After a couple of hours of walking, Emilia, Clark, Claire and I eventually got to the distant city of Genesis. A city under the rule of the kingdom of Yorthos, but follows rules of its own accord. That is why this city has a variety of species within it's walls. Together with a community of fighters called The Guild. From what I've learned, The Guild is an association that consists of many people called Adventurers. Their role is to complete contracts that is given by the citizens to maintain peace within the city of Genesis.
The three novice adventurers have also explained a couple of things while we were leaving the tunnel system. They told me that they were only Copper rank adventurers, the lowest rank within the guild. Apparently, ranks are what titles the Adventurers in their pursuit for fame and fortune...
"So Miss Mileena, where did you learn how to fight like that? You seem like a Titanium rank with those skills..." Claire spoke out as she walked beside me while Emilia and Clark had their own chat as they walked in front of us.
"Well, I learned it as I went along..." I replied as I decided to keep Rhythian's name as secret. It's better to be cautious within this city knowing that there are Yorthos forces everywhere. As that thought crossed my mind, I realized tat I still haven't revealed to them that I was half-dragon. I adjusted my hood, sleeves and cape to keep my horns, scales, and tail hidden from the public...
"You have to teach us a couple of moves from time to time...Oh I know! Why don't you join the Guild? They could use your skills!" Claire suggests enthusiastically as she looked to the sky and stretched her arms.
Joining the Guild...I guess a prestigious association like that is bound to have information that could lead me to where Rhythian might be...It could be a good start...
"Hm...I guess I'll think about it." I replied as I gave Claire a reassuring smile. She seemed astounded to hear my reply. She then hopped for joy as she let her happiness out for a second, like a child who was just praised for something she did.
"That's great! I'll go ahead and tell the others!" She spoke out enthusiastically as she jogged to catch up with the others.
I let out a quiet sigh as I saw the gleeful bunch just simply enjoying themselves. Seeing that made me wonder if I was going to have a life like this soon...
As my mind trailed off once more, I was brought back by Emilia shyly calling my name saying that we have arrived at the Guild. As I turned to look at the building, I could see that this place was truly wealthy as it had a clean white marble wall lining it with gold indents on it's design. I would admit...I was impressed.
The three then gestured that I should come in as they went inside the guild. I took a deep breath before taking a step inside the building. Inside was just as impressive outside. However, the building was crowded with Adventurers. Some were wearing full clad armor, some were wearing simple leather, some wore robes; but all of them were the same, all talking about their last contract, their adventures, and others more that would make them enjoy their day.
As I looked around inside the building, I could see Emilia and Clark heading upstairs to a hallway deeper inside the building. Claire called me to the front desk. I was curious to see why I was needed there so I walked closer to investigate.
Claire had a warm smile on her face as she spoke to the lady behind the counter. The lady soon gave Claire a piece of paper that seemed to have a lot of text on it. Claire turned to me and handed me the said paper.
"This is the official form of Adventurers. It contains various information that the Guild could use to officially title you as an adventurer." She spoke out in her usual tone. I looked at the piece of paper as the text on the top right corner glowed for a while before it showed the number "59" on it. Claire stood beside me ad looked at my paper. She seemed to be amazed when she saw the number.
"Woah! That amazing!" Claire was still astounded by the number, leading to my curiosity.
"What does this mean?" I pointed it out before catching Claire's attention. She looked at me with an impressed look on her face.
"That, Miss Mileena, is your personal level. It's what the Guild uses to measure your overall strength. The higher it is, the stronger you are; and you, Miss Mileena, have just ranked 59!" Claire expounded as she kept that impressed look on her face.
"I only ranked 18 on the levels, even Emilia and Clark only ranked 12 and 14..." Claire added as she was still in astonished by my 'level'.
"If you join our party, we can rise through the ranks in no time!" Claire finished her comment as she looked at me with a surprised face. I suppose that the higher the level, the better chance you could get at ranking up.
I looked at my paper once more and thought that if I could rise up the ranks within the Guild, then I could access information much easier than hunting for it. As much as I want to save Rhythian as early as possible, staying low and adapting to the public is much easier to move around on. Just like what he taught me...
I took a deep breath and looked up towards the insignia of the Guild. Joining this association may mean revealing myself to the public and drawing attention to myself from time to time, but it's a risk I am willing to take if it means finding Rhythian's whereabouts. I took yet another deep breath before placing my hand on the form, enveloping it with a soft bright light. As the light fades away, the form was completely filled with my information.
I looked towards the counter and placed my form on the table. I then turned to claire and raised a fist up high.
"Let the adventure begin!"
