The next day she got up and went to freshen up . She remembered to use the shower cap this time, she didn't have to wash her hair everyday as Shen Yue taught her.
She walked out of her room to have breakfast . But then she saw the door to a room half open, along the hallway and there was a laptop on the bed. She was very curious about it and had heard all the amazing things she could do with it though she didn't know how to use it.
She still didn't know how to use it. Would she have to know how to use it get into school ?
Maybe she should just know how to turn it on.
She wanted to tiptoe into the room ...
"Xinyan what are you doing? "
She turned back quickly to see Shen Yue staring at her .
"I...I...nothing" she was a bit flustered and she didn't want her mom to think she did anything wrong.
"Alright then" Then they both went down for breakfast. Mother Mu , father Mu and grandfather Mu were already at the table . And just as they sat down Xia came downstairs.
"good morning great grandfather, good morning grandma , good morning grandfather"
Mu Xinyan greeted everyone enthusiastically. Just like the old caretaker taught her.
She now had a really big family. Everyone was surprised at her greeting. None of the children greeted their elders in the morning.
"Good morning dear " Elder Mu answered . Although they weren't expecting the greeting they still answered her well except for mother Mu who just grunted.
Xia came down and sat and immediately started eating.
"Xia, Xiner, you should be more like Xinyan and greet your elders every morning, understand"
"Yes grandpa" Xia and Xiner both said. Xiner though was obviously more upset. Thisbhad never been a problem before Xinyan came to this house. Now, it suddenly was.
Shen Yue scooped a bowl of rice porridge for her with some steamed vegetables. She really didn't like rice porridge. She had it almost every day at the orphanage but this one did look different, less slimy and more thick and it smelled fragrant.
Anyway she still picked up a spoon and tasted it. It was sweet! It wasn't tasteless but actually sweet. She liked it a lot. She put some vegetables in her mouth. It tasted really good and of course this showed in her face. This was the best breakfast she had had in her life. Mother Mu looked at her with disgust.
"You should eat gracefully and not like a person who hasn't tasted good food all their life " Grandma mu said, visibly looking down at her.
None of the other elders refuted her of course, they felt the same way, although her tone wasn't the best.
Mu Yinan wanted to say something but Father Mu gave him a look, he was angry but chose to speak to Xinyan and apologize to her privately later. He suddenly envirs his brother who got to live by himself with his family away from the elders.
"Sorry grandma" Mother Mu didnt expect that reaction from her she wanted her to at least lose her appetite but she just continued eating and apologised. She was still angry that this child got her to loose her appetite last night.
Although what mother Mu said hurt Xinyan she couldn't care less. She was really enjoying her food. Xiner was eating as gracefully as a young lady, she felt Xinyan shouldn't be eating at that table, but she said nothing, hoping not to upset the elders. She was happy her grandma called that wild girl out.
In mother Mu's eyes she thought Xiner was the cutest so well behaved and cultured.
"Xiao Yue, if we're getting a teacher to teach her on school studies, let's also get her one on etiquette" Mother Mu said.
Xiner revealed a smug look .
"Yes mother " Shen Yue agreed as she placed some fresh fruit slices in Xinyan's bowl. She didn't want Xinyan to be disgraced in public.
Xinyan happily ate the sweet fruit and was done with breakfast, she wanted to eat more but she was afraid that mother Mu would lash out on her again so she just went back to her room.
She felt bored. She looked at the shelf that had books on it, it was right beside the desk and chair. She looked at the books.They were novels and also some textbooks. She picked up one called 'Charms & Wars'
She began reading the book. It was really interesting to her. She didn't want to stay inside the room anymore so she closed the book.
As she stretched her hand to open the door, Shen Yue opened it instead.
Mother and daughter chuckled at the coincidence.
"Xinyan put on the shoes in the closet, we're going out to buy you some new clothes today"
"Really new clothes. The ones no one has used before ?"
"Yes dear "Shen Yue didn't know why she asked that question. She felt so guilty, Xinyan didn't deserve all that suffering. She was the heir of the Mu family. She deserved all the good things and tibbe treated like a princess.
Xinyan was so happy. Usually when people donated clothes to orphanage they had been used and worn out. And she always got the worst ones, so knowing she would get new clothes made her really happy.
