Chapter 29 - Hey again!

Jasmine held her shield up as she pushed her way back into the crumbling building. Jasmine did not know where things went wrong. One second she was discussing the possibilities of the two cases being linked with the leader of the general department and the next moment another bomb is heard and then another.

Suddenly Jasmine found herself stuck between a office chair and a part of a wall that had fallen down. Luckily for Jasmine, she was a Guardian class officer and so she was well trained for these event. Sadly her partner was a mage who was at more of a disadvantage. It did not take long for her to find the wailing sound of her partner. Her and a few other defense focused officers took to work in order to take as many people out of the building as possible. Not only were there officers there but also civilians and criminals who needed to be detained before they tried to escape.

At first only an investigation group was called but now that it seems to be an all out terrorist attack, higher officials were called to come in. It would take them at least a few hours even with the fasted mana engine Jet. After a good number of people were rescued, the officers quickly broke up into 3 teams. 1 team would search around the area to try and find the perpetrators or clues that could lead to them. Another group were sent to monitor the city and inform other police stations of a possible attack and the last group stayed in the rubble to save as many people as possible. Jasmine was part of the last group.

Jasmine quickly covered her mouth as she felt the fumes start to effect her. It was long past this morning and the sun was starting to set. Jasmine cursed as she realized this but she continued to trench on. She knew that there were still many people stuck in the rubble that would not be able to get out. Suddenly she heard a low voice.

"Help...Help me.." Jasmine quickly reacted to the voice.

"Hello, I am here. Keep talking, and it will lead me to you." The voice quickly agreed.

"Ok...but I don't...know...how long...I can...last." It said slowly. Jasmine looked at the time. It had been a few hours since the station had fallen apart. The fact that the person was still conscious was a feet in itself.

"Please continue to talk. I will be there." Jasmine continued to encourage the person as she slowly made her way to the voice. Suddenly as she was walking in blindly she felt a shoulder tap her. She quickly reacted and tried to hold the person but her hands were quickly blocked. She did not even have time to guess as she saw a flashlight turn on. With the light on, she could now see the person, It was Erin.

Jasmine felt her heart calm down as she saw him. Oddly enough she felt more comfortable knowing that it was Erin then a stranger even though he had escaped from prison just a few hours ago. Maybe it was as she said before, she trusts him.

"Hey there lil lady, need some light?" Erin said with a candid smile. Jasmine raised her eyebrows at this comment. Although she was above average in hieght, Erin was much taller compared to her.

"It is Officer Mendez to you." She grabbed the flashlight from his hand before leading the way to the voice. Erin just smirked a little and continued to follow her. With the two of them there, it did not take long for them to find the man. The man was breathing quite heavy and had seem to have injured his head. Jasmine realized he was in no condition to walk and so she carried the man on her own. Jasmine was ready to walk around aimlessly when Erin suddenly went further into the crumbling building.

"Where are you going?" She asked.

"Follow me if you wish Mrs. Mendez." He said coolly as he continued to walk. Jasmine forruwed her brows and followed him to find a women breathing heavily.

"How-" Erin only gave her a wink as he put the women on his back.

" I got good ears." Jasmine just watched speechless as he started going to another destination. Jasmine just followed along in hopes of finding more survivors. In the end they found 4 more people along the way.

Jasmine was shocked at their efficiency. In just 15 minutes they found more men than she did in a whole hour and it was all due to Erin's ear. She felt like those things could hear to the heavens! They both carried 3 people as they headed back to the outside world for some fresh air. Back outside, more ambulances had arrived and Kalvin was being minor healed by one of the nurses there.

Jasmine looked surprised at his injury and rushed to see him as he was being bandaged up.

"Kalvin what happened? Weren't you just monitoring the local area?" Kalvin nodded slowly.

"I- We were but then a bunch of people started to create a riot it was crazy. They were killing the people on the street randomly and were also assaulting police officers. It was crazy. I tried to take down all the rioters but it was hard to tell them apart from normal civilians and we are not allowed to attack normal civilians like that. I don't know if I saw it right but...I think some police men were purposely beating up the wrong people.

