Chapter 578 - I Am Mane Harbinger: XXIV

As his strength escaped his now feeble body, Ancestor Origin was left to wallow in pain and disbelief. While it was true that with his abilities, this wasn't true death and finding a next host would be only a matter of time, it mattered little right now. For he had found the best host for his ambitions and selfish heart – the boy who had been snatched from his grasp just when he thought he was going to achieve what he sought – and had lost him. No matter whom his next host was, there was no way this person could compare to a Supreme. He had lost a great opportunity. And even worse was that he had lost it because of one weaker than him. In his depressed state he felt the power of space returning to him, and a scoff of disdain escaped his nostrils.

"It is only now that you return?" Ancestor Origin sighed as his hazy eyes gazed upon the remnants of the tattered sky. The pillar of light that symbolized his killer's boost in strength was dissipating and everything was returning to normal – everything but him. And he knew; it was time for him to leave.

"Hah…hah…hah…hah"

Crystal gulped in great amounts of air as she struggled to maintain her footing. Her eyes were just as hazy as the man she had put down and her body just as feeble – if not more so. Her legs shook wobbly, struggling to carry the weight they had unerringly upheld in their entire existence. Yet even in such a weakened state, she sought the one for whom she had sacrificed so much.

"Young Master" she mumbled and tried to get to Mane.

Crystal dragged her weary body towards her Lord. The great distance she had opened up during her fight with the Origin King to protect her Lord from any harm was now a major hindrance to her. And the modified landscape – much of which the man she had killed was responsible for – made this process a tedious endeavor. Yet she pushed on.

"Young Master"

She kept mumbling as she reached out to the Supreme. Her blurry eyes could already make out a faint image of his silhouette. He slept peacefully, seemingly unaware of the danger he was in only a few moments ago. Crystal was close, and she knew that she was. She just needed to try a little harder. Just a few more steps. A few more hundred steps and she would be there. She would get to see him again.

"Young Master, I have done my part. The others will do theirs. I hate that I cannot see you grow."

Crystal's expression was mixed. She was satisfied with her part in the 7thSupreme's story. And though it wasn't as glorious as the legends she shared with the ones that came before him, she had protected him when he was at his weakest. And none of her feats – no matter how mighty – were this weighty. She was an Eternal, and she had done her part.

However, though she had done her part – though she had protected her prince – she couldn't help but be saddened by the outcome of today's events. There was no doubt in her mind about the decision she had taken. Although she was going down to the grave, she was taking the Origin King with her! How glorious it was to give up the ghost in this manner. But it didn't change the fact that she wouldn't be able to see the progress of the 7th. The boy was the most talented Supreme she had seen, yet she wouldn't be able to see how his story will pan out. She wouldn't be able to see him roam the True Universe and set the worlds back in order. She would miss his image as he dominated the realms and contaminated the vats of gods and goddesses alike. She wouldn't get to see them tremble in fear and caution as they sought to escape his steely rod. She would miss all of that – because she would be dead.

From the moment she used Eternal Damnation she knew what would become of her. She knew, yet she still did it. And given a second chance, she would make the same decision still. Her life was her Lord's, as it was with every other Eternal. And that was her purpose.

The last embers of Crystal's life flickered unstably as her spirit threatened to leave her be. Yet she held on to it. She forcefully tethered her fractured soul to her body and kept moving on. She wanted to engrave the image of her Lord into her mind one last time. Just in case, she thought to herself. She would remember what her Lord looked like just in case there was an afterlife. That way she would never forget what she was. And if there wasn't, then maybe there would be a resurrection – another life lived as another person. And if that was to be her fate, she wouldn't want to forget this life either. But if neither was possible; if this was the end and there was no other way, then so be it.

She kept moving, each step taken a great expression of her indomitable will. And soon she was only a few steps away from her Lord. Her weary eyes lit up in joy once she realised how close she was to him. She wanted to lay at his side and leave peacefully. Even in death, she wanted to be next to him. Once she was close enough she whispered her thoughts to him who couldn't hear her.

"Dominate the realms – Supreme Emperor Mane Harbinger."

*Wuuu*

Suddenly a great wind arose from the east and caused the earth to tremble. Crystal's steady steps were interrupted and her weary frame fell to the ground. The fall was not a mighty one, but in her condition it knocked out most of her strength. Yet that meant little to her. She kept crawling towards her Lord but this time, there was a great anxiety in her eyes. For accompanying that wind was a great threat that forced the World of the Three Races to tremble in pain and misery. A great aura – as mighty as any other Crystal had felt before – descended upon this world. And to her horror, the owner of this aura swept the world with his eyes and quickly dashed towards her.

A few minutes before Crystal resorted to using Eternal Damnation, a black door appeared in the sky only a few miles away from Amalgamation. This black door was littered with many strange runes. And each rune was filled with the great power of a cunning Asgardian God. Suddenly the formerly quiet door trembled greatly and clicked open. And a man's figure was revealed behind it.

"I am finally here," a handsome man with a menacing aura lightly stretched his neck and stepped out of the dimensional door. A great divinity was expressed in his aura, revealing his identity as a god. Once he escaped the door, he was pulled down by the planet's gravitational laws. But he didn't seem perturbed.

*Boom*

He landed with a loud bang, but he was unharmed. What kind of god will he be if this was enough to hurt him? He patted the dust of his boots with an uninterested expression as he slowly observed the new world he was in. The person who had just arrived was Shiva. And it was his ominous energy that Crystal felt. The God of Destruction looked back into the darkness, staring at the land that had trapped him for a good few months of his life. As a god, that was little time, but he was infuriated by it nonetheless. For he had lost time he could have been using to search for the Supreme.

"Might as well get on with it," Shiva turned his head away from the dimensional door and run. Once he disappeared, the dimensional door closed. But that wasn't before it revealed a pair of bright pupils staring at the rapidly retreating figure of the God of Destruction.

"I must find a city first," Shiva mumbled as his feet crossed the desert faster than a man could drink some water. He didn't know what this world was. The dastardly Loki had tossed him here without any information – though it wasn't like he had asked for it in the first place. The God of Destruction may be bloodthirsty and greedy – among many other things – but he wasn't grossly idiotic. He needed information and the cities were his best bet.

*VROOM*

Suddenly a pillar of light tore through the sky and pulled in Shiva's attention. His eyes narrowed into crescents when he felt the power within that light. And though it wasn't great enough to threaten him, he was surprised to feel strength like this from a feeble world such as this one.

"Well, I might as well start from there," the God of Destruction mumbled before he changed his direction, speeding towards the place where the Supreme now lay – helpless and without a defender. It took Shiva a short amount of time to reach the battlefield – mainly because he was close by. But when he got there, he realised that the battle was over. He did however, find his first corpse in this world. And for the first time in a long while, he could proudly declare that he wasn't the one who killed the deceased.

"Sheesh, there is violence everywhere," the God of Destruction shook his head pretentiously as he gazed upon the dead body before him. The Origin God's former body was now an empty husk. Shiva disrespectfully stepped over the corpse and kept walking forward. Fights typically happened between two or more people. If there was a body here, then the victor shouldn't be too far off.

After walking for a while he found what he was looking for. And to his surprise, what he came to this world for was also here! And the God of Destruction couldn't hold back the cynical grin that stretched his lips.

"Found ya"
