Chapter 2 - My Saviour

It was all black. I felt like I was in a spacious room that was only filled with darkness. It was so quiet that I could feel my own breathing. I looked around me. I knew that I was not awake. That this was a dream. That I was all in my own mind.

Physically, I felt like my real body had enough rest. I could feel the injuries on my arms and body, but I felt that I was strong enough to wake up.

Slowly and steadily, I put force on my eyelids and opened my eyes. I was in a room. The walls were all painted white. Even the long curtains were white. The sun was shining brightly through the closed window.

My eyes shifted to the Panasonic air conditioner on the top side of the wall at my side. There was a small bedside table that was also white. For a moment, I was confused. Was I in heaven?

I realised that the layout of my bed was not in a shape of a rectangle or square, instead it was round like a circle.

"You're awake!" I looked up to that low, rough, yet soothing voice. A man, probably in his late 20s was walking towards me with a gentle smile. His white slim Oxford logo shirt with black khaki pants made my heart fluttered.

He sat beside me and looked carefully at my face and my arms. He gently touched my arms that were filled with bruises that were almost gone with his light brown hands. After checking, he looked at me again and smile. "Are you okay? I was worried. You were unconscious for two days."

"Whe-where am I?" I asked despite feeling uncomfortable on my throat. He seemed to realise that I felt pain in my throat as my eyes closed and my eyebrows furrowed in pain.

He caressed my hair and smiled. "You're in my place. You're safe. Don't worry too much."

I tried to get up and he helped me by rearranging the fluffy pillow vertically so that I could lean against the bed. "What happened?"

"You were drowning. Or maybe.. Sinking?" He shook his head. "I had to bring you to my place. I do not want them to know that you are alive."

I exhaled heavily. "You saved me."

"Yeah, I did." This time he his gentle touch moved to my eyebrows. I was enchanted by his warm eyes. His genuine concern made my eyes blurred with tears. "Don't cry, dear. Not for them."

I giggled. "Thank you, my saviour."

"Nurhan, call me Nurhan." He patted gently the top of my head.
