It was a rainy and windy night, perfect for a deep and peaceful slumber but it was not a peaceful one for Melody. She was tossing and turning about in bed, plagued by nightmares and memories that she can't seem to get out of. BOOM!!! The loud sound of thunder wakes her up with a start. She realizes that she is sweating profusely and she curls herself into a ball and cries her heart out as she recalls all those hurtful words and actions towards her.
She keeps on hearing the words, "You are not good enough for anybody", "You are just acting to seek attention", "You are a burden and a useless child to us" , and many more. At moments like this she hates herself for being weak. She finally calms down after half an hour of crying and she starts hiccuping. Melody reaches out towards the cup of water she always keeps on her bedside drawer and takes big gulps of water. She tries to remember where she is and she finally regains full consciousness that she is in her apartment and in her bedroom.
She checks the time and realizes it's 6 in the morning and she gets up and prepares to leave for work at the company she just got accepted. The well- known Linc Corporation, known worldwide for its wide chain of businesses. She dresses up in a professional lily white blouse, dark black pants with a blazer , matches it with a black handbag from Gucci and wears her modest heels and walks out of her highly secured apartment.
She quickly hails a cab and rushes off to work. Along the way she checks her documents and important things for work and as she looks outside the window she sees a couple walk by holding hands and cuddling with each other... she can't help but reminisce about what happened in the past... she feels a tear creep out of her eyes and she quickly wipes it away as she doesn't want her eyeliner to smudge on her first day of work. Melody thought she was long over what happened in the past but she didn't realise she hasn't been able to let go of it completely. .
She reminds herself to not believe in love again. She chides at herself for still remembering the past. Melody remembers how she struggled to get her new job as her close friend who betrayed her with her ex used her father's influence and did not allow a number of other companies to employ Melody. After 30 minutes, she reaches her workplace. She pays the cab driver and checked the time on her watch it's 7.45 am. She walks in quickly to the reception and asks about where she has to go.
