" Huh, where am I? " Alice looked around the place. What is this place? Her mind cannot stop wondering. Right now, she in a pink room. Basically everything is pink from the bed, to the wardrobe to the desk . She wonder how she can end up here. Wait, just now she suicide right?. So, is this hell or is this heaven? Surely, this is not hell as it is not hot or there is no fire or whatsoever near here. She got up from the bed and walked to the mirror at the end of the room. She watch her reflection in the full body mirror.
Who is that? She look at the person in front of her. Long brown hair that reach to her waist, large brown eyes and a pair of eyes like crystal that she can help to gasp. Is that me? The girl in front of her is so young and even she can deny by herself that the girl is beautiful. One that you cant help to turn tour head when you see her.
Searching for clues who is she and where is she, she look around the room and found a pink book which put on the desk. Reaching her hand toward that book, she open that book as she see the word inside,
'Alicia May'
Oh, so this body is also Alice. No, to be exact it is Alicia. A blue handwritten letter drop as she flip page by page on the book. Bending down, she picked up the letter and open the letter.
'Mum, Dad,
I am sorry. I cant help it anymore. I cant bear this sickness anymore. I cant help to felt like a burden to all of you. I know my disease cannot be treated. I know I am freak. I know what people think of me. But I dont want them to think bad about our family. Maybe If I am gone, no one can judge our family anymore. There is no longer Alicia who are a mental freak. '
Alice felt shocked. So the girl suicide also like her. So, this mean that both of them suicide and she is here to replace the girl. How about that girl? What is happening right now? Is this mean that she have another chance? Another chance to love herself? Another chance to forget all the pain from her past? But where is this place?
Suddenly, her door are open by the outside. Alice cant help to smile awkwardly as the old woman whom entered the room hugged her as she reach her.
"My little Alice, dont know how you make grandma worry? Your mum are still in her bed recuperating as she in shock when she hear you hang yourselves. Luckily someone found you before you lost your last breath"
The woman that called herself grandma hold Alice tightly and patted her at the back. Alice can't help to feel warm and comforted due to the pat that full of warmth. Not knowing why she cry but she shed her tears hearing the warm word. Maybe her pain from the past slowly dissipated from this warmth that Grandma give her. Deep inside by heart, she slowly accept this new identity.
"Grandma, I am sorry to disappoint. I also want to say sorry to mum. Where are mum? " Alice hold her grandma hand as she bring her to sit on the bed.
"My child, its okay. Your mum is just upstair. Do you want to meet her? ". Alice nodded and they go upstair together with her grandma. Twisting the door knob as she reach in front of her mother's room, she enter the room slowly. A woman in 40 is lying on the bed with a pale face but the paleness cannot outshine the beauty that the woman's had. Gazing down the woman, Alice hold her hand and she kissed it. She cant help to miss her own parents when looking at the woman in front of her. What her mother felt right now, eh? She must felt heartbroken when she comes to her room and only found a body without breath anymore. She felt sad. Sorry for her action. But consequently, it is her choice and she had to accept it. And she is here. I want to redeem my fault with this woman called Mom.
Caressing her mum hand, she said sorry even though the latter can't hear her. Please wake up. I am sorry, Mum. Truly sorry. Dont't know whom are she apologizing to . To her mum or to this mum. But maybe God give her chance to become a filial daughter with this new identity, new family, new life. A side of her thinks that there is no need for love like she do before this. Chasing after a man. Cheated onto. Like this new identity. She want to stop and begin her own life. What would life bring her after this?
