Synopsis
. . . . . They say everyone is born equal but different, but what about the extraordinary people who hold inhuman abilities? Equal they say, what a joke, no one is equal, however, there is one thing that binds us together despite our disparities, we all have this gift called, Life . . . . . Schism follows the daily life of a Gemei, A guy who completely hates human interactions and everything related to that. However, this hatred isn't without reason. A dark past, a dark present and probably a dark future. Disclaimer: From my point of view, this story is very dark. I mean DARK AF, but from someone else's prospective, it may or may not be as dark as I think it is. So ill just put the disclaimer anyway. Don't come complaining if the story isn't that dark.... Chapter 1 - The Birth of Syncros

The adventure began four years ago, *Driiing Driiing*. It's nine in the morning, "OH SHIT! I overslept again; I clearly remember setting my alarm for seven, but I guess I unconsciously snoozed it till it was nine. I do wonder if my parents were still here, how they'd react to my indolence. Oh sorry, I forgot to introduce myself; I'm Gemei Ashford, aged seventeen, occupation student? Well, I guess I study. Going to school is more like a chore than anything. Let's not dwell on that, time to get ready for another boring day at school."

Gemei Ashford, currently studying English Literature at the Ashford institute, located in Kingsbridge, out on an island which is rather close to England. The Island in question doesn't have an actual name as its being kept a secret from most people due to the sudden uprise of supernatural beings which were dubbed 'The Syncros'.

Said being first made its presence known on the coast of Truton, situated about ten kilometers from the Ashford institute. It can be easily recognized by its shiny grayish metallic structure which reflects almost everything, thus giving it the appearance of a walking mirror. However, within that monstrous exoskeleton of a body, two bright red lights which glow more fiercely than the deepest part of hell makes itself distinguished as the more blood it sheds, the more intense the fiery eyes from hell burns.

On the day the Syncros first made its grand appearance from seemly nowhere, people near Truton and its surrounding areas were all exterminated indiscriminately, whether it be adults or children, no one was spared. During that commotion which could only be referred as an onslaught, some people who against the odds weren't petrified by fear despite witnessing the extermination of the whole city by the foray of this otherworldly entity, managed to contact the authorities. Sadly, mainly due to their incompetence and wariness of prank callers, it took them thirty minutes to dispatch a unit. Little did they know, it was already too late.

After the unit in question finally arrived in the area where various emergency calls were made, the scene which unfolded itself in front of them was unimaginable. Upon the first glance, most of the officers ended up throwing up due to the ungodly amount of blood and gore which seemed to go on indefinitely. The smell of iron caused by blood instantly turned the strongest of stomachs upside down. From buildings to streets, the sheer amount of blood dripping from the walls and onto the streets seemed as if it was hastily drawn by an artist. Some were already dark red, signifying that the blood splattered there were made a long time ago. Compared to the newer splatter, which was still bright red. Suggested that the beings responsible were still here, somewhere, lurking around. Further down the road, lifeless corpses, some in piles, some decapitated and some left alone gave the impression that if there were an underworld, it would be exactly like this. The skulls would have instead been replaced by actual human heads which were separated from their previous bodies.

"HEY! Damien, stop narrating and move along. The chief clearly told you to record silently."

"My bad, but it felt like I had too, the envy was too much."

Damien Berteau, a police officer posted at the Kingsbridge station was dispatched on the unit which was sent to investigate Truton.

Having a friendly and kind personality made him a very enjoyable guy around the station, everyone liked him. Bearing brownish-orange hair paired alongside coffee-colored eyes with tan skin made him a real looker. Too bad he was smaller in size and muscle mass compared to the other officers. Nevertheless, that did not discourage him from starting a family at the young age of twenty-four. One year later, his only child was born, a girl who is now eight.

On the day he was dispatched, accompanied with four other guys. Special orders came in from the top ordering him to film their investigation.

"Damien, this place is something straight out of a horror movie man, my stomach feels weird, I think I'm going to puke."

"I know it's hard to watch, but there may still be survivors, John"

"Now, that's just wishful thinking Damien, be realistic for once. Have you noticed the number of bodies? How can someone still be alive after this?"

"Fine, let us continue heading towards the beach."

