"But I have a girlfriend also. So one friend and one girlfriend." I finished my sentence, much to the displeasure of mum.
I hit back, making the curve on mom's face turn upside down. After all I wanted to reassure certain things and clear a few doubts.
"Too early for such talks? I guess he is at phase wherein he might get married even before he finishes his school." replied aunt with a smirk.
"Who is she?" mom started to worry.
"My classmate." I drooled.
"Look at him! He is drooling already. So tell me more." aunt was at her best.
"What to tell? As I said she is my classmate and she is my girlfriend." I hid myself in shame.
"Her name darling, her name!!" insisted aunt.
"Anshu."
"As in Anaisha Mangala?" puzzled mom.
"Yes the same girl, how do you know her?" I baffled, maybe they both knew what was happening.
"You guys used to have lunch together in your kindergarten. Don't you remember?" mom replied.
Of course, that's how she should have known about Anshu. I was relieved to know that no old friend of mom had initiated any suspicious thoughts to mom, for mom worked in the same school until a year before. Cause if your mum finds out something about you, which you haven't admitted to her in the first place, you're bringing down hell upon yourself.
"Yeah of course, I do. But we weren't friends back then. But we are now"
"Thank the good Lord! She is just a friend." mom breathed a sigh of relief.
I just realised that she took me for someone who took girlfriend and friend as one, especially to hear me quote 'friends'. Someone who never knew the difference between the two.
"No we are friends, but she is my girlfriend" I corrected her of her assumption.
"You are too early to know the difference between a friend and girlfriend. So stop blabbering."
"No mom. I know it."
"What do you know?"
"The difference between the two. And also that she is my girlfriend. And I'm gonna propose her."
