Chapter 3 - Daily life, but with a system!

"Morning George!"

[Ep + 0.061]

"Good morning!"

I quickly set up some breakfast, and munch away at it. While this is going on, I think about how annoying the system is being.

I did try to get it to shut up, but it responded with this:

[System does not understand what the host means. All Ep must be counted at all times, that is just how the system works. Unless you have somehow figured out a way to utilize the Ep naturally gained by souls, which no soul has ever done by itself before, the system will continue to collect Ep.]

Luckily enough for me, I have already gotten used to the idea of a random voice counting things off in the background. I mean, pure obsessive OCD was far more annoying than a little computer whirring away in the background.

And so, finishing my breakfast, I go downstairs and relax all day! A little bit of time spent playing video games here, a bit of studying there, just doing as I generally do. The intention being simple enough: I need to figure out how much Ep I earn during a normal day for me. Then based on this, if I ignore exceptions, I can calculate how long it would take for me to 'fix' my autism.

Of course, I am not taking into account how every time I can slightly fix something using some Ep I will. This will then change how much Ep I gain every day. But I would like a rough time frame to work with.

That actually always confused me in those webnovel books. The second they get a system, they change the very way in which they live their life! Why would they do that?

[Based on the memories the host has, the 'systems' in these novels most likely edited the mind of their host, so as to make the host accomplish the goal of the 'system' more easily. Or the host themselves had a massive change in their life occur, causing them to change their viewpoint drastically.]

"Ignoring how that was a rhetorical question, system; why didn't you do this? I know you didn't since I constantly analyze my mind to check for any changes, as my mental state has always been the most important thing to me. I mean, it is my main fear, a change occurring in my mind and me not knowing. But why didn't you edit my mind in some way? "

(AN: I do this a lot. I have a bit of a habit of saying little notes like this to myself, making sure I know what I am talking about and referring to. I suppose it is useful for writing though!)

[The host does not need to worry. The system is merely a 'computer program'. It has no wants or needs. Based on hosts memories, it is not a life form as far as the science of 'Humanity' goes.]

[As a consequence of this, based on the analyzations of the 'systems' discovered in the host's memories, it needs to be said no rewards will be given out at any time. There will be no missions. There will be no quests. There are no special prizes.]

[And while the system can analyze and sort out the information stored in the host's brain, it can't do this with anything else. And even then, the host has to ask for something specific for the system to say something back.]

"Huh."

And so I went through the rest of my day, wondering how much Ep I would have collected by the end of the day and night. Naturally, I realized halfway through the day, around lunch, that I could just ask the system to tell me how much Ep I would gain based on my memories of earlier days. But apparently, my memory, while good, is not nearly detailed enough to notice every single sensation and other such things I experience.

And the reason why I have not collected any Ep over my entire lifetime, is because I actually have, but it 'automatically' helps out random parts of my soul and body. Or it just leaves into the surrounding environment. Most Ep leaves. Not very useful at all. The use of the system is that it collects up this Ep instead of it being used automatically, and allows me, the host, to choose where I should spend Ep.

The next day, after waking up:

"Good morning George!" Said George to himself.

"Morning!" Said George to himself but in a slightly higher pitched tone.

"Oh yeah, morning system!" Said George in his usual voice again.

[Good morning host.]

"How was your night?]

[The sleep cycle you had was 7.3 hours long. You got close to waking up 5 times. After reviewing the average sleep cycle for the human race based in the host's memories, this can be considered normal, just lacking 0.7 hours of sleep.]

"Great! Not what I meant at all, but eh."

And so I went about my day again, consuming my breakfast in the morning, this time some vegemite covered toast, and I believe the expression is 'counting my lucky stars'? That I am not one of those autistic people who 'overreact' to taste or textures.

"Oh yeah! System, how much Ep did I earn for all of yesterday?"

[You gained 95.6 Ep]

"Huh. So how many years would it take for me to safely fix my autism?"

[129 years.]
