Andor the eastern guardian of Vogel woke from his slumber. The aura of the realm was in disarray and he could sense his loyal guardian beast, the lunar-roc was fighting someone.
Andor leapt into action, wearing his toga and armor and leaping from the petrified cloud that he'd made into his dwelling place.
As Andor flew down from his abode he was alarmed to find that the green skies of Vogel were oddly clearer. Emptier. The sky was missing many of the millions of sacred avians that had been collected within the realm.
A great cry of outrage and pain shook Vogel's green sky and Andor increased the pace of his flight. Flying towards his lunar-roc's aura like an arrow loosed from a bow. The wind whipping through his hair in a fashion that Andor might have enjoyed if he weren't so worried.
Andor eventually reached a portion of the plain of birds that looked like it had witnessed a great war. Vast swathes of the plain had been gouged out and either turned into craters or burnt to ashes.
The feather-grass was all cut low and the ground was covered in feathers and blood. All of its mixed up in a messy red slurry. To the guardian it was like a vision from one of the ten thousand hells.
Andor heard another cry and his attention was immediately drawn to his lunar-roc. The massive bird flapped its great silver wings as it blew beams of blue-silver light at an object that looked a lot like an insect. A strange winged creature that harried the roc by blasting it with bolts of thunder.
Behind the strange winged creature was another creature. Its...her... form was similar to that of the winged women of Andor's homeworld, Aetius.
Confused and afraid and enraged Andor called out to the strange entity, preparing to smite it down if he didn't hear a good explanation for what was going on.
"Stop this madness! Just what do you think you're doing in this holy realm of birds?!" bellowed Andor.

Danke froze. The giant bird froze.
Then after a mournful and aggrieved cry the whale-sized bird took the chance to escape. Flapping over to and hiding behind the winged man that had just appeared. Looking a bullied child hiding behind their older brother.
Danke's first instinct was to tell the man he'd been trying to kill and eat that massive, delicious looking, bird.
However the aura the blond haired, blue-eyed, birdman was putting off and the massive glowing 221 that floated above the man's head as a visual expression of his "level", or strength, made Danke realized that his was probably a good time to watch his words.
Sensing the danger to her figment, Wis placed herself in front of Danke her arms and wings spread protectively.
"I was...uh...flying here. Trying to get something to eat, when you're friend there attacked me." said Danke. Going with the truth, albeit a safely sanitized version of the truth.
The lunar-roc cooed at its master. The winged man pat the massive raptors beak reassuringly and turned back to Danke with a look of skepticism.
"Oh? Is that so? My friend here says you attacked him." said the flying man.
Danke considered lying at this juncture but looking at the scarring on the ground and black singe marks and burns on the lunar-roc's body he decided that it was best to stay honest. The winged man had a look about him that said that he'd attack first and ask questions never if he was given reason to believe that there was no worth in question Danke.
"Y-...Yes, I'll admit that we may have had an altercation…"
"My master was only defending himself when your guardian beast attacked him." said Wis. Her eyes filled with an intensity that clashed with her non-emotive features.
"What? Is that true, Arne? Did you attack these creatures first?" said the flying man. The fact that he was questioning the lunar-roc making Danke feel that there was a shot that things might end okay.
The lunar-roc seemed to nod and made another long series of coos and squawks. The flying man turned around his expression thoughtful but still stern.
"Arne here says that he only attacked you because you were are attacking our birds." said the winged man.
"Your birds!? The plains of Vogel are a suppository for the avian life of countless doomed worlds as contracted by the gods, fae, and spirits of the air who make up the cosmic bird-watcher committee!" said Wis. Taking a significantly more hostile approach than Danke might have taken.
A strange instinct in the back of Danke's mind told him her approach was the correct one, no matter how 'righteous' the winged man was coming off as that was probably just his aura creating that impression.
His inherited memories told him that beings from the winged man's world responded best to strength.
"I...Yes, but as guardians of the plains it as our duty to see the birds are not molested." said the flying man. Face coloring and his expression turning flustered.
"No. As guardian of the plains it your duty to see that 'plains' are not molested. No one told you to butt in if someone snacked on a few birds!" said Danke. Adopting Wis' strong tone. Resting his little hands on his hips in a power stance.
"Well, if that's all you have to say, I think we'll bid you adieu." said Danke. Deciding to beat a hasty retreat before things turned ugly.

The space within the layer rippled. Shivering like gelatin before absorbing the two little life forms. Andor's brow furrowed in alarm as he felt the world shift by a small degree and push the two strangers out.
"Wait a min-...They didn't explain who they were," said Andor. Staring at the spot where the strangers had once been.
With a sigh, he let the matter drop assuming he'd never see them again. The unwinding world was more massive in scale than your average universe and though the layers were finite the sublayers hidden within the layers were not.
"Whatever...Let's go home, Arne. Let's see about fixing those burnt feathers of yours." said Andor. Patting the side of his lunar-roc friend.
