Chapter 1 - Itā€™s only Monday

Sometimes when I wake up and just stare into endless space. I think about the dream I just had, was it really a dream? It felt so real. When I ran in the dream, I woke up with sore legs. When I swam down the stream, I woke up drenched in sweat. When I saw the sun, I remember it's warm embrace. Takes me a few minutes to physically get up and when I finally do, I know it was all a dream. My room has four walls, one with a door to the hallway and on the opposite side to my personal bathroom. I'm lucky, I'm one of the few people who gets their own personal bathroom around here. It's my "condition," is how I am defined. I'm practically pampered, my life is boring but full of comfort. Right now two security dudes are stationed in the hallway, making sure I'm safe in my room. Today I think I'll make my room yellow, like the sun. I grab the remote and change the settings. The room is now a lovely shade of yellow and boy do I feel the warmth. Hoped out of bed, put on my boring white slides and run to the bathroom, that is also boring white. I change the settings so that it's like a kaleidoscope of a light pink shade. The ever changing shape and colors make me feel happy, but it's only Monday. The start of the week. Took a quick shower, used the loo, and brushed my teeth, not in that order mind you. Pinned my hair back, I keep it a short A line bob with the sides shaved. It makes things easier. Finally, the outfit, the piece de resistance. My boring white shorts, tight as usual, and boring white shirt (with that stupid cut on the back). I can't change the color here so I put on my rose colored glasses so I look like I'm wearing pink. Grabbed my boring white shoes to get out to the boring white hallways.

Did I mention I hate white? It's so boring, like Monday. If Monday had a color it would be white. Friday is a great day, that's like a deep red. Like it's about to burst and when it does, it's a kaleidoscope of colors for the weekend. That's one of my "conditions," I can see color when the world can't. Majority of everything in here is white. When you get down to where everyone else lives, it's like someone threw up a rainbow and ran it over with a lawnmower. People pretend they see color so they "paint" things in different shades. I've only been outside a handful of times, I'm not allowed outside. I'm not really allowed to do much. Just sleep, go to the lab, workout, go to the loo, make things happen, and maybe eat. They restrict my diet, I workout a lot and on the weekends I get to fly a drone and interact with the outside world. Mainly pranks.

"Let's Go," one of the guard barks as I lock my room.

"Don't be so loud," the other guard whispers, "this hallways echos so it making your voice even louder." Lets call him the nice one, the other one is Mister Grumpy.

"Don't be sensitive," Mister Grumpy barks back as he gently takes my hand, "the other guards don't mind, it's deathly quite here. The machines don't even make any sound these days."

Mister Nice Guy takes my other hand and looks down on me. "Good morning, did you sleep well? Are you ready for today? Your limping a bit, are you hurt?! WHO DID THIS TO YOU?!."

I'm short around 5'1" and because of diet and exercise, I look young, I'm 33. I'm a fossile, these guards are in their early 20s and are like a bazillion feet tall. Roughly 6 something, I don't know heights well since I'm always elevated.

"Stop being sensitive," I smiled back, "I'm trying out my pimp walk."

Mister Grumpy rolled his eyes but Mister Nice Guy's eyes where shining. "What's that?" He said with an eager voice, "let me try!" He looked like a robot trying to tip to one side, more like a tipping gigantic mass trying to pick up a penny. "Like this?" He asked with puppy dog eyes.

I looked at Mister Grumpy, he wanted to say something mean but looked at me and looked away.

With the biggest smile on my face I told him he was a natural. We walked to the lab like that and even Mister Grumpy tried. Once we go into the lab, it was like a reset button. No one had personalities in the lab. Mainly, the guards go back to being their stoic self. They led me to my "cage" it's like a glass square with one side opened. That's where it closes the "cage" with grid like lasers shooting down and closing it off. It's for my safety apparently.

"Good luck miss," Mister Nice Guy whispers as he leads me in. Mister Grumpy didn't say anything but he gave me that look. The "I'm a big burly dude who has no feelings, I hunt and kill, and I lift heavy things but I like teddy bears and I sleep with my favorite blanket" look. They have both been great companions on my 10 minute walk to my prison cell. Every year I get new guards, these two have been the best so far.

"Good Morning," a disgusting gross Voice called out from the top balcony, "Welcome to Monday."
