Chapter 13 - Chapter 11

Within the sewers the blob had already tripled in size, nearly quadrupled in fact.

Temporarily the blob had stopped killing people. The biomass from the crates in the bio-warehouse had given it plenty to digest for the time being. As such, it had no need to kill people at the moment. It did however keep its tentacles roaming through the sewers as it searched for the other power relays. This city was somewhat larger than the last and had six of them. Presently it was siphoning from three of them. With the size of the city, the relays were a fair distance apart from each other.

The blob did not care much for the size of the city it was in. What concerned and confused it though, was that one of these relays was underground.

The city extended up to the skies as well as into the ground beneath it. The sewers it was currently in was essentially, the middle ground between the two. Waste was either piped up or piped down, which did explain why the sewers were larger.

Eventually it set the matter aside and began to focus on the task at hand. On the side of the blob, there was something resembling a cocoon. In contrast to its purple and red flesh, the cocoon was grey and white. As time went by it swelled. Eventually it was torn open from the inside. A creature about a meter tall stepped out. It had long arms and sharp claws. There was a bulging sac filled with a light grey liquid right where its rump would be.

After fumbling around trying to balance itself for a few minutes it finally turned around to face the blob. It reached down and grabbed its sac before moving its clawed hand towards the cocoon with a trail of highly viscous grey liquid which it began to rub all over the cocoon. When its clawed hand left the cocoon, an unblemished surface was revealed. The creature stood off to the side afterwards. Within the coming days several more cocoons and a second creature like the first tore its way out of a cocoon. Afterwards both used their sharp claws to tear open the other cocoons and lifted out a creature from each. Each creature was a meter long, 30 cm. wide, about 20 cm. tall, with a pair of powerful and flexible mandibles on its face, six spindly legs and a scorpion like tail. The days came and went as more and more were torn out of the cocoons and the creatures had begun to widen the area of the sewer the blob was in.
