Chereads / RAINS / Chapter 21 - CHAPTER nineteen

Chapter 21 - CHAPTER nineteen

"Business colleagues?" she asks in a mocking tone. "The singer's name is Zeal", she says showing a picture of the album titled, 'US: My Universe'. Hei peeks at her phone cover. It was white with the words 'cute but psycho' printed on it.

"Send the link to him. I will send it." Reo says ignoring.

"You didn't tell me your name, how am I supposed to deliver this?" Hei asks in realization.

The girl smiles and says, "It's Kim Seri." She continues, "I am sorry if you don't like my honesty, but to be fair, your lie was quite daft. His name is Hanzo Ken, isn't it? The batch on his uniform. Light travels faster than sound that is why some people appear bright until they speak."

"Hey, you wanna go to the hospital, you're sweating like you just dodged a bullet, well you did, but still?", Hei asks.

"She can't shut her mouth, how will all this hot air escape?" Reo says.

"I am sorry if I offended you with my common sense." She says smirking with confidence.

Suddenly a phone starts vibrating.

Reo picks up the call, "Pick me from Yongsan-gu street. Are you sure he knows about it? No, you can't. Be there in 4 minutes", he says.

"So we aren't going there right?", Hei says guessing after the phone call ends.

"Yes." Reo says.

Suddenly there are two different notification sounds at the same time.

One was at Seri's phone, another at Reo. The notification was from Saltus International School.

"Camping?", Seri exclaims.

Reo looks at her, she knew about the notification. There were only two possibilities, either she is stalking him and pretending to be smart or-

"We are in the same school." Seri says as Reo looks at her suspiciously. The taxi stops in front of a house. Seri gets out closing the door behind her.

"Can we stay at you house till his driver arrives?" Hei asks politely. Reo looks at him like he's going to kill him for this mistake.

"Nah, You guys are trouble." she says.

"Really?" Reo says arrogantly.

"It will not take much time. It's not safe for us like this." Hei says.

"I'll be killed if you are with me." She says.

"You're in the same school. Do a favor to your classmate." Hei says, trying hard to convince her. Hei gets out of the car.

"Hey, aren't you getting out?" Hei asks Reo.

He was running from bullets minutes ago, and now he is busy running after a girl, Reo thinks. He gets out of the car. He pays and they move to her house.

"At least you've negotiating skills." Seri says as they enter the house, switching the lights on.

"You have a beautiful house." Hei says.

"You can sit." She says going to the kitchen to get something to drink for her and them. Reo and Hei sit on the seats behind the kitchen counter. Hei spots a miniature sculpture on the counter. The sculpture was of an angel, clutching to a grave which seemed like it was grieving over something.

"Strange... aren't white angels supposed to be helping. I haven't seen their nature as grievous." Hei started wondering loudly.

"It's called the Angel of Grief. It is the miniature version of the 1894 sculpture, sculpted by William Wetmore Story for the grave of his wife Emelyn Story at the Protestant Cemetery in Rome. It is also known as The Angel of Grief Weeping Over the Dismantled Altar of Life. It represents the pain of those left behind. It often predicts losing someone very important. Not that I believe this but you asked." Reo answers.

Hei looked like he had just heard a uni lecture on quantum physics. In hope for a simpler explanation he looks at Seri.

"I didn't think this much before bringing it. I just bought it because I read that Weeping Angel has the capability of sending others back in time by touching them." She says to Hei.

"You both talk like one of you is Google assistant and other is Lemon (Lime's robot assistant).", Hei says.

"My brain's too small to process this. But I've been thinking about this for quite a few minutes. Let's use this as our work place." Hei says to Reo as he sees Seri disappear behind the refrigerator..

"I am too rich for this." Reo replies back.

"But why? This seems like a safe place to run our investigation. And-"

"Ask why not? Because I'm not in any way letting you guys stay into my house for too long. I have my boundaries too. I can't be running all the time." Seri says with a serious stare.

