Lajatto wipes the tear off my face. "Good Morning Sunshine!" He smiled. His smile was familiar. He smelled like Storm, I had to plug my nose. "What?!" He yelled as he smelled himself, "I took a shower I swear."
"Just let me out," I said in almost a whisper.
"That was a hard one," Lajatto said as he unbuckled me, "that was two whole hours, your brain wouldn't stop moving. You has two bloody noses and your heart rate was extremely high!" I looked at Lajatto with puppy dog eyes. "What?"
"Lajatto, you care," I said in a whiny voice. Lajatto smiled and corrected his caller, I got a glimpse of a scar on his throat.
"Sven?" I asked surprised.
"Who?" Lajatto looked confused.
"Nothing, it's hot here," I said as I took off my robe, "hey Lajatto?"
"How can I help you sunshine?" he said as he put all the cords away.
"Where did you grow up? How did you get here? Do you have a brother? Where is your family?" I asked sheepishly.
"Normally a lovely lady like yourself would ask, what's a sexy thing like yourself doing in a dump like this," he replied while winking and giving me two thumbs up. He saw that my expression didn't change. "Why interested all of a sudden," he said as he cleared his throat. We've been together 5 years and you're just asking?" We exchanges stares, I wasn't going to answer. He sighed and continued, "On a farm with my younger brother and grandparents, we lived off the farm and worked with some scientists. My brother and I had potential, the scientists took us in when my grandparents died. My brother works in another city and I'm here with you beautiful. " I looked at him surprised. "What's your brothers name," I asked quickly, almost sounded like I was yelling.
"Storm," he replied calmly.
My brain froze, did I just dream his life? The names are different but it was his life. Was it because he touched the donut that I had a glimpse into his life?
"Earth to Karen," Lajatto said as he poked my cheek, "it's weird saying my name, but Lajatto sticks. What are you thinking? What happened in that dream? I wish I could see what you did." I looked at Lajatto surprised. You did see what I did, I thought. It was your life. I looked deeper into his eyes, they where both the same color and he was blond. I shook the cobwebs out of my head and breathed in deep.
"Lunch?" I mustered up to ask without looking him in the eye.
"Your treat?" He smiled, " you are older."
I jabbed him on the right thigh and motioned him to follow me.
We walked though the halls to the cafeteria it smelled amazing, loud as usual, and white everywhere. Lajatto was talking about how he grew up and everything matched the dream. Who is Sven I thought? Was he Storm? Is Sven the creepy scary scientist? Is Storm in the real world the scary looking dude and the Sven here a hottie?!
"Karen!" A cute voice yelled from across the room. We both look over and see a spunky young lady with blond pigtails running over. Her golden blond hair completed her flawless pale skin and piercing blue eyes. The way she moved her body was like a memorizing metronome. Each step was precise. We watched her like a pair of mesmerized pray about to be devoured by a cobra. She hugged me tight when she finally got a hold of me. Like a cobra squeezing their pray, it felt like I couldn't breath. Which was true because she also had a huge chest.
"Sasha," Lajatto yelled, "your killing her." Sasha looked down and saw my face, she let go quickly and gave a cute giggle.
"Sorry Karen," she blushed.
"Karen?!" I yelled.
"Dr Lajatto said you didn't want to be named number 14 anymore," she replied. I looked over at Lajatto, he had the biggest smile.
"I work fast honey," he said as he rubbed his nose, "I told the world. Let's eat!"
I didn't want to be called a number anymore but I didn't want to be Karen. We grabbed our meal and we sat at a table. The warm conversation and the company of these two brought me back to my dream. The family I had or Lajatto had, I miss them. I don't miss the farm work but I do miss the grass. Early in the morning you could feel the dew on the blades of the grass. Like a cold wet kiss from them as you walk by. Watching the sun come up, while drinking a warm cup of coffee. The mixture of cold pecks from the grass brushing up on the legs and the warm steam coming from the coffee caressing my cheeks, it was peaceful. No people, no loud noises, the color changing sky. The mooing of the cows and that loud rooster, it brought a smile to my face. I wanted to run through the corn fields and chase the piglets. I wanted to go back. Everything was fading, I couldn't hear anyone in the cafeteria anymore. I looked over at Sasha and Lajatto and I could see them moving their mouth but I couldn't hear them. A shadow from the corner of my eye got my attention. I looked over and see Sven. He was standing at the entrance talking to another doctor. His golden brown and blue eyes looked at the doctors he was talking to with full concentration. Black hair just as long as before. I couldn't stop staring. He must've felt me looking because he looked my way. We stared at each other for what seemed like a whole minute.
"Karen," I heard Lajatto say as he tapped my shoulder. I looked over at them but looked back at Sven, he was gone. I turned back around and saw them both looking at me confused.
"Sorry," I blushed, "I thought I saw someone I knew."
Lajatto looked confused but shrugged and continued, "Sasha's brothers name is Sven."
