Chereads / My Neighbor’s Dirty Secret / Chapter 17 - Full Of Dread

Chapter 17 - Full Of Dread

For the life of her, some part of her being wanted the twins to leave and go far, far away from her as possible into their kinky bedroom so their light wouldn't shine against her darkness. And then some part of her deep down, was starting to feel almost a teeny bit reliant on the fact that they directed attention toward themselves so much that Rhea's odd presence wasn't being ogled over.

At least she was slightly more invisible. But even more so, it didn't make sense for them to stay now that she had fully reached her destination.

"You guys are still here..." Rhea nearly wanted to pull her hair out because she was uncomfortably seated smack in the middle between the twins. "WHY? GO HOME...PLEASE."

Some seated near them directed her harsh looks for being loud because Damien's music club performances were going to start anytime now. They were in a quiet and large open theater like room with cushioned seats positioned row after row. Before them, were red curtains that lay dormant to the musical wonders ready to behold. Ironically, Rhea was encased in the dark while ceiling lights shone down on the twins. Even room lights detested Rhea! How pitiable.

Aziel smirked at her obvious distress, displaying a look too amusing for her liking. He was seated to her left. And might she add, lounging without a care in the world with his foot on top of the seat in front. Rhea didn't like that he was finding her misery, amusing.

"We've come this far, fair neighbor. Don't tell us you're going to turn us away when we've gone through oh so much trouble to help you get here?"

"L-Look. I'm grateful! But rest assured. I give my oath to the both of you that you can use any other methods or means to torture me...T-That's why!...You can both leave now knowing I won't turn back on my word."

Zeven was seated to her right. She nearly squealed hearing him shuffle closer. He slowly drawled out his words with a playful glint in his eyes, "How can we trust that you won't go back on your word?"

Too close! Rhea kept scooting further away from Zeven. This accidentally made her bump into Aziel's shoulder. No! That single touch caused her to shriek and even more dirty glances were directed at her. At this point, she'd really have a heart attack. It was already suffocating enough with a room full of people she didn't know so dealing with the twins were asking for her death.

Ugh. Why weren't the damn performances starting yet?

Finally, she frustratingly ran her hands through her hair. "Gah, why won't the two of you leave me alone!"

Aziel quickly flashed her a smile. "Because, I wasted my precious time getting you here. It's only fair I do what I want and stay to watch you make even more of a complete fool of yourself."

"I'm genuinely enjoying myself, I've never been to these kinds of musical performances before," Zeven chimed in even though she expected him to be nicer of the two to understand enough to leave. But oh how wrong she was to even think that!

Next came a smart ass comment from Aziel. "...And plus, I'm too comfortable to move from this spot."

Too comfortable?

TOO COMFORTABLE?!

She wanted to melt away or even better, disappear from the world's existence right now.

And so, at twenty nine years of age, somehow sandwiched between two conniving sex crazed twins, Rhea never felt so damn uncomfortable in her entire life.

After what seemed like agonizing hours but only just a few minutes, the red curtains opened and the first performance began. A young boy bowed to the audience and began to play the flute. She was momentarily distracted by the boy's mesmerizing technique as beautiful sounds drifted through her ears. All she could think about was how talented he was.

Talented and bright but of course, not so much as her dear nephew Damien! Her nephew's piano performance would be the best of all the performances.

THUNK! Rhea was only distracted for a moment because something heavy landed onto her shoulder. What the hell? Did a rock fall from the ceiling and sit on her shoulder? She looked up. There wasn't a hole to suggest a rock had fallen from the sky. Rhea's eyes then bulged as large as it could. She gasped. Her head slowly turned to her lower left, only to find HIS HEAD resting on her shoulder.

Aziel! It was unmistakable. His head was on her shoulder, as if it were the most normal thing in the universe!

Rhea turned to complete stone. She opened her mouth but remembered the performance was still on. He was dead asleep! And then she did something instantly regrettable. Rhea angrily looked down at him more closely, but instead anger flew as she grew shocked at how still and serene he seemed. Aziel's eyelashes were long and pretty, more so than Rhea's. They fell onto his cheek like soft carpet.

Even when sleeping, the bright light and alluring aura never disappeared. It was a pretty scene until he started snoring. Someone in front turned back and whispered, "Shh!" This caused Zeven to look over and lean in much closer than earlier.

HEART, BE STILL.

It was hard however, when one twin was dead asleep on her shoulder and the other one was awake and engaging her with more anxiety.

"What's wrong, you're shaking?...Wait. Is that Aziel snoring?" he suddenly cringed his nose.

Rhea froze to stone so all she could do was shakily point because she didn't want to touch another person. "...Aziel he...shoulder!"

Zeven sighed heavily. He bent over Rhea and plucked Aziel off her shoulder. Aziel slumped over onto someone else's shoulder. Rhea glanced over and found that he was now laying against an elderly woman's shoulder. Instead of brushing him off, the elderly woman chuckled and actually relished in Aziel's unwelcoming presence.

She was safe from harm's way...