Hei just "ah"-ed and Reo looked at both of them with annoyance visible on his face. Seri walks towards them with the glasses of juice and puts it on the kitchen counter. Reo's phone vibrates again. This time Reo ignores the vibration, he stares at the juice and says, "Hei, the driver's here. We need to go. And thanks for letting us rest in your house."

She follows them till the door.

YP Entertainment, Seoul

Slowly, he walked towards his studio facing the big machines and instruments plugged in. He drifts towards the chair. He faces the blue screen, which shines upon his eyes. He types in the password resulting to the screen showing the producing software showing Seri's face made with recorded tunes. He missed her. Badly. Very Badly.

The blue light reflects the water in his eyes making it shine. He covers his mouth and buries his face in his hands.

Life is a book. You can't skip chapters, that's how it works. You have to read every line, meet every character. You can't decide which character you want to be with. You wont enjoy all of it. Some chapters will be heart-rending. You will read things you don't want to read, you will have moments when you will want to stay on a page forever. But you have to keep going.

There's a knock on the glass door. The door was open. Sua was at the door. The computer screen was emitting light in the dark room.

"Is he even there? Should I go and check? Maybe he is in the washroom. But I have to give him this page." She thinks. She waits but then enters to see him sleeping behind the computer scene. He must be extremely tired. He is so cute even while sleeping. She silently takes out her phone and clicks his picture.

'There are so many unspoken words on your skin- waiting to be read like braille. You make me curious, desperate to learn you whole.' She thinks. She slides the paper under a paper weight. On a sticky note she writes, 'Sorry to enter without your permission, but please read this paper. (sent by director)'. She pastes it on the computer screen.

He's good at art. I wonder who the girl is. She thinks. She clears his table a little and then moves out of the room silently.

On her way she calls his bodyguard, "Hello, Zeal fell asleep in his room. Could you take him back home or cover him with some sheets.." "I will take care of him. Thanks!" he says cutting the call abruptly.

"Was I wrong?" she thinks about her decision of calling his bodyguard. Her phone starts ringing.

"I am waiting for you outside the building. Please come." Her bodyguard says.

"I am coming in two minutes, I forgot something in the dance room." She says and hangs up the call. She was feeling guilty for what she had just done. She goes to check up on Zeal one last time.

He was still sleeping, his face behind the screen. She walks closer to him. Not noticing the wire on the sprawled on the floor, she trips on the wire. She loses her balance, and as she tries to grab the edge of the desk for support, the chair turns and she falls on him. She was on top of his strong, muscular body, their lips brushing. She felt frozen, both fear and excitement at once was too much for her too handle.

His smell was flooding her senses. His strong cologne mixed with her light, berrh scented cologne. She feels his warm breath, his soft lips. Her hands were around his neck. She feels her heart beat so hard, that she feared that if he woke up because of the throbbing sound, he'll hate her.Unexpectedly, his hand drifts to her waist, which knocks all the Expiratory Reserve Volume of her lungs. It settles there, pulling her closer. She inhaled sharply. She was against his warm chest, arched in perfection. Must he be so perfect? She splayed her hand against it, intending to push him away. She stands back, closes her eyes.

"Sorry, I am sorry. It wasn't intentional, it was a mistake." She says.

"Please don't leave me." He mutters in his sleep.

"You wouldn't have said that if you knew what I just did." She says.

Without making any noise, she quickly walks out of the room. She walks through the corridors engulfed in thoughts. She tries to breathe slowly to fill her empty lungs. Her heart was hitting her chest so hard that she thought that it will break her ribs and rip apart her skin. She recalls the feeling, and that warmth spreads again through her body. She could feel his touch, his voice.

She touches her lips, they were still warm from her first kiss. Was he awake? Will he hate me now? Did I take his first kiss? She was feeling so anxious about him, that the butterflies in her stomach had turned into bees.
