Soon, Kathy and all the man she was with had left as well.
It was just Selena, her father, and the guard, she was sitting on the couch with trembling hands, mind filled with million questions she doesn't know how to ask.
Why would something like this happen today? Earlier they had just a normal breakfast and suddenly her Uncle was gone with his family and her cousin showed up.
"Dad," Selena's trembling voice called out her father. Her whole body still trembles with what had just happened.
"Yes?"
"About Samantha," she reached out for her father's hands, wanting to send a message that she's here for him.
Nathan gave a faint smile, "I am fine Sel, my relationship with her ended the first time she betrayed me."
Even with the smile on his face, Selena could still see the pain in his eyes, "Did you ever love her?"
He nodded with no hesitation, "I did, before but she betrayed me once and we both know that a traitor will always be a traitor. We just became so custom of her being around that we forgot that she knows the twin's weakness."
"What happened, dad?"
Nathan sighed, accompanied her towards the couch and sat next to her, raised a hand and lightly strokes her hair.
"The last time we were here, she somehow managed to sneak a robotic mosquito in the house. It bit Daniella's legs extracting a poison to her nerves. We had Killian check the poison and unfortunately, the effect was internal so her nerves are swollen though they looked normal outside."
She gasped, feeling guilty that she even doubted the only person who had her back through all these years.
"Is she going to be alright? what about my cousins, do they know?"
Nathan shook his head, "no, Evan and Daniella will be gone for some days."
"And the kids?"
"Oh, they will come back on Sunday."
Selena rose an eyebrow, "Wait, please don't tell me that I need to take care of them?" She pitied her auntie but she doesn't have enough energy and will power to handle four kids.
Nathan chuckled, "Don't worry, Danny will be here."
"Hei or Chen?" she asked.
"Hei."
Selena nodded. Her father excused himself to talk to the guard while she stayed sitting on the couch.
Her mind relaxed but her body still trembles. Her head leaned on the couch, feet lay on the table and, few deep breath let out from her lips.
Minutes later, Selena felt the space next to her moving, her eyes opened and face turned to look at her side.
"Alejandro," she murmured with shock, body moved to sit up.
The face she didn't see for some days, remembering the past they had and what she had done with his brother has made her feel awkward and tense.
"What are you doing here?" she asked, avoiding his eyes.
Out of nowhere, Alejandro pulled her to embrace, she wanted to pull but, he whispered, "I think your dad didn't know that we have broken up, he called me this morning," and a slight kiss was planted on her head.
Selena sighed and moved away a bit from him.
"You can go now, I will explain everything to my dad," she gave a wry smile, uncertain on how to act in front of him.
He nodded, got up and turned to her father standing next to the window.
"Mr. Su, I will be leaving now. I still have some patients," Alejandro politely said.
Nathan who had just done talking to his brother over the phone went closer to the couch, a big victorious smile on his lip, eyes twinkling with happiness.
"Ok, thank you for your help, I met your father last night and he said only good things about you Ha, ha," Nathan scratches his head, feeling unease as he continued, "my daughter is not getting younger so if you two have plans-"
"We broke up Mr. Su," Alejandro cut Nathan out straight, and the latter man flashed a troubled face.
"I didn't know," Nathan's eyebrow creased, turned to Selena looking down quietly at the floor.
"Well, it is my fault. I was stupid and she just doesn't deserve to be treated that way. She deserves better," the last words were said in an almost whisper, Nathan could see the gloom in Alejandro's eyes as he peeked a glance at Selena.
Nathan sighed; he knew what Alejandro had done but, it didn't occur to him that Selena would break up because of that.
He patted Alejandro's shoulders - soothing him like a son, "Thank you for coming."
Alejandro nodded, turned around and walked towards the stairs.
"Let me walk you out," Selena said, plastered a smile as she met Alejandro's eyes.
