"Oh boy." Jade stared at the mess in the washroom.
Shards of glass, small and big, were scattered on the floor. And in the middle of it all was a brazen Luna sitting on the glass.
With a bleeding leg, and a bleeding heart.
Jade rushed to her and pulled her up,
"The girl in the mirror won't go away." Luna whispered, petrified.
Jade looked at the mirror confusedly, the hinges were there but the mirror no longer was.
"The girl.. she wont leave me alone." Tears shone on her frosty white face.
"You wouldn't want to face the hounding officers, lets go."
Jade took her to the laundry room and sat her down behind a pile of sheets.
"Now tell me what happened."
Luna hugged her knees to her chest and her bottom lip quivered, "That night at the Le Caprice, when I had tried to hold Ella, she had pushed me aside and she ran away, in front of me next to a Turkish lamp was a huge mirror almost the size of half the wall.
I stared at my reflection," Luna muttered, her face scrunched in frustration. "With such pride, such imprudent pride, oblivious to the chaos heading my way. Later I realized that was the moment I should've run away, there were no security cameras, and Ella was going to deny she was there anyway. I should've run away." She agonized.
"Yet I stayed." She breathed out, "And I foolishly trusted that I would be commended."
"And now that triumphant face haunts you, flaunting that you cant change anything." Jade uttered.
"I relive the betrayal, the pain over and over, every time I look in the mirror.."
"Luna, look, you cannot be this weak, you need to be dauntless. The girl in the mirror isn't the only danger, look around you. You'll never we safe here. You need to put on a stronger front."
"Im not that good at fighting, I got lucky with that man because of my rage and the adrenaline rush."
"Well, for now let's get your leg treated and tonight we'll sneak out to teach you some basic fighting techniques."
So, later that night, Molly let them out into the yard so that they could practice.
"First of all lets start with an easy one which helps you attack from the back."
Luna listened intently with big eyes and Jade chuckled.
"Cute."
"Okay so, I like to call this one the swiftie, because its all about being precise and swift."
"Okay."
Jade steadied Luna in position and came from behind her, "The first step includes two movements, both with your arms."
She locked her right arm around Luna's, pulling her. And used the second one to put her in a - slightly painful - choke hold,
Luna let out a strangled noise.
And the next step involves locking your left leg in their right one, making them lose their balance."
She did exactly that and if Jade let her go she would definitely fall face first.
"Then strengthen your holds."
Luna clenched her jaw as Jade almost strangled her and made her fall but she stopped and pulled her back up just inches away from the ground.
Her hold on her throat persisted but she loosened it.
"Luna, look."
With much difficulty she followed Jade's gaze and looked up to see an array of white specks descending from the sky.
Luna's first snow in prison.
