The portal hummed quietly as Rhythian and I were walking towards it. I stopped in front of it to take a few moments before taking in what might be on the other side. I took a step in before a ringing sound came in and out my ear. In shock, I turned towards where I heard the ring and soon after, I heard the sound of metallic footsteps coming closer.
Rhythian seemed to have sensed this too. He turned to look at the iron door. I turned to face the same direction. We didn't feel panicked since the iron door was hard enough to open for us as it is, but that opinion soon changed when the door soon had dark smoke enveloping it. The door cracked under it's pressure and soon burst into pieces. The debris flew towards our direction as Rhythian blocked most of them as he stepped up in front of me to do so. Rhythian looked behind him and soon saw numerous Yorthos knights pour into the room, taking stances as they started to surround us.
Soon after, a hooded man wearing a dark cloak and light armor walked up into the room. The same dark smoke was seeping from under his cloak. The man grew a grin before looking at Rhythian.
Rhythian seemed to have flinched and shake from this man's presence. Was he afraid of him? Or was it something else? Whatever it was, Rhyhian seemed furious...
Rhythian then turned his head towards me and whispered.
"Mileena...Head through the portal..."
This caused me to look at him with worry, causing me to interrupt him.
"No! If you're staying, then I am too!" I yelled out as the men started to inch closer.
"Mileena, head to the portal now! I don't want you getting hurt!"
"But I can handle myself! Let me-"
"NO!...No..." Rhythian yelled out, causing me to flinch a little bit. I have never heard Rhythian as mad like that before. This situation must be serious, but serious or not, I am not leaving him...
I summoned my bow and pulled on the string to nock an arrow in.
"I...am not leaving you Rhythian..." I said out confidently as he looked forward and let out a sigh. He then raised his arm and opened his pal, allowing some mana to focus on the center of it. The ball of mana then formed into the shape of a long sword. As the mana finished it's shape, it then dispersed and showed a long sword with a crystal blade and dark steel hilt and guard with a gem resting on it's pommel. Rhythian then grasped the hilt and held it tight. He went into a stance and let out yet another sigh.
"Fine..." He muttered before turning around and sending a huge gust of wind in my way, pushing me into the portal. Time slowed down as he did that. As I was falling into the portal, I couldn't comprehend what was happening when he pushed me, only a sight of Rhythian with his arm reaching out towards my direction as a white aura dispersed from his hand.
Rhythian looked at me for a few seconds before turning towards the men. The hooded figure pointed towards Rhythian, causing them to start the attack. Rhythian fought valiantly against the wave of opponents as they dropped like flies. Suddenly, a dark aura enveloped Rhythian, stopping him in his tracks. Making him kneel as the knights started to beat him up and take him away. I yelled out his name as the portal was closing, but all of that seemed like nothing when they finally took him away.
The hooded man looked at me and grew a smile before the portal closed fully, causing me to travel to the destination Rhythian set out.
I was sent out the other end of the portal wth much force, causing me to fall and roll out on the ground. I tried to stand as that gust of wind gave me quite the impact. I looked at where the portal was and saw it close. I stumbled towards the etchings and knocked on it a few times as tears started to flow from my eyes. I did this a few times before I simple rested my hands on the wall.
Why would he do that? I could've helped him...I could've been with him...
I ran those thoughts on my head for quite some time as I turned around and leaned against the wall with the portal etchings. I then looked around and noticed that I was in an old library with different types of scriptures and books around. I let out a deep sigh before hugging my knees and looking down. I then remembered something...
I took a quick look at my tattoo and remembered that this had magical properties. I had to give it a try...
I turned around and reached out with my hand. I tried to use my tattoo as I grunted. There was no response, but I tried again anyway.
"Come on...COME ON!!!" I yelled out as I tried once more, only to be met with nothing. I dropped my arm and looked down as I took a few steps back, soon stopping as I rested on a shelf. I slid down into a sitting position as I hugged my knees once more.
The tears that were building up now fell as they ran down my cheeks, causing me to sob. I was now alone in a dark library with no one to seek upon. Memories of Rhythian soon came across my mind, which caused me to become even sadder.
I looked down as I cried and uttered a few words.
"Rhythian..." I whispered before I soon lost myself in thought to distract myself from the current situation.
