Chapter 3 - Causing Him to Hallucinate

"Cev, stop. You are gesturing to me as if you're holding something but the truth is, you're not holding anything," she said and I got surprised.

Can she really not see anything? Why is that? Am I getting insane? Is this just a dream or an imagination?

Terra held my arm. "Cevin, I think you're stressed out. Y'know… from work and studies. You have to rest. I'll wait for you at the desk," she said with concern evident in her voice and walked away from me. I just looked at the book I was holding and got really curious as to why I was the only one who could see the book.

I'm still staring at the book. I can't believe why Terra couldn't see it while I can. I know that I'm not dreaming. This can't happen in real life.

I made a decision to get the book. I returned to my sister at the desk and sat beside her then the two patrons in front of us looked at me, as if I did something crazy. Terra did a face palm and sighed.

Great… now the patrons think I'm crazy and my sister thinks I'm doing a show.

I looked at the patrons in front of us. "Can you see the book I'm holding," I asked. They both looked at each other then back at me then shook their heads no as the answer.

"Argh!" I shouted when I realized that I really am the only one who can see the book. The patrons got surprised and my sister just hit the back of my head as if I did something insane.

"Sorry for that," my sister told the patrons. "My brother's been sleeping late these days maybe it's causing him to hallucinate," she added as she returned their library cards and as soon as they got hold of it, they left.

I looked at the book in front of me. What is with this book that's why it can't be seen by other people? Why am I the only one who can see this book? This book doesn't seem special, and I am not special to be the reason why I can see it, either.

Terra looked at me sharply. "What the hell are you doing, Cev? Can you please stop being absurd! It's so unlike you!" She whispered angrily at me as she rolled her eyes after saying her statement. "They might think you're crazy. We work here everyday," she added and I still couldn't talk to her.

I looked at the time. It's already 6:21 in the evening and I need to go home to make dinner. I cook better than my sister that's why when mom isn't around, I cook in her place. Which is most of the time.

I stood up and put the book inside my bag. "I'm going home, Terra. I will cook dinner. Tell your boyfriend to walk you home," I told her and she just looked at me.

"Okay," she just said and before I went out, she grabbed my hand.

"Cevin, I hope you're okay," she said with concern. I smiled at her as an answer. She may be a pain in the ass with her attitude and with her being playful but she can be bearable and sweet at times.