Rhea sighed all too soon. That was because when she focused her attention on what was in front of her, Zeven chose that exact moment to pause as he hovered above her before fully returning to his seat. They were nearly a mere breath away. She could see the view of her frightened self reflected into Zeven's eyes. She didn't like this startling closeness! Rhea tossed and turned in her seat.

"Y-You're blocking my view."

Zeven just kept looking at her, still staying in the strange position. She flinched as Zeven helped straighten out her ruffled shirt that Aziel had messed up.

"Are you that afraid of us?"

She frantically nodded. "P-P-Please move away...I might have an episodic attack and ruin all of the performances!"

"Episodic attacks...Does that mean you get them frequently?"

"It's none of your concern," Rhea was practically shrinking and shriveling in her seat by now.

"You're right. I'm sorry for asking."

Finally, Zeven backed away and returned to where he belonged a long time ago. Back to his seat and not hovering above to give her a anxiety attack that would leave her unable to see her nephew's performance. Rhea could already picture the news heading, 'Woman has a heart attack during a kid's music show'. She'd never live to see the end of day if that were to happen.

Aziel yawned. "...Rude evil creature of a neighbor. Why are you so intent on hiding your life like some esteemed celebrity?..."

He gasped and earned more dirty glances from those around. "...Woah! Excuse me, I didn't mean to lay on your shoulder ma'am."

The elderly woman chuckled and whispered back, "You can lay down on my shoulder all you want, anytime boy..."

Aziel laughed nervously.

...Celebrity, huh? Ironic. It's not like Rhea was the number one writer in New York but she was still fifth. Being fifth most popular, Rhea was quite well known. Not to mention, the brothers were into her work as well. How embarrassing would it be if they found out! That's right, she had to avoid that at all costs.

The boy's flute performance ended. And then, Rhea's eyes sparkled as she spotted Damien slowly walking up to the stage. Where was a camera when she desperately needed one? He was properly dressed in a black suit and red bow tie. Damien looked absolutely stunning. She wanted to shout his name but felt it would be too out of place.

Her whole being paled as she realized that he didn't look too ecstatic. In fact, Damien looked to be miserable. He never once looked at the audience. At this point, he'd never know she was here until after this show was over! Damien walked over to the piano stool and sat down. He took a deep breath. The piece he played was the classic Moonlight Sonata by Mozart. She was immersed and closed her eyes until a loud scratchy sound entered her ears.

Rhea looked up at Damien's small shaking form. He was staring at the audience in horror. Damien had messed up and pressed the wrong keys. Then, he just froze and sat there for what seemed like a long moment.

Damien!

As if someone read her mind, they shouted, "Damien!"

She looked to her left and found Aziel shouting out Damien's name. And out of nowhere, Zeven had the gall to touch her hand and lift it high up into the air. Damien's eyes met hers. She awkwardly smiled as everyone was looking at her now. Rhea couldn't bring herself to faint or grow angry at the sex crazed twins because of his expression.

This brought one of the most genuine and elated expression on Damien's face. Damien shook his head and focused again on what was in front of him. Rhea continued listening to his beautiful piano playing, doing her best to pray it would continue to go well. And it did. Damien finished the rest of his performance without a hitch. She immediately stood from her seat and made her way backstage.

"Damien that was wonder...ful!" she was momentarily caught off guard because Damien ran into her arms.

His small form clutched against her body. It was so sudden. How long ago has it been since she last hugged another human being? It's been ages. Since...Her mother. Rhea would always feel safe in her mother's arms. But just like her older sister Elaine, her mother was god knows where traveling the world with her current boyfriend.

At first, she wasn't sure how to feel with the warmth engulfing her entire being. But before long, Rhea's hand slowly crept to snake around his back.

"You came! Oh Rhea, you don't know how happy I am. I'm the happiest boy alive!"

Rhea couldn't stop the warm feeling from bubbling up inside her chest. She accepted it for what it was.

Damien then peeked behind Rhea and opened his mouth wide. "...Aziel and...the other evil twin?"

"...Evil twin?" Aziel repeated his words, giving Rhea a questionable look.

FUCK.

That's what she named them not so long ago.

Aziel narrowed his eyes at Rhea. "Little guy, this is my brother Zeven. And don't trust word for word everything she says. You need to make assumptions yourself. But seriously little guy, that was an awesome performance!"

"Awesome? But...I messed up in the beginning."

"No matter...Aziel is speaking the truth. A seasoned pianist can spell out an awesome performance when he sees one," Zeven added.

Seasoned pianist?

Suddenly, Aziel seemed almost bashful as he scratched his head. "Zeven sings too. We've even done some covers together but that was back when we were naive kids in high school."

Singing? Suddenly, Rhea grew curious and imagined them just a few years younger. Aziel, seated next to a brilliant white piano. Zeven, standing with a microphone in his hands. She wondered how it would all sound.

"What? No way! That's so cool. Maybe we can all play together next time."

Damien's eyes were practically sparkling, full of stars at both of the sex crazed twins. Rhea's eyes were full of complete dread. She lost.

The twins had already seduced her nephew.
