"That's my boy." rejoiced aunty with a fist-pump with me.
"Oh my good Lord! Kick some sense into this idiot. No way you're going to be doing that." Mom was really starting to get worried.
"See I told you, he is gonna get married even before his school ends." opened up aunt, irking mom even more.
"Now you don't complicate things. That girl is like moon to him. Stop giving him false hopes" Mom was trying to talk some sense.
"Why do you think so?" aunt took sides with me.
"My dear is equally good for any girl." Now that's something positive, at least aunt's on my side.
But what exactly is mom referring to? Moon to me? I'm I that unworthy? Of course I may not have the 'cool dude' looks, still I'm worth something.
"Ok let me brief. One! They are Hindu." Mom started to list out the reasons.
"Even you were a Hindu, but you got converted. We can do the same." I asserted.
"OK. I'm not really sure as to how you plan on making that happen. Anyways moving on. Two! They are Telugu."
"C'mon. So were we. In fact we still are." Aunt echoed.
Mom was a Telugu Brahmin before she got married. Well it wasn't a love tale, but an arranged one. Dad placed only condition though, to get converted to Christianity and mom agreed. The same goes with aunt too. Once mum and dad were married. Aunt who's my mum's sister and my dad's brother got together. Of course only one condition again, had to get converted to Christianity.
"Fine. Three! Let me give you something that we are not, but they are. They are rich!" mom emphasised.
The last point did make sense.
"Yeah! But I will also be one day." I exclaimed without even realising the seriousness of the commitment that I'm making.
I seriously had to consider the last remark. The first two? Nah, not a worry as far as I'm concerned. I have a living example right in front of me. My Mom.
Somehow I feel I could do the same with Anshu, get her converted, or convinced at least. Even if not, I didn't want to hear a no from mom even before I took my first step, so tried to dispense the topic.