More people started arriving and the civilians started to fight back...it was a mess." Erin thought deeply as he heard that.

"This was not in the plan..." Mevern quietly whispered to Erin. Erin nodded his head slowly.

"What is even the motive of doing this? His other plan was simple and unrealistic but at least there was purpose. This is just looking to create chaos..." Kalvin and Jasmine quickly turned to Erin as they said this.

"Other plan? What do you know Erin?" Jasmine inquired.

"Well, while you guys were busy doing whatever cops do, I was doing your jobs for you." Erin proudly handed them the Victor's master plan. Kalvin examined it for a bit before questioning Erin's intelligence.

"Do you expect me to believe that this is the dude responsible for this shit show?" Kalvin felt annoyed as he read the simple Plan over again.

"This is way to simple!" Kalvin stated. Jasmine agreed.

"Indeed it is simple but it works with the way things were originally going and if it continued that route, their plans would have failed at the end. The files do not contain the high personnel responsible for the incident last year nor would the government ever send important officials for a minor person like the mayor. This man's plan was flawed from the start. That is why-" Erin suddenly realized it as well.

"There is a new person in charge." Jasmine nodded.

"A much more twisted person..." Erin felt another headache coming.

"Just when I though I cracked the case. You know what I will leave the detective work to you officer Mendez." Kalvin suddenly popped up blocking Erin's view of Jasmine.

"What about me?" Kalvin asked. Erin shrugged.

"You can continue....uh whatever you do." Kalvin felt another jab at the heart at that sentence.

"Hmmp I will continue being a RESPECTED police officer while you can continue being a criminal." Erin just shrugged.

"Well you do get a free bed and food in jail so.." Kalvin could feel a vein pop as he continued to interact with the young man. Just as Kalvin was tempted to throw a lightning bolt in Erin's face, Jasmine stopped his movements.

"Wait...How about you help us out." Erin and Kalvin both turned to her.

"What?!" Kalvin screamed. Erin thought about it a second before nodding a bit.

"Ok."

"WHAT?!" Kalvin screamed again.

"Nope. No No No. As your partner I refuse to be apart of this." Jasmine lifted her eyebrow when she heard this.

"Think about it, he has actually been quite helpful. He helped stop at least 3 phases of the original plan and has helped me recover 6 people so far." Kalvin was speechless but could not find a rebuttal. Suddenly Erin slides in looking a little salty.

"If I remember correctly, just a while ago, you were asking me for help." Kalvin felt embarrassed as he realized this."

"I was still a little confused from the riot.." Kalvin said quietly.

"And the day before you were even fanboying on me for being a 2 ranker."

"cough cough. I did not know you were a criminal then."

"You even wanted to be my disciple hmmm"

"Ok, I admit defeat." Kalvin said weakly. Erin gloated proudly as he saw this.

"Well thank you for graciously inviting me into your team, I require to be fed 3 meals a day and have bedding provided for me."

"Are we your parents?" Kalvin asked visibly annoyed.

"What? That is my fee for helping." Erin rebutted. Jasmine nodded.

"I see, we will gladly accommodate."

"But-"

"Gladly." Jasmine repeated quickly interrupted Kalvin before he said anymore. Erin smiled craftily as he heard her approval.

"So what do you need me to do?" Erin asked nonchalantly. Jasmine's lips curled into a smile.

"Nothing much, just be a police man." Erin raised his eyebrow a bit.

"Sorry that is like 2 years of police academy which is 2 years too many." Jasmine shook her head when she heard this.

"No no no. I meant for a day or two while we hatch a plan." Erin thought about it for a few seconds. He had grown used to playing a meek character to lower other people defenses. It would be quite fun to play a cop. Erin's smile grew a bit odd as Kalvin felt shivers go down his spine. He stealthly leaned towards Jasmine.

"I hope this goes well." Kalvin said hesitantly. Jasmine smiled in reassurance.

"Don't worry, I think you will like this plan."
