Sabrina Dubois' POV
The ride to Paris was a dreadful one. I know that I cannot avoid this any longer. Even Alfred said that he would hunt me down if I don't go there.
"fucking retarded old man, trying to control our lives," I said as Mia just laughed at the end of the line.
"will you calm down? Maybe it's nothing. Maybe he just wanted to have a chat, face to face. I mean you did disappear from the grid. You have been off the grid for a week now," Mia reasoned at me as I scoffed.
"Yeah, right. You think he might be that nice but no… he is not nice at all. Did you know that he told Nate to go back to the States and got punished for something that he did not do?" I said as I was riding into the night. It was quiet and I know that I might reach my destination a lot faster.
"Anyway, how's the formula for the reversion of the pill going?" I asked Mia as she was typing something inside the computer.
"Anna said that it will be ready when it's ready. You know her. She does not like to be rush," she replied. I rolled my eyes as I was coming to see the night light of the Eiffel Tower from a distant. I must be close.
"can I call you back? I have to get off the phone. You know, rules of driving 101," I said as I was waiting for Mia to reply.
"Okay, talk to you soon," she said before she hangs up. I put my phone down when I drove around the city to the USA embassy that was located in Paris but I don't know where. I don't usually like the city as it was so crowded and the living was so expensive here.
"Okay, let's see, go right then left then it will be on my right," I looked at the map as I parked alongside the road. I don't want to look at the maps while driving. It was distracting. I did what I read and parked the car. I got off from the car and I looked around.
"This was not USA embassy building," I said as I looked at the building.
"no, it's not," a voice interrupted me as I turned to look at Alfred who was casually wearing a black trench coat and a scarf. He looked at me as he was smiling.
"Hello, Sabrina. How are you?" He said as he pulled me into a hug. I hugged him back as I smiled at him.
"I'm fine, and you?" I asked.
"Good, good. I've never been better," he said as he nodded at me. I looked at the building before I looked at him.
"shall we?" He said as he offered his hand.
"don't mind if I do," I said as I went inside the building with him. It was an elegant restaurant as we headed to the hostess.
"We were the friends of the White," Alfred said in French as the hostess nodded at us.
"yes, follow me," she said as she showed us to the Whites that Alfred asked for.
"Thank you," Alfred said to the nice lady as we went inside the private booth. There was laughter as e stepped in and the couple was joking with each other when we interrupted them.
"Jonathan, Lilly, how are you?" Alfred said as he went to shake hands with the gentleman and kissed the hand of the lady.
"Alfred, it has been a while. I thought you might want to introduce us then?" The gentleman asked as he was eyeing me.
"yes, of course, Sabrina, this is Jonathan and Lilly White. They're Nate's parents," Alfred said before my eyes went wide as a saucer.
"You mean…" She stuttered as she looked at them.
"yes, dear. we're your in-laws. Come, come to have a seat," Nate's mum said as she ushered me to sit beside her and Alfred took the other side.
"So, Sabrina, what would you like?" She asked. I looked at the menu and I chose beef bourguignon. It was my comfort food after all. And I was sweating as I was nervous to meet them.
"I don't know that Nathan has found someone in his life. Has he asked you the question?" Jonathan asked.
"yes, he did. Mr. White," I said before I was interrupted.
"Jonathan," he said.
"I'm sorry?" I asked.
"Jonathan. We're practically family now. Why don't we just call by our names now? It is not that awkward, isn't it? I mean we already met before, did we not?" He asked as he took a sip of his chardonnay.
"Yes, of course, sir, I mean Jonathan," I said.
"You can call me Jon, for short," he replied.
"oh, honey, don't be silly, you should call him dad and me, mum," Lilly said as she was so eager to see me and hold my hand. I nodded at her as I know that I can get close to her.
"you know, I have always wanted to have a daughter and now that you're married my son, that means you're my daughter now," she said as she was smiling at me.
I have forgotten how it feels to have a family of my own. I don't know what to do with this new feeling that was showing up in my stomach and before I know it, I was crying in front of everyone.
"oh, honey, what's wrong?" Mum asked as I don't know what to say to their kindness.
"what happened, Sabrina? We're sorry if we scared you or anything…" was the last thing he said before I shook my head.
"No, no, no. it's just… I don't know what to say but thank you," I said as I was wiping my tears with my napkin. They all looked at me before I smiled and we have a great time together.
"hey, what are you thinking about?" Nathan asked as he was playing with my hair. He kissed my naked shoulder as my back was at him. I smiled as I turned to look at him. I kissed him on the lips before he looked at me.
"what is it? Care to share?" He asked as he was caressing my arm.
"I think you have a great family," I said as I was playing with his chest.
"how do you know? You never met them," he said as I looked at him. He knotted his eyebrow together before I got up from the bed. I went to the bathroom to get ready for some shower after our act just now, hours and hours of heavy, rough sex, to make up for our 5 years of separation. I knew it would never enough but it will be enough for us to make up for each other our whole life as I knew there was somehow waiting for us in the future.
"hey, care if I join you?" Nathan asked me as I was opening the faucet for and let the warm shower to hit my sore muscles.
"join me if you dare," I whispered as he opened the door and stepped inside before he hit me on the wall and kissed me passionately.
"you know I can never resist you," he said as he let the hot shower flow on his body like a Greek god.
"I know and that's why you stuck with me, forever," I said as I saw my wedding ring as I was playing with his chest. He smirked before he pulled my hand and I saw his wedding band. We stayed in the shower for a while before we headed to his family house.
I know that life can be unpredictable with people that we had known our whole lives was nothing like we knew and a total stranger that might be the one that we need in our lives. I hope that my future child will never have to suffer as I know the secret of the bioweapon was still out there and I hope they will not fall to the bad guys.
Charles Debrun's POV
After that kiss, I know that I have gone somewhere else. I don't know where but when I opened my eyes, Kiara was standing in front of me.
"Welcome back, doc," she said as I looked around the room. It was the first lab that I ever work in and with the people that I used to know.
"why you bring me here?" I asked her as she was leaning on the wall.
"It is I that asked her to bring you here," a voice came from the dark before it revealed who he was.
"You! I thought you were…" was the last thing I said as I looked at him.
"What, dead? Oh, dead was only a fragment of times but knowledge lasted forever, don't you agree, my dear Doctor?" He said as he smiled wickedly at me.
I think this new adventure will bring more trouble than luck for me. Well, bad luck Debrun!
