Chapter 10 - Are we going to survive?

Friday 14th April: 1723: 4:00 AM

Shivering and cold, I woke up. The storm was above camp now. I could hear it. Feel it hitting the tents side aggressively. I was glad it didn't tip over due to the wind being that strong. I wanted to get out of my tent but I knew it would have been to dangerous, so I just sat here. Sat here and waited. Waiting for the storm to end.

I looked next to me saw Robert at the other side of the tent sleeping. Frost in his hair. He was shivering in his sleep. This wasn't a good situation to be in. Was we going to die? I looked back at the tent entrance and lay back down. I wondered to myself if we will all make it back home.

Bravely, I got up and crawled my way to the exit and unzipped the door and looked out of the tent. The icy floor was foggy due to the storm. I felt a shiver run down my spine as the ferocious wind struck my face as it ran its way to wherever it was going to go. It was going north. Well that's what I think. I couldn't even see the sledge that carried all the supplies, which kind of worried me. Maybe it was just hidden in the fog or has the storm already picked it up. I wanted to check but I couldn't so I shook my head to get the thought out and zipped the door and got back into my sleeping bag.

I stared up at the roof as I tried to drift back to sleep. But that was hard. Knowing that this storm could kill or even make things worse, that made it hard to sleep. Very hard. But I knew I had to sleep, if I wanted to lead them all back to the ship. I knew it would be harder going back due to the storm and the extra snow, that'll make things harder to recognise. Well I believe we just went straight. Well I think we did.

Finally, I managed to clear the thoughts out of my head. So I closed my eyes and managed to fall asleep.
