We're here for... Me? "Wait... Me? like I'm shopping?" I was confused and still tired, so my mind wasn't working as well as it usually does. "Yes, darling. you. Go shop for whatever you'd like, but make sure to grab a pair of tennis for school. Your father has a problem with you wearing Boots, so we're gonna go with his idea. If that doesn't work we will go back to how it is now. Okay?" I nod my head and I walk off. This store was bigger than I was used to. The waist on the pants was too big for me and the shirts were way to baggie. My mom just shook her head at the sight of me in the clothes. "Put them back Derick. I'm afraid this isn't gonna work." I go into the dressing room and I change back into my clothes. "Where's papa?"
"He's in another store. Shopping for you. I don't know how that's going to work because we don't even know your size in men. That's why I found this all pointless." I walk out of the dressing room. My face hurts from the stress. "Go put that stuff back. Try to at least find a few shirts and some shoes. The pants will just have to wait." I nod once again and I leave. As I walk to the pants section I hear a familiar voice. "These look nice right Dust-Dust."
"Mom, for the life of me, Please do not call me 'Dust-Dust'." Dustin? I walk over to the section I heard the voice from. "Dustin?" I walk towards the person, as they turn around I see his light blue eyes. "Dustin!!!" I run over to him as fast as I could and get hit by a cart. "Hey! watch where you going stupid girl."
"Boy."
"What?"
"I'm a boy, not a girl."
"There is no boy with such a feminine figure."
"It's a disorder!" I can see Dustin from the corner of my eye. "Hey! Leave him alone old man."
"Dustin!" He points at me. "Oh. Sir, could you leave the child alone?" Dustin's mom asked in a polite tone."Yeah!? why should I, he got in my way and now I'm lecturing him."
"Well sir-" I stand up, "Listen, just because you thought it was a good idea to walk with a cart on your phone, doesn't mean you can hit me and lecture me. It's not your job it's my mother's job, and on top of that, you mistake my gender and then tell me I'm wrong. I am a full-fledged male with a body and voice disorder given to me by my mother's smoking habits. She smoked and Drank while she was pregnant with me, and I ended up like this. Its a mistake I understand that but you don't have to remind me of the fact my mother wanted a girl instead of a messed up little boy." I add an irritating grin at the end. The guy just left and called me crazy. I feel someone's arms wrap around me. "geez man. You have got to stop doing that." I turn around and return the hug. "Stop what?"
"The whole 'I'm a mistake' thing. You are not a mistake."
"I know." He chuckled before letting me go. "You really know how to scare off strangers. Why are you in Marley's, Nothing here would fit you." I nod, "My father doesn't like the fact that girl fit pants are the only ones that fit me. So, he had us stop here before we leave the country."
"My poor son. How dare they take you out of your comfort zone." He hugs me and kisses my forehead. "Dustin, I think your mom wants an explanation." He turns around to see her standing there tapping her foot. "So, This is Derick Jones. The boy I was telling you about. AKA my son. He's adopted, obviously. I'm in his phone as 'papa' and he's in my phone as 'Son of Mine'." She just shakes her head. "Derick, let's go!" I see my mom motioning me towards her. "Welp, I couldn't call you, but I guess it's better to do in person anyways... Goodbye Stepfather. I'm gonna miss you." I give him a hug. "Don't forget to call me ya little nugget. okay?" I nod. He kisses my forehead one more time and waves me off. I'm really gonna miss him... A lot.
