Lea reached out for her hands, Selena accepted it and felt the softness of her palms.
(Damn what lotion is she using? I have been baking for months that my hands felt like I have been working in the rice field) she pouted with the thought.
When Lea gripped her hands, Selena came back to the reality
She stared at Lea, looking into her eyes shining with sincerity.
"look, you really seem nicer than the triplets and Louisa but," she smiled, suddenly missing her four naughty cousins.
"I am staying -"
"Selena it's more dangerous than you think. Why do you think they left you here? Daniella knows that we are coming, the organization is coming and she left without you. Your uncle Evan left you. They need to save their kids first, so Selena, wake up. You are not a Su."
Both hands of Lea on Selena's shoulder shaking it to make her realize the weight of her words but, Selena was just looking at the woman with confusion.
She suddenly laughed, "cut the crap ok? And tell me, you are here for the vault too, aren't you?"
And as she said that, Lea's hands on her shoulders dropped back on her side.
Her face with innocent of a sheep twisted, and a villainess smirk plastered on her lips.
Lea straightened up, her feet moved and paced around the living room.
"You know about the vault?" Lea smiled; eyes threw a piercing look at her.
"How did you know that?" She continued.
Selena blew a sigh, "my mom's last voicemail said that there's a vault that can protect me. She said it's for my protection."
Selena's eyes dimmed, her mother's last message was so vague, (trust Daniella) that was her mother's last words. She doesn't know what it means but some things became clear.
And she knows she can't trust Lea, if she does really care about her safety, she would have looked for her after her mother died but, no, she suddenly showed up.
Her mother was right, no one would protect her than herself. She trusts Daniella and knows that she must be planning something but after this incident, she will be more active for her sake.
"Did Daniella tell you how your mother died?"
Selena shook her head, heart started pounding indifferently.
"Your mother died by the bullet she took for Daniella and guess what happened next? She left your mother dying on the island, alone. Can you imagine what your mother had gone through that day?"
Selena gulped hard, feeling her throat drying as she remembers her mother.
She bit her lips hard, heart gripped by such thought.
Selena looked at the window, heart pulsated as she suddenly felt alone, no family or anyone that could comfort her.
Utterly speechless with that she had just heard.
"Is it true?" she asked with a broken voice.
"It's true Selena." A familiar serious voice suddenly spoke from somewhere.
Selena turned; eyes widened as she watched her father coming down from upstairs.
"Dad," she murmured.
Nathan smiled at her, "We tried to give you a normal life Selena. We don't want you to deal with this, especially your real cousin but," he paused and looked at Lea with narrowed eyes.
"Samantha was able to read my action. Instead of using her, she used me instead," Nathan's hands clenched on the side, anger reddened his face.
"We are from the family of spy Mr. Su," Lea replied, half grinning.
"You have been manipulated by my aunt Kierry and luckily we got Samantha on our side, I can't blame her, your family is a mess."
Saying that Lea called out the guards from downstairs but, no one was coming.
"Kathy," Lea yelled.
"Yes?" Kathy's head peeped from the stairs.
"I need your help here."
Selena immediate rushed towards her father, held on his arms with fear in her eyes.
"Dad, what is happening?" suddenly, the fear she held since Lea started talking to her burst, now that she had someone, she somehow felt safer even though Lea had just asked Kathy to bring her people up.
"It's going to be alright Sel, After this, I want you to have a normal life, enjoy it. Your mother and I owe it to you."
Selena's heart throbbed, feeling that a bad omen is about to come. Why didn't her father told her about this, about Samantha working with her cousin?
What about his marriage with Samantha? Did he really stay with her so he could protect her?
So many questions in her mind but there's not enough time. She knows that they will die and somehow the feeling of dying without saying goodbye to the people she loves somehow pained her.
Soon, footsteps sounded from downstairs, followed by the smoke filling the living room.
Her father immediately pulled her to hug, burying her face in his chest.
When all the smoke disappeared, Selena found Lea laying on the ground, eyes opened but, the body seems to have been paralyzed.
"What happened to her," she asked her father, confused that it's only Lea on the ground while Kathy and the other men from downstairs were still up and covering their mouths.
"We got help from Killian's boss to entrap your cousin, she has been watching you since you came back."
Selena turned to Kathy, squatting next to the unconscious Lea. Something about her reminded her of Daniella, probably the movements and sarcasm were similar.
"You mean, this is all set up?"
"Yeah," Kathy said and got up.
"Mr. Su, don't forget our deal? Daniella said she will give me protection in exchange for this," she continued, pointing at Lea.
"Yes, thanks for your help."
Kathy nodded, she was about to leave when she suddenly remembers something, "oh yeah, what shall I do to Samantha?
"What about Samantha?" Selena asked, looking at her father.
"Give her to Danny Chen, he'll handle it."
