Chereads / Dark Isekai / Chapter 88 - Remember me

Chapter 88 - Remember me

"Where. Is. Misa." Using all the goodwill I have left in me, I held back from punching him in the face.

"Misa?" Damon and Felix's eyes instantly landed on Grail, "What is this?!" they shouted simultaneously.

Does Felix know Misa? Wait, not the time. Grail better not lay a hand on Misa damn it.

"What the hell did you do?!" Shin grabbed Grail's collar, throwing him against the wall, breaking the elegant decor, cracking the surface of the wall.

Shin's eyes held a storm stirring inside as he pieces the puzzle, seeing the painting of the story as a whole. His grip tightens more and more, his nails almost piercing through Grail's collar from the force.

"Answer Amber's question. Where is Misa?!" With all Shin's strength, he pushed even harder, but all we could see from Grail was a grin.

Felix's eyes changed course to glare at me with surprise and confusion as he tried to make sense of it all.

Well, the mask is useless now, he knows I'm Amber... wait no, not yet. It's good some of my face is obscured to Grail. He can't enjoy my rage.

"This wouldn't have happened if your country would just leave us in our world," I muttered. I blame Grail for my suffering much more than Leon itself, but the fact is Leon's summoning was the root of my suffering.

Felix didn't have a reply to me. Standing there, silent. Perplexity and guilt flooded his eyes all at the same time. You let this happen to us... you're strong. If you were with us back then... maybe... maybe all those people wouldn't have been captured. Maybe they would still be alive now. Maybe I would still be human now.

"Where is she?!" Shin pulled him back and slammed him into the wall again and again and again.

Something about it... feels so... satisfying.

"Hey," Damon reached out to Shin, "Maybe that's eno-"

"Enough?" I interrupted him, "Damon, you lost your right to say that the moment you killed my target. There are no saints here." You have no rights to stop this. That massacre was supposed to be done by me. I wanted to see the bastard that tortured me. I wanted to see his face as I repeat what he did.

Bright beautiful blood started to run down Grail's face, but his grin remained.

Kill him.

Bruises scattered across his face.

Kill him.

His refined white cloak started to tear.

Kill hi-

"F-Fay," Grail uttered and in a single second Fay's daggers found her way wrapped around Shin's arms.

"P-Please... do not... do not let me hurt you," Fay whispered as Grail's grin widened.

Shin, in disbelief, lets go of him and stepped back, astonish, "But he took Misa,". His anger changed into bewilderment, discomposure, shock.

"I do not know who you are referring to... please do not hurt master," Fay's hand shivered as she pointed her dagger to Shin.

"Is he really more important than us? More important than Misa. More important than me?" Shin asked a selfish question none of us wanted to hear an answer to. We all know what she'll say, but no one wanted her to say it out loud.

Fay shivers grew as she gathered all the strength in her heart to reply with eyes glittering the tear's reflection of each candles' light, "Y-Yes..."

"No... not you too... you can't betray me too... no. Y-You just have to remember! Remember me! You were my friend!" Shin grabbed Fay's hands, pointing the knife away making the girl's tears start rolling down even more.

"That's enough..." My voice drowned in the sea of constant shouting.

"Just remember! Come on! I'm the person that watched all those stupidly predictable romance shows with you! I'm the person that sat out of gym with you cause you couldn't run! It's me damn it!" Shin's desperate pleads only managed to make her cry even more... and Grail's having a field day from it.

"Please stop... I... I do not r-remember, leave me alone," Her hands pulled back to cover her ears as she walked away from Shin.

"Try harder! I know you do! It's still there!" Shin stepped towards her but was pulled back by Felix and Damon

"Don't force it, dude," Damon struggled to hold Shin back.

"She remembers! She called me an incompetent maniac! She can remember mor-"

"Shut up!" Fay shouted for the first time, her voice cracked as the room went silent, "Maybe I forgot cause I didn't want to remember people like you," She backed into Grail, wiping away her tears.

That was... the first time. The first time in a long time I heard her speak like she was from our world.

The silence was deafening. People who knew her were shocked. People who didn't were perplexed and Aurelius hid behind Felix like the child he should've had the chance to be.

"Now," Grail broke the silence, "We shall be off. Do not worry your little head, human king. I stand by my words, we will still offer assistance. The demons, however... are not our problem,"

He threw a piece of paper with a transmutation circle on it into the air. As it started burning without a cause, Grail and Fay started to glow.

"You're not going anywhere!" Shin slipped out of Felix and Damon's hold, railing back for a punch before the hand thuds in through the wall, cracking the side completely... but it was too late.

They're gone.

Shin pulled out his hand silently and railed back again with the loudest roar I've ever heard, "DAMN IT!"
