The ground shook, and the wind howled as Abe moved with great ferocity towards Breaker. The mighty roar of the Wyvern carried great spiritual pressure, and Breaker who was faced with its assault was shaken for a brief period. For the Wyvern's scream bored directly into his mind and invaded his soul. For that brief moment, Breaker felt himself shackled, trapped and alone. A great anxiety gripped his soul, and his mind travelled to a time he didn't want to remember.
"You did all that for power, not for me" A beautiful woman in a white gown appeared before Breaker in his mindscape. Her eyes were filled with tears, and her nose reddened in sorrow. Her feet and hands were stained with blood. And there was a huge, gaping hole in her chest. When Breaker saw her his face was filled with terror and grief. And he instinctively moved back.
"Stay back! Don't come any closer!" he screamed. He constantly backtracked as he spoke. His eagerness to get away from this woman was clear.
"You did this to me. Yet you despise me. You made me this way, yet you avoid me. This was your doing! I was happy. You were happy. We were happy together! I was alive and you were alive. We were alive together! Now look at me! I'm just a figment of your imagination!" the bloodied woman was incensed. Her eyes grew wider as tears finally escaped those big orbs of hers. However, her tears were red, like the crimson of a bloodied heart.
"I didn't mean to," Breaker looked shaken by her words, and his body trembled with great regret. "I didn't know that was what was going to happen. If I could go back, I would have never done it!" Breaker kept shaking his head with pain written all over his face.
"The past? You want to return to the past?" the lady approached Breaker swiftly. Soon she was right before him. And when she was she lifted his head so he could look into her eyes.
"The past is always lost. It's only the future that remains. Your mistakes will haunt you for all eternity. For no one can return to the past. Instead forge a better future for yourself. Forge a future that honors me." The woman stated with a sad look on her face. Her tone had suddenly become much gentler when she spoke of Breaker's future. The blood that poured from her eyes didn't cease, yet Breaker wasn't disgusted by it.
"The Dark Lord promised me there was a way to do that – reverse time. All I have to do is help him accomplish his goals. Once he achieves what he wants, he will help me achieve what I am looking for as well. I can bring you back with his help." Breaker had a slightly crazed expression on his face when he spoke about his true goal. He grabbed the bloodied hands of the strange maiden and held them tightly in his. Although his hands were smaller, his grip was firm, and though she pulled, he would not let go.
"As long as I follow him, I will definitely find a way. There is no one more capable than the Dark Lord. That god will do anything to accomplish his goals. And he will certainly reward those who serve him."
Gritting his teeth, Breaker revealed exactly why he had decided to follow the Dark Lord. Many thought he had made such a decision because he offended a powerful family. But that wasn't so. The woman within his mindscape was his elder sister, and the only family he had since his earliest memories. They were orphans, and it was because of her dedication to him and her great love for him that Breaker was still alive. For the longest time she provided for him, cared for him, and watched over him like a mother would. She had sacrificed much so that he would have the very best, and he was more than aware of many of these sacrifices. His sister was a beautiful woman, and many desired her. And though she detested men, there were several times she had sold herself to wealthy men just to get something for herself and Breaker. Well, she mostly did so for Breaker. How many times had he eavesdropped to hear his sister weeping, heartbroken about what she had to go through just for him?
There was even a time that a group of men had broken into his house and forcefully slept with his sister in front of him. His efforts to protect her were futile, for they were vastly stronger than him. And he who knew nothing about wielding at the time could only watch in horror – with a battered and broken body – as they performed unspeakable acts with his sister in his presence. Her weeping and mournful cries that day broke his heart, and his mind was shattered. It was at that point that Breaker realised how important strength was. And his journey as a wielder began.
As a poor sod with nothing to his name, Breaker didn't have any money to buy any good manual. And he surely wasn't going to tell his sister. For they had barely enough to feed themselves twice a day, much less afford a Wielding Manual. Luckily, he had a good brain. So he became a scavenger. He went around scouring libraries and sneaking into the homes of wealthy men to read the manuals he could find. With his superior intellect he was able to create his own manual, and he entered the ranks of wielders. But once he did, he understood the large gulf himself and his sister's aggressors. Those bastards weren't satisfied with assaulting her for just a night. So they kept coming. And when Breaker, with his newfound strength tried to fight back, he was brutalized even more badly than the first time. And every night his eyes saw the same horrific scene he would rather not see. He felt helpless; he was broken. So he vowed to break them. Unlike what many knew Breaker didn't start experimenting on himself because he was a sadistic man. The sadism came after he lost his sister and his mind. He experimented on himself because there was no one else he could experiment on. But his experiments bore fruit. He grew stronger at a speed that would put even Celestials to shame. Though it was at a cost. His speedy breakthroughs halted his physical growth, and he was stuck as a child forever.
