Chapter 9 - It’s going to be a hard night

Thursday 13th April: 1723: 7:30 PM

Our tents are up now. We are ready for the night. We are now getting ready to eat. Me and Robert both helped to cook the food which took long since we was using a single lantern. Yes it seems as if it won't do anything but it is working. Working very slowly.

Finally!! After a couple of hours waiting, the food was done. We all gathered round the lantern and started to eat. After that we was chatting and singing songs together while warming ourselves by the the fire. It was one way to let go of all the sadness from the death of Jeremy. But we'll always miss him, and we know he'll always be with us on this journey and others. Well if we make it alive.

I got up and carefully walked to a river that was near our camp. This river was much deeper and wider than the other one, and I'm guessing if you fall in this one you'd probably get dragged straight out to sea. I crouched down and looked down at the water and looked at my reflection and started to think.

I felt quite relaxed here. The sounds of the river as it ran it's way in to the river and then to the breeze which I could somehow tell that it was going to get heavier during the night. I don't know how I could tell. I guess it was instincts. Coming back to the dream I started to remember my dream. I started to think if that dream would come true. After a couple of minutes I shook my head. It was just a dream. It can't come true. Or could it?

Finally, I got up and walked back to camp. As I got past the first tent Robert ran up to me and with an anxious tone in his voice he said, "we have trouble!!" The sound in his voice made me worry and I asked "what is it?" He continued, "a storm is coming!!"

I soon gasped and looked down and thought to myself, this is it. The dream was a warning. It must've been. I then said "tell everyone to get inside the tents." My tone in my voice fell quieter and I continued, "I don't think not all of us will survive this night." Robert asked with a tone of sadness, "what shall we do?" I then sighed and said, "we will go back to the ship, there's no way we're ready to carry on this adventure. It's clear it's to dangerous." I sighed and looked up at the sky, "at least we managed to get here, but it seems that we was unprepared by the challenges of this place.

I looked back at Robert and said, "Let's go back to the tents. We need our rest." Soon we both made our way back to our own tents. Well he went first since I made sure everyone was in their tent.

After I checked all the tents, I made my way back to my tent and lay down in my sleeping bag and fell asleep.
