To him, it was her beauty. Her ability to sway an entire mob to peace. The way she could create music from a single sentence. To him she was everything. But to her, he was just another person. Someone she'd passed on the streets. Someone who would only glance in her direction before looking for the next new thing. The next exciting thing in his life.
What she didn't understand was that it only took one glance for him to be hooked. Her name? Ember Cambridge. She was only a twenty-year-old graduate from Howard. To her, she was just average. To her friends she was a beauty. To him? She was his life. Who is he? Evan Donvan. The only heir to Donvan Enterprises.
Their meeting was by chance. Her finding out that her mother needed more support than she thought brought her to working side jobs along with her actual job as a photographer. She was just getting off from the café "Aimer le café".
"Em, before you go can you help me with the dishes?" Lu Singlin, her best friend, called from behind the counter
"Fine" Ember went behind the counter yet again
"You don't have to say it like that. Just think of it as a favor" Lu Singlin said "Plus, we haven't been out in ages"
"I don't really have the time Linlin" Ember said, setting the plates aside.
"Come on, It'll be fun" Lu Singlin said "and you know, I think there's something going on at the park"
"Yeah, they're celebrating the mayor's daughter's birthday" Ember said as she dried her hands "but I really can't go Singlin. Maybe next time"
Having that said Ember left her apron hanging on the hook behind the counter and left out the door. On the way to the bus stop, she passed by a black colored car. The moment she passed by the car time seemed to go in slow motion.
The brown curls of her hair blew in the wind, revealing striking green eyes. Once she passed, he still stared at the place she'd been.
"Sir?" Xi yanyan asked yet again "your going to be late for Su Lingbing's party"
"Xi Yanyan, don't you think I know that?" He snapped back at her "Just drive"

"Mom, I'm home" Ember called. In response was silence "Mother?"
She closed the door of her apartment and walked hurriedly towards her mother's room. The room had been re-made into a smaller version of a hospital ward. Once she saw the woman sleeping peacefully in her bedroom, IV drip connected to her arm, she breathed out in relief. Her mother was the only part of her family she has left. When Ember figured out that her mother had Cancer, she was heart broken.
It had been her mother who raised her, all alone and without the help of her father. She'd always been so caring...
"Ember, when did you get back?"
The voice brought the girl back to reality. The once sleeping woman was now staring at her, IV drip and all. She frowned.
"what's wrong Bijin(1)?"
Ember hadn't even realized that tears fell. She quickly wiped her cheeks and smiled at her.
"Nothing's wrong. Are you hungry? I can make something..."
"Didn't you just get back from work? I don't want you to overwork yourself"
"You don't have to worry about that, I'll go make you some Miso soup"
Before She could decline again, Ember went off to the kitchen to start cooking.
