your free ingredients for the next 30 days. After 30 days, you can procure your own food. These ingredients are used only to that one dish that you always ate every time you visit your grandmother." Alexandria smile then nodded. "Master let me show where you get your ingredients, please proceed to your room."

Alexandria frown and question herself why would the ingredients be in her room? But she still follows the steward's request anyway. When she enters her room, the room was already clean. Her bed's dimension is 90cmx190cm. The headboard, Footboard, cut slats and the railings are made up of green bamboos. The off white bed mattress is filled with hays. Below the bed, on its right side is a brown wooden door. It is different from the other door within the house because usually it's a panel type but the one in front of her is a bypass type.

Alexandria opens the door by sliding on her right side, she gasped when she saw the scenery and clear her throat, "Where am I again?"
