Chapter 576 - I Am Mane Harbinger: XXII

While others rushed to Amalgamation for different reasons, the turmoil of the battlefield hadn't ceased.

"Are you crazy?!" Ancestor Origin screamed in fear as he was sent flying by a power typhoon so vast that the one who ruled over space and time questioned his own ability.

It was only after he had crossed the hundred meter threshold that he came to a stop. With eyes besot by wind and sand the Origin King struggled to keep his eyes open. With a small grimace he mumbled

"You are an Eternal"

Crystal's declaration of Eternal Damnation and the chant that led to it clearly stated her race. And realization of this caused the Origin King's frown to transform into a cheerful smirk. For though he had remained in the background all these years, he knew who Eternals were. And he knew that they were servants to no one. They made sacrifices for no one – not even for themselves. They only served one person

"The Supreme"

Ancestor Origin's eyes flashed with understanding and his greed towards retrieving Mane grew greatly like a billowing storm. Before he was interested in Mane for he was vastly talented. With a boy like that he could see himself returning to the peak of the True Universe once again. But if Mane was the Supreme, then that dream was a surety! And there was no way he would fail! As long as he killed Crystal no one will know that he was the Supreme's replacement. And he could take Mane's place easily. He couldn't help but think about the benefits that would come from using Mane's body as his own. For with that identity alone, he would have the Eternals behind him like obedient ducks.

"That is why she is trying so desperately hard to protect him," Ancestor Origin noted. But now wasn't time to give his mind to his thoughts. For the current circumstances required more fists than brain. And if he wanted to get Mane, he needed to clear the obstacle before him first. But would he?

"With Eternal Damnation I now declare: Chaos is my handmaiden and its power my footstool!" Crystal's clear voice was like the cry of a canary on a dull, cloudy day. But this was no canary. And her voice didn't bring joy to the one who was here to hear it.

*Boom*

Several loud booms resounded as the ground around the Origin King caved in, struggling to deal with the pressure that had been pushed onto it. The Origin King found to his dismay that his movements had gotten slower, and his reaction speed had reduced drastically. Under his astonished expression, the Eternal who had been avoiding any sort of physical confrontation with him pushed her dainty feet off the ground and flew like a speeding jet towards the former King of the True Universe.

For the first time since the fight began Crystal left her Lord where he lay and pursued the one who was pursuing him. Her fingers curled into claws as streams of Edict bent to her will and surrounded her nails. And with a great swipe her fingers clutched on to the chest of the Origin King.

Ancestor Origin was no longer bemused by what was happening. The danger before him had forced him to temporarily abandon all thoughts of taking Mane with him and think about how he could escape his current predicament. Not only were his reactions dull and unseasoned, Crystal was somehow too fast for him to react to! Under his astonished vision the nails of the desperate Eternal somehow pushed themselves past his skin and established themselves authoritatively in his chest.

*Poof*

Crystal's fingers had travelled a centimeter into his chest before his body was able to show some reaction. And like a frightened rabbit escaping a murderous predator the Origin King hastily retreated, clutching his wounded chest with a stolid expression on his face.

"I cannot use Space and even with Wind I am still slower," the Origin King mumbled and kept back peddling. He didn't know what Crystal had done to him. But since that light appeared his reaction speed and everything else was a notch lower than usual. Even his ability to summon the elements of wind and change were damaged. As for space, it was trapped in the palms of the Selfish Titan King.

Crystal's figure flashed and she reappeared right next to the Origin King. Her fingers straightened into spears as she pierced them towards the Origin King.

The expression of the Origin King was uglier than a pig intended to be slaughtered for breakfast. He had never been reduced to this state before – especially when he was facing an opponent he deemed inferior to himself. And even worse was that he was struggling to keep up with her.

"What kind of wielding is this?" The Origin King wondered as he narrowly escaped the pointy nails of the beautiful woman striving to see his blood stain the ground. Even though he avoided the strike, she was still able to scrape away much of his skin.

"Chaos Wielding" Crystal didn't have to answer, but she did. And her answer caused some fear to finally appear in the Origin King's eyes.

Even when he realised that he was the one at a disadvantage the Origin King felt no fear. He only felt the sense of loss for he knew that he may not be able to get Mane today. After all, it was wise to escape when facing a stronger opponent and that was what he was trying to do. But the words – Chaos Wielding – had pushed a fear so strong in him that he trembled when he stared into Crystal's eyes.

What was Chaos Wielding? Well, Chaos Wielding was the direct opposite of Edict Wielding. Edict Wielding was the art of bending the will of elements to yours. And that was the normal way of wielding. Of course with individuals who couldn't wield the elements, Edict Wielding would just be the art of being able to use Edict to overcome an opponent. This wasn't so with Chaos. Chaos was a power that was difficult to contain and couldn't be handled by the body. Even the physiques of seasoned body wielders would break when forced to store Chaos in their bodies. And that was why the special language called Lease was needed to drive the power of Chaos. And even then, there were still stringent requirements to using Chaos; namely a Soul Based Bloodline and a High IQ. But there were oddities – entities – that could resort to controlling Chaos without using Leases. They could bend the will of chaos to theirs and summon great power at a risk of losing themselves. These people were called Chaos Wielders.

The Origin King didn't know much about them because they were not perceived to be real. Chaos Wielding was a theory developed by explorers who envisioned that surely there would be a time when people would learn to control Chaos like they control Edict. But a Chaos Wielder had never been spotted before – until now.

Under normal circumstances, Ancestor Origin wouldn't have paid much attention to Crystal's words. He would have just considered what she said as a bluff. But the few things that were happening didn't allow him such comfort. Explorers theorized that since Chaos was more destructive that Edict and a higher energy, in its presence Edict would be forced to make some concessions (Chaos's direct rival is Order, not Edict. Since the Book of Order disappeared, Order was lost and Edict which was the brainchild of Order, took its place.) Dampened reflexes and delayed summoning of Edict were predicted signs of facing a Chaos Wielder. And he was experiencing them right now. Besides, that wasn't the scariest thing.

The scariest thing was that he was actually losing!
