Chapter 7 - Transgression

7.

His breath came out labored against my ear. I smiled at my phone, I could imagine him running to pick up the call. I felt a faint pulse through our link. Closing my eyes, I savored the seconds before he spoke.

"Hey, what's up?" he said in a worried tone. "Did Edward chew you up?" he asked half-joking. Jacob knew Dad enough, to guess breaking the rules won't fly under the radar. And right now, I was about to break another one.

"Nah, they were so busy going out to hunt," I gave him a couple of minutes to let the information sink in. When I didn't get any protest I went on. "I'm ordering pizza... and I'm ALL alone," I emphasized the 'all' part.

"Re," he sighed. "You know Edward will kill me if I come over when I'm not invited, right?" I crossed my fingers chanting please-please in my head. I knew he could feel it and hoped he would bend under my strong will. I heard him sigh again in resignation. I cheered and jumped off the bed.

"I'll bring sodas," he chuckled. "You're a bad influence on me," he added.

"I don't think anyone will believe you. Since I'm such an innocent little girl," I said in a playful voice. He laughed, his happiness slipping through the link making me shiver. "I miss you already, I want us to be together always," I bite my lips while pressing the phone to my ears. His breathing was rough. I like that about him.

"You know we can't," he sounded serious again. I knew we had to wait. But for how long?

"Ok, just get your ass here, we'll make up for last time we couldn't watch your damn movie," I pouted and that tore more cheerful laughter from him. We hang up, I took that time to take a shower and wash my hair. When I was done, Jacob was knocking on the back door. I rolled my eyes when I pulled my extra-large panda T-shirt over a tiny pink pair of shorts.

"Why are you coming through the back door?" I crossed my arms over my chest. His eyes followed the movement but quickly averted his eyes with a crooked smile. The one I was so weak against.

"I thought it would be bad if neighbors saw me," he scratched the back of his head. His hair was getting long again. They almost reached his shoulders.

"Neighbours, really?" I narrowed my eyes at him. "We live in the middle of nowhere, our nearest one is like 2 miles away," I pointed out. He cocked his head to the side, smile dropping.

"Re, there are other things in those woods," I sighed and stepped aside to let him in. He placed a bottle of sparkling orange-flavored soda on the kitchen counter. 'Blood orange' was written in a fat red font.

"So what movie did you bring?" He pulled a blue Ray case from under his T-shirt and tugged in the waistband of his jeans. The cover showed a giant ant crawling over a house as a man and a woman fled for their lives. Awesome. I rolled my eyes internally. Yet, another low-budget catastrophe.

"The night of the Dracula ant," he flashed me a huge grin. "A musical," he smashed like the last nail in my coffin. I gave him a nervous smile and moved to the living room where the TV was found.

"Marvelous, that sounds like a family documentary," I shouted with heavy sarcasm. I grabbed the remote and felt his arms hugged me from behind. I jumped and giggled. I sprung around and leaned to kiss him. But he used the movie case as a shield. I pouted. He sunk into the couch stretching his arm on the back. I glared at him under thick lashes.

"Where is the pizza?" he grinned. Just then the doorbell rang.