Countless failures in protecting his sister taught Breaker to be cautious. He didn't strike in a long time, and only when he had power far greater than the aggressors did he strike. He killed all the men that night. And he made sure to enjoy the moment, for they had tortured him for long. However, there was something he didn't know. Those men belonged to a gang. And once news spread that they were dead, the gang came for Breaker.
The gang was a strong one, and not even Breaker with his strength at the peak of the Earth Realm was their match. They injured him greatly that day, and were about to kill him when his sister appeared and gave her life in exchange for his. The gang was more than eager to accept a beautiful woman as their plaything and happily accepted the deal. Breaker would never forget the bright smile his sister had as she was led away. She knew she was in for a world of pain yet she could smile, because she knew that her actions would keep her brother safe. And Breaker went mad.
The deranged scientist began to perform even crazier experiments, and grew much stronger than he ought to have become. After a couple of years he was at the peak of the Heaven Realm. Not forgetting why he had performed so many dangerous experiments, Breaker tracked the gang down to rescue his sister. But upon killing all but one, he was told the grim truth – his sister was dead. She died a few months ago, having been toyed with to death by the men. In his fury he killed every person in that town. His mind was completely broken, and many powerful families sought his head. His strength dwindled once his mind lost its purpose, and he was a weakling in no time.
That was when the Dark God found him. The Dark One sealed Breaker's mind and his body, leaving him with nothing but his power as an Energy Wielder. His physical strength wasn't what it was, and the Dark God's seal prevented him from accessing his mindscape, meaning that his thinking wasn't as sharp as it was before. For his mindscape was now filled with memories of his sister. And he would rather not go down that memory lane for it was a sore one.
"You have great potential. Follow me. And I will help you get everything back." Those were the words the Dark God spoke to him. And that was all Breaker needed to follow him really. So he pledged his life to the Dark God and had been his servant ever since.
"When I left, I only wanted you to live in peace. You were in so much pain trying to protect me all the time that I tried to give you some space. I thought if I wasn't there, you would finally be able to live for yourself. I was wrong."
Breaker's sister was truly saddened by what he had become. Although she was assaulted daily, they were happy as long as they had each other. Everything changed when Breaker tried to change that. If he had stayed her weak little brother, instead of growing stronger none of the things that happened would have happened. He wouldn't have killed those men and faced he persecution of the gang. She wouldn't have left to die. And he wouldn't have lost his mind.
"We weren't happy. Surely we could smile because we had each other. But how could I just watch as you suffered each night? I would have lost my mind eventually. It would have just been a delay into the inevitable."
Breaker stated while biting into his lip. Of course his sister's reasoning was unacceptable to him. For there is no way one could watch another they loved weep every night in pain and be okay with it. Breaker had as much right to pursue power as anybody else. It was just unfortunate that he didn't succeed in accomplishing his one goal.
"You are still a naïve little boy," Breaker's sister sighed and finally pulled her hands out of his. "Legends say even Cronos couldn't manipulate time so, why would the one you follow have such authority?"
She didn't know much about the world. After all, their world was a small one. But it was still a Higher World. And as a world belonging to the 2nd Heaven, they knew of the Selfish Titan God. That man was till date, the greatest time wielder the True Universe had ever seen. If Cronos in his prime, with the aid of the Clock of Eternity, couldn't turn back time with such depth, how could a god who had no understanding of time be capable of such a feat? The Dark God was clearly using her brother! And Breaker was so blinded by his own desires that he failed to see that.
"It doesn't matter how. I just know he can." Breaker insisted.
"Very well. I will leave you to yourself. I hope you have clarity next time we meet." Breaker's sister frowned in disappointment before pulling back.
"Wait!" Breaker screamed, but his sister's figure disappeared anyway.
This was the reason he never allowed himself to break the seal. The torture of seeing his sister was always too much for him. And this torture was made worse every time he watched her disappear. His eyes were reddened in sorrow and anger, and he released a loud roar
*Ahhh!*
Back in the real world, Abe's eyes were flashing with understanding as his body his body inched ever closer to Breaker's. Since he was the one to have shaken Breaker's mind, he obviously had seen it all. The Wyvern's Roar wasn't merely a manifestation of his power, but an actual skill. It was meant to hypnotize, but it had done much more than that.
"So they were sent by the Dark God. I get it now."