After regaining their composure, both officers made their way to the beach, deeper into hell. Finally, it was in sight, sun sand and sea but today it was dark grey clouds, which halted the sun's ray from spreading its vigor throughout the land. Sand turned dark brown all the while becoming sticky. And finally, the sea, the once blue Empress was cut short from her splendor as the light reigning down from her Emperor was masked by the traitorous clouds, all the while having her virtue slowly taken from her by the villainous Crimson Lord as he slowly turned her once majestically ocean blue color into one of dark bloody crimson red. I stood there, helpless, watching her majesty get defiled and dethrone.

Speechless before the scene in front of them, both agents were completely lost in thoughts, trying to make heads or tails about the scene they've just witnessed. Suddenly, a faint noise, coming from a shop directly behind them next to an intersection could be heard.

"Yo, Damien, did you hear that?"

"Of course I did, I have ears after all, keep your guard up."

Drawn by the mysterious sound, both officers stared down the intersection like hunters waiting for their prey. The road separating the beach from the intersection wasn't that big. Next to it, the shop, from where the sound emanated, felt rather empty. However, the little stuff it did have was completely wrecked. Bloodstains from behind the counter and all around was presumably the customers, or what was left of them. For Damien and John, the sight of blood was now ordinary, as being exposed in this hell for more than an hour desensitized them from the true horror which laid before them.

"Shhh, that's definitely footsteps, don't forget to remove the safety Damien."

"Now isn't the time to be a smartass John, focus."

The footsteps became louder by the second, judging from its distinct characteristic, it was probably a human. Maybe injured? Reason being the slow pace at which it advanced. Then, finally, it came into sight. A young girl who was wiping her tears while looking at the ground.

"Excuse me miss, are you alright?" Damien asked worriedly.

Upon hearing his deep masculine voice, the girl looked up, she was Asian, probably aged around eight. She had long black hair with almond-shaped eyes in the color of coffee. Some spots on her face had blood, which wasn't funny anymore. Relieved to see another human, she immediately ran towards them. Her long dark hair flowed gracefully in the air as she began her sprint. A smile of relief could be seen, Damien's heart melted. Everything seemed to have slowed down. The Emperor was directly behind them, his majesty was finally winning the war against the traitorous clouds. Everything began to light up, that instant was picturesque. A knight in shining armor rescuing a young girl from her demise in the middle of hell, what a sight to truly behold.

Regrettably, this wasn't one of those fables, as everything turned south instantaneously. The light coming from the sun began to reflect onto Damien's face. Following that, subtle vibrations whose interval grew tighter and tighter made itself apparent. By raising his hand up to his forehead, amidst the blinding reflection, he managed to catch a glimpse of a silvery figure which made its presence known. Earlier, Damien handed over the video camera to John who wasn't thrilled about the whole ordeal.

Glowing red eyes unhurriedly crawled up behind the girl. "Bloodlust," the first reflex that Damien had was to dash towards the girl with all his might. Before he could even process what was going on, his body subconsciously began the run.

A muffled "crack" noise followed soon after, it was the sound of bones breaking. Her eyes slowly lost its sparkle, the stomach was clearly pierced through by this massive metallic hand structure as if someone had used a toothpick to pierce a grape. All that was left was a giant hole on her tiny body, blood began to gush out as if blocking a water tap's opening then alleviating the pressure so that water went farther.

Accompanying the blood was her internal organs or what was left of it as small bits fell onto the ground before the now lifeless body which finally gave in. Moments before she hit the ground, Damien managed to catch her. Though he didn't make a sound, he was crying inside. Tears flowed down his emotionless face as if it were a flash flood. Soon after, his sadness turned into pure rage. The instant he turned his head in hopes of confronting this demon, his head was sliced off almost effortlessly, just like a hot knife going through butter. John stood there, frozen in place by fear as the blood from his former comrade gushed out as if it were a fountain. In a blink of an eye, the sound of the video camera hitting the ground could be heard amongst the numerous cries for help.

Luckily, a special force from an unknown origin was dispatched. That special force was not affiliated with any governments and thanks to their effort, all the Syncros were purged. From that day forward, the agency which dispatched that group was given the name Dragena and force which operated under them were known as the Black Knights. Following that, no Syncros related incident has been reported for the past ten years.
